Airshows this year

Just a thought as i have just been looking at tickets for Fairford.

 

Is anyone going to any airshows this year? If so what ones and what days? is there anything that you are looking forward to seeing?

 

I used to go every year as a child and went pretty much each time to Biggin Hill. I have not been to one for a good few years so really want to see how the Eurofighter flies as i have still yet to see one.

I would do one this year if the recently refurbished Vulcan Bomber as an airworthy certificate to do them. Remember seen it in action at Cosford in the mid 90s awesome sight and very verY LOUD

I loved them, there was one when i went to airshows and the noise was awesome! when its coming at you it was ok, but as soon as it turned its back on you, the raw was insane and deafening.

the mrs worked on a tv doc about the vulcan bomber that has just been refurbed. It went out on the history channel a few months ago. I think they are going to film some more stuff soon as a add on to the programme

Cool, can she find out if it will be at the shows this year?

I think they are still waiting to see if they can fly at the moment. Nothing booked in for filming at the mo

Used to watch Biggin Hill from my parents house! Always used to make a point of watching it.

Usually go to The Yorkshire Airshow at Elvington, but it has been changed to a Bi-Annual event so there isn't one this year

update on the vulcan

 

 

It flew once after its refurb, then the organisation who rebuilt become skint as it just too expensive to fly. So don't think you will see it anywhere soon. Shame.

 

The same thing happened when blackpool airport was given a vulcan bomber, It also flew once. Blackpool airport saw the bill for the 1 flight and grounded it for the rst of its life

One of the best airshows is/was the yorkshire air show at elvington (richard hamsters crash site) just up the road from me. Seeing a harrier jump jet hovver right in front of me was fab. Its usually the weekend before august bank hol but I heard a rumour they weren't having it this year which is a shame.
