Hi!

I've been having a few problems with my handbrake not holding very well even when I pull it up really high. I've heard it can be adjusted but can't find where in the car to adjust it! A few places have suggested the sliding compartment next to the drivers seat having an adjustment nut but I couldn't find one! My car is a 2006 GT roadster if that helps?

Any suggestions?!

I don't think mine has an ash tray, where would it be? I have a compartment with a sliding lid and a larger compartment behind that, but I couldn't see any adjustment nuts 😕

In the compartment with the sliding lid there is a little felt lined piece to the left that's is meant to be used ot hold a couple of coins, if you left this up (scre driver under it and it pops out), you'll then be able to see the nut that you can use to slacken or tighten the handbrake cable. As Alex says, there is also handbrake adjustment for each brake on the rear disc/durm. Hope that helps.

I'll give that a go thanks. I tried putting a screw driver down there to get the felt lined bit out but gave up as I didn't want to break anything!

i don't think the necessary adjustment is at the cable, it needs to be adjusted at the handbrake shoes. 350z handbrakes are pretty dire, if you're parking on any kind of slope best leave it in gear as well.

My zed came with this issue. I put it down to age.

When I got the car serviced mechanic adjusted handbrake shoes and then checked cable. It is now as stiff as me watching that lass on Countdown ;)
