Poor throttle response. Need help!

Hi

I’ve just bought a 2006 350Z convertible and driven it for a week and noticed the throttle is throttling down far too slowly when in cold or warm running.

When I rev up in neutral, the throttle response is quick and responsive but the revs don’t die quickly and take around 2-3 seconds to return to idle. Other than the throttle, the car runs smooth and there is no knocking noise when idling. I know the previous owner replaced the battery and wondered whether the throttle body needed re-programming or cleaning because it may be sticking.

What are your thoughts? Any ideas what this could be and is it going to cost me loads?

Regards, Gaz

Thanks guys for the feedback the reset process.

I’ve also found a ProTech video on YouTube with the re-learn procedure:

I’ll give it a go this weekend and update this post with the results

@veeg33 and @ Richf@H-Dev

I did the first “ECU Resetting Procedures†followed by the “Accelerator Pedal Release Position Learning†which went to plan. I followed the “Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning†procedure but didn’t hear the throttle valve move during the 10 seconds wait time.

I tried this a couple of times; when turning on for 2 seconds I hear what sounds like the fuel pump turning on, but when I turn off, I don’t get a click or any sound.

I didn’t try the “Idle Air Volume Learning (Throttle Position Learning)†because the Throttle Valve Closed learning was a prerequisite

What are your thoughts? Does the throttle body need cleaning?

Its probably worth giving it a clean , how many miles has it done? You should do a complete reset again after you refit it
