Possible Clutch Problems?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm new to the whole forum and 370z scene so abit of a noob so apologies in advance.

I currently just picked up my 2016 370z Nismo. It has 18000 miles on the clock. This could just be me overthinking as with the car being a young age and with low mileage it shouldn't be having clutch problems unless the previous owner butchered the transmission lol. So here's the scenario, my 370 is stationary on a flat bit of ground, handbrake is down and clutch is engaged and in 1st gear, as I slowly disengage the clutch the car should pull and move a couple mph, (with my previous car I could ghost into a fair few gears without touching the throttle) but with my 370 it will just start to try stall so I have to touch the throttle to stop this from happening, this also makes reversing a lil bit of a pain. I can live with it the way it is I just want to make sure a big issue isn't on the horizon. Any advice would be much appreciated, as I'm only 20 I think the inexperienced side of me is kicking in lmao.

Thanks :)

You have not said what your previous car ownership was, but if it has not been a relatively heavy sports car then it may well be you have to adjust to a transmission that is designed to suit the performance on offer rather than cars than 'everyday' cars  which are designed for ease of driving.

That is not saying you may have an issue as you will see from threads on the 350/370 clutches there have been issues, but not seemingly with the issue you are reporting.  From my experience of 370 ownership I suspect the feel you are getting is normal, especially when the car is not warmed up.

As this was your first post, you may not have seen there are trade specialists who service etc the Zeds and if you continue to be worried I would suggest you take it along to one of those for their opinion.

Ah righteo sorry about that, I previously owned a Mercedes a class so definitely not a sports car haha. I'll see how it goes for the time being and if it gets worse I'll be sure to look for those specialists in the forum. Thank you very much for getting back to me and for your advice, much appreciated.
