StevoD Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) News this morning Porsche are pulling out of Le Man/WEC at end of the year leaving just toyota as the sole manufacture in LMP http://www.thedrive.com/accelerator/12925/porsche-pulling-out-of-le-mans-prototype-class-in-favor-of-formula-e-reports-say Edited July 28, 2017 by StevoD Quote
brillomaster Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 BOOOO well this sucks balls. the first year i'll be going to Le Mans and there probably wont be an LMP1 category. certainly cant see any other manufacturers stepping up now that everyone else is pulling out. I must say what with Mercedes pulling out of DTM and BMW and Audi likely to follow, that'll be the end of DTM as well. Formula E better turn into something that's ruddy amazing, the amount of manufacturers tripping over themselves to sign up. On the plus side, the GTE class in the WEC is looking stronger than ever, with BMW announcing an entry alongside Ferrari, Porsche, Aston Martin, Corvette and Ford. Quote
StevoD Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 (edited) Yea but the GTE class will only survive as it mirrors the IMSA version in america, all the vettes and half the fords only do Le mans they dont do the rest of the WEC calendar, if the Le Man as an event drops off i cant see them making the effort to cross the pond Edited July 28, 2017 by StevoD Quote
StevoD Posted July 28, 2017 Author Posted July 28, 2017 i also imagine with the Death of DTM on the horizon Merc/bmw/audi will all move over to the Electric Gt series and Challenge Tesla Quote
