mbs Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Probably going to be one of the best days racing of the year, but not easy to pick winners. However for what it's worth here are my picks. Don't I repeat don't take any notice of me, you are better off using the Sarnie method of picking winners. 12.30 Chomba Womba 1.05 Angle D'Or 2.15 Franchoek 2.50 Gone to lunch 3.30 The big one the race everyone has been waiting for, IMO impossible to choose between Kauto Star and Denman so won't be having any meaningful bet just going to enjoy what I hope will be a fantastic race. May however a a small EW bet on "Knowhere" at 25/1 Enjoy and good luck Quote
Sarnie Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I'm thinking of lumping my whole £155 winnings from yesterday on Kauto Star Quote
Beavis Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Any tips and bets you are having today announced before the race please, no announcing after the event I fancy Denman i just think he will do Kauto Star, i will be probably wrong........but i always fancy the under dog Quote
Sarnie Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Any tips and bets you are having today announced before the race please, no announcing after the event Being a novice i didn't realise there was a gambling ettiquette Anyway, £155 on Kauto Star is going to return me £316 Quote
H5 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Looking at the odds for the 3.30 you're just picking 3rd. Actually, what are the odds on one of the favourites breaking a leg...?? Quote
mbs Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Actually, what are the odds on one of the favourites breaking a leg...?? No bookmaker would dream of making that bet Quote

mbs Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Actually, what are the odds on one of the favourites breaking a leg...?? No bookmaker would dream of making that bet Tongue in cheek bud! Have gone for a random mix of:- Knowhere 33/1 Iron Man 500/1 Azulejo 1000/1 Fthingy-Du-Paon 1000/1 Hope you've done them E/W, if any of the bottom 3 win I'll give up gambling for good Quote
Beavis Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Is E/W 1st-3rd or 4th? Dependant on runners. 4th place is normally paid at e/w if a handicap of 16 or more runners. Quote
mbs Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 depends on how many horses in the race and if its a handicap. If its a handicap with 16 or more runners it's 1,2,3,4 less than 16 in a handicap and its 1,2,3 and non handicaps only 1,2,3. Less than 8 runners and its only 1 and 2. Its usually 1/4 of the odds for a place. The 3.30 The gold Cup has 14 runners is not a handicap and only pays 1,2,3 Quote
Sarnie Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I keep looking at my bet on Kauto Star and am soooo tempted to lump more money on it................ Quote
H5 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Yep, E/W on them, but got 28, 300, 500, 500 on them with Paddy Power... And a free £25 bet! Quote
Beavis Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Denman for me and a little bit on Neptune Collanges Quote
H5 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 My random betting technique paid dividends....... To the bookies!! Quote
Beavis Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 £250 Had Kauto Star E/W £100 WIN ON DENMAN AT 9/4 AND £5 E/W ON NEPTUNE COLLANGES AT 25/1 Quote
Sarnie Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I had to put a grand on Kauto Star E/W to win the £250 though Quote
mbs Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 Well done Beavis & Sarnie, I've just given back to the bookies the money I won on Tuesady & Thursday, still bought the wheels from Big Phil though. Quote
