At high revs changing down from 4th to third on track the gear crunches big time (fine at lower revs) Is this defo a synchro issue & will changing out the box oil & adding molyslip help??? Or is it rebuild time? Quote
marzman Posted August 4, 2023 Posted August 4, 2023 Just double de-clutch and you'll be fine - clutch in, gear to neutral, clutch out, clutch in, gear to third, clutch out. In my experience changing the gearbox oil and adding moly slip made little difference, but the above ensured smooth gear changes forever more. Quote

Mavrik Posted August 5, 2023 Author Posted August 5, 2023 Double de-clutching on track at around 85mph & 7k revs into Paddock Hill isn't really an option! As said, at low revs on road I don't beat the syncro unless I'm really blatting. Quote

ZMANALEX Posted August 5, 2023 Posted August 5, 2023 The VQ35DE and HR is a torquey wee beast and I certainly would not be changing down at 7000 rpm. Either get some track driving lessons or fix the gearbox or perhaps both. Quote
