MrMartinPGrant Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Hi everyone, i need a Driver side complete Headlight unit, for a UK 2011 Nissan 370Z, to be posted to N.Ireland. does anyone have one for sale? Quote
MrMartinPGrant Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 no one? there's no way i'm giving nissan £1400.00 odd i'd sooner trade the car in.. Quote
ZEUS Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 There are a few cars for breaking on eBay, maybe worth messaging them to see if they have a headlight. Quote
MrMartinPGrant Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 i've literally spent week trying ebay and every salvage yard i could find on google, in ireland and the uk. ive now decided tomorrow i'm taking the headlight out, putting it in the oven so i can split it open then dry the water that's in it, and testing to find the fault, i suspect its the ballast that's water damaged, if so im sure i can find one for around £90 used and a new bulb, it's just the thought of the work involved and rip off nissan that has me pi**ed Quote
ZEUS Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 What are the symptoms/ problems with yours? If it's just the condensation then split it and reseal, if it's the light not working then try a new ballast. Quote
MrMartinPGrant Posted October 28, 2016 Author Posted October 28, 2016 the xenon is not working, went into nissan, they put a new bulb in and said, it won't work, then went on to tell me they want to replace the whole headlight unit so has to be ballast, but need to get all the water out of the unit. ZEUS Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 First thing, don't ever go to Nissan they are useless! If there is water in the headlight then split it with a heat gun (look on line) then replace the ballast . Check connections first though. 1 Quote
P15UL T Posted October 28, 2016 Posted October 28, 2016 The ballast usually works again if you dry it for a few days just sit it on top of a radiator and let it dry out 1 Quote
cammmy Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I had the same problem finding a reasonably prices passenger side replacement. Ended up getting a used one from New Zealand as everywhere else was ridiculous. My housing was broken but the internals were fine, so if you need any parts, I have them (I'm guessing the ballast is the same part on both sides? 1 Quote
MrMartinPGrant Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 right, so took the headlight out, got the water out of it, got it completely dried, found where the water was getting in, tested the bulbs, all okay, tested the ballast and found it was faulty, took it apart, it was corroded inside, phoned nissan for price of new ballast, = £1000.00 (one thousand) kid you not lol went on google, searched part number, found one for £80.00. bought it. spent 2 hours tonight putting it all back together. lights now working 1 Quote

MrMartinPGrant Posted November 2, 2016 Author Posted November 2, 2016 The ballast usually works again if you dry it for a few days just sit it on top of a radiator and let it dry out only for the corrosion i's say drying it out would have done the job. Quote
