Gas struts for rear hatch

Recommended Posts

Hi there you lot

The gas struts on my fair lady are not holding the hatch up or pushing it open when I press the boot release !!

I either need a set of refurbished or new struts !!

Can anyone either supply me or let me know the contact details of some one who can ?

Thanks

I'd buy springs! I have the uprated struts, which are so strong you need two hands now to shut the boot! I did the penny trick to but its still not popping open properly all of the time. Stronger springs would be greats

The boot release and struts are two separate issues, try the penny trick for the boot poppers, sgs are well regarded for struts.

There was a chap in here doing uprated springs, what happened to that?

Peteman35 was the chap but he's not been on here since 2014.

Thanks all of you for your help

My boot catch seems to be working fine but the gas struts certainly are not but now I have the places to go for them so I'll get it sorted

The gas struts wont push it up when you press the release, thats the poppers. The struts wont actually lift the bootlid on their own power.

This^^. If when you open your boot lid it drops straight back down on your head then it's the struts. If when you press the boot release button it doesn't release first time and stays on the catch then it's the poppers. :)

It is my gas struts !!!

I keep opening up the rear hatch boot to put things in or remove and if I or a friend don't hold it open it tries to kill me !!
