Morning people,

 

Had my 06 350z for 12 hours now but think I have broken it.

After spending 30 minutes realising that you needed your foot on the clutch to start it both my remotes have stopped opening the doors remotely.

Got no idea what I have done and was hoping its a simple fix

 

Apart from that I am living the 305z - will post pics this weekend

How old are the batteries in the remotes? Not that the seller would have probably indicated. They'll often only last a couple of years, so for a 2006, could be about that. Is it the stock remote or an aftermarket? Either way, any little led lights lighting up on the remote when you push the button?

very impressed with the speed of the help on here :-)

 

called local Nissan dealer (Halifax) and they said the remotes will need re-coding at a cost of £42 (not covered under warrenty). Going to look online and see if I can find out how to do it as it most just by a series of things (put key in and press button 6 times etc) you do just like pairing a tv remote

found a thread online that says this is how to DIY re-code ur keys:

 

1. Turn the ignition switch from Position 0 to ON 6 times within 10 seconds.

2. Then turn ignition switch to OFF position. Leave key in ignition switch.

3. After 2 seconds, the system will enter programming mode and will flash the warning

lights twice.

4. Press and HOLD the unlock button on the Plip.

5. While pressing the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times.

6. Release the unlock button.

7. The warning lights will flash once to indicate successful programming.

8. Repeat procedure 4 to 7 for up to 4 plip key’s.

9. When completed turn ignition ON, and the warning lights will flash 2 times.

10. Remove key, and check all plip key’s for operation.

jump started it cause battery was flat and it started fine. That seems to be the common scenario, can't start it, try time n time again, no luck, batteries flat so jump it and it fires no probs :wacko::angry:

friend has suggested that the battery could have a dead cell causing problems:

 

"i think u might have a dead cell in battery very hard to test

if ure car need ecu needs 10v to function right battery supplying say 8v under load electronics work but f**k up

car will turn over and seem to work but engine mangement not got the power"

 

Anyone experienced anything like this or know if this makes sense?
