You'd blister the paint, I suspect.

Paint is cracked anyway and probably will flake off at some point, especially if you try to pop that sent out. Proper way is to take it to the bodyshop.

I'm not worried about the paint - the whole thing needs repainting anyway. I just need to prep it for painting

Might as well take it off and pop it out form inside then, probably with a bit of heat to help

I was thinking that, but wasnt sure about heating it - I have a paint stripping hot air gun and was going to use that
