nixy Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 just had a read of my new insurance docs and there is a disclaimer on the bottom I've never seen before which says "use on the nurburgring is not covered" I've never known them be so specific! Quote
H5 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 If it saves them money.... It's just a toll road Mr Underwriter..... Quote
lotuscc Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 From Ben Lovejoy's site: Once upon a time, you could drive the Ring safe in the knowledge that it is a public road and therefore your fully-comp insurance applied exactly as if you were on the M25. These days, the rules have changed. The increasing popularity of the Ring, and the substantial number of crashes there, put the Ring firmly onto the radar of insurance companies. Almost all UK insurers now exclude the Ring. Quote
AK350Z Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 It'll be right after the bit about not being covered for track or competition use is it? Boo! Quote
Chesterfield Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Look out for "de-restricted toll roads" being excluded. That covers the ring too. My understanding is that it is best to consider yourself NOT insured when driving round the Nurburgring. Quote
nixy Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 it also mentions Nordschleife which i've never heard of - then goes on to say the usual about track days etc. Don't they realise i don't get much further than sainsburys? Quote
nixy Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 ah, it's the same thing? See I told you they had nothing to worry about! Quote
Sarnie Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 Your insurance have nothing to worry about, Wales is too much of an adventure for you, the 'Ring is safe Quote
funkymofo Posted May 31, 2008 Posted May 31, 2008 ye as already stated, its because it technically isn't a track so just stating "track driving not insured" doesnt cover them. Its amazing how many cars crash 2 miles down the road from the nurburgring though Quote
