  1. Good write-up, but the price compared to what we in Britain are going to have to pay is sickening

Yep, if it was £38K over here I'd have one (well as soon as the ebay sales of GF and kidney went through).

  2. ok, why were they put on here then, I said Id have them only an hour after they were listed?

They were listed on the SXOC on the 6th, a few people posted but no real interest until the 14th when Math posted that he was interested in the fronts but the seller wanted to sell the lot together.

He then posted that he had sent the seller a PM but no post back after that from him or the seller.

I only saw them listed yesterday so put a link up here in case there was any interest, Math has obviously seen the new posts on the SXOC thread and then posted up that he had actually bought them.

If there had been a sold post I wouldn't have bothered posting on here :p

  3. Should be a good upgrade for an import without Brembos

I have the two front callipers, two rear callipers, rear discs (a little rusty on the outside but in pretty good nick), master cylinder, pads (probably 5-10mm ish left so would probably be worth investing in some new ones) and all the necessary pins and clips etc. As far as I'm aware they're in perfect working order, only problem is they are a little chipped and scratched as you can see from the pictures.

He's after £500 for the lot.

  4. My dilemma is I've got the money to buy but with the prices dropping all the time I don't want to buy then see the prices fall further.

Every time I go onto Pistonheads or Autotrader I see the same cars for sale and the prices seem to be falling all the time. I was looking at an 05 or 06 but with the way the prices are going I'm now looking at 07's.

The price range is compressing with the early UK's and imports at the bottom and the late UK's at the top but the upper price band is falling all the time and the bottom staying fairly static or only falling slightly.

Probably won't have a trade in either so I'm hoping I can get a good deal.

  5. If the circuit for the hazard switch is the same as the US 350Z then if you look in the US 350z manuals ( http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Service:Index ) the "Hazard Warning Lamps Do Not Operate But Turn Signal Lamps Operate" fault finding is on page LT-155 for the 04.

From a quick look through there is no relay, it's all handled by the BCM module.

Checks it says to make are:

Check that bulb standard of each turn signal lamp is correct.

Check voltage between hazard switch harness connector terminal and ground.

Check continuity between BCM harness connector terminal 61 (G/R) and hazard switch connector terminal 2 (PU).

Check continuity between hazard switch harness connector terminal 1 ( B ) and ground.

Check continuity between hazard switch connectors.

The above checks look easy to do with a multimeter and there's diagrams of how to do each one and what the results should be if the circuits are the same for US/UK.

The checks looks the same for all of the US 350Z's the only thing that changes is the output pin from the BCM to the hazard relay switch.

    03/04 pin 61, 05/06/07 pin 29.

And yes I am bored ;)

And :welcome: to the forum :)

  6. what I'm interested in is how you know what sweaty donkey testicle smells like. I've been to blackpool and I've never smelt that no matter how close to a donkey I've been......

You were obviously hanging out on the sea front with the classy donkeys, the ones with the curled eyelashes, the Gucci "kiss me quick" hats and the manicured hooves.

I think he was on about the backstreet donkeys that have dropped out, given up the glitz and glamour and sunk into days filled with walking the streets, getting by on out of date grain cakes.

  7. The most popular for bodykit mounting seem to be Sikaflex and Tigerseal.

From what I've read Tigerseal is stiffer and better if there's no flexing/movement in what you're fixing whereas Sikaflex is more flexible.

    http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... w=sikaflex

But they are really a permanent fix as once they cure it's very difficult to remove. I'm not sure that silicon sealant will give the adhesive properties you're after but it's difficult to find something else that will hold really well but is also easy to remove with no residue.

Have you read http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14856 as Marzman has just fitted eyebrows with silicon.

  8. Worked in the team that originally developed the DS series for Ferodo and we did a lot of testing back then on most of the competition.

Didn't really rate EBC in any flavour and I think the only pads that we liked at the time were Pagid's. One of the problems at the time was the stiffness of the pad matrix on a lot of the performance pads which limits it's flexibility and it's ability to change to match the disc surface. This can lead to localised hot spotting and rapid pad/disc degradation.

The DS range used to be one basic matrix material with different fillers and friction modifiers added going from DS2000 - DS2500 - DS3000. We tried to give the range the largest performance envelope we could meaning that you still get decent cold performance but still retaining >4Mu on hot performance which a lot of performance pads still find it hard to match.

I know it's a few years ago now and materials have moved on but I still run DS2500's on my S14 (in R34 brembos) and still rate them highly compared to the competition, of the others I've tried I like Project Mu and Endless SSS although I'd like to try Pagids R14's.

  9. Welcome to another SXOC member :)

There are a good few S14/S14a's with 350 rims on, it's a good upgrade considering the pram wheels we get as standard, I went another other route and fitted R33 GTR wheels on mine.

  10. If you're coming from a quattro you'll need to adjust your driving habits or you'll wrap it round a tree!

Basically, if the roads even slightly wet, don't attemptt to go round a corner over 30mph! Have you ever had a rear wheel drive car before cos they're very different. I'm jealous of my mates with FWD cars the way they can throw them round corners and keep accelerating!

    Jealous of FWD :scare:

Surely that should read "I'm entertained by my mates with FWD cars, the way they can throw them into corners, keep accelerating and go straight on" ;)

It's just learning the characteristics of FR, I'm coming to a Z from a S14 so I should be OK I think but there will be still things to learn (like having torque low down ;)). But there have been a good few people on our forum coming from FF to FR who have had accidents due to them not learning the characteristics of their new car before booting it round corners and ending up spinning.

  11. You are right with the fast flashing with a bulb out due to the decreased load on the circuit.

The reverse is true as well if you've increased the load (higher resistance bulb or bad connections, both - and +) causing too much resistance in the circuit on the one side it will flash slower or stop.

Try swapping the bulbs over and also recheck the connections.

  12. I'm tempted by the 07's I've seen around with low miles as I normally keep my cars for ages (average must be 10 years) so if I can get ~10K off list with low miles I think that's what I'll go for.

Started looking at a cheapish import and then spend some money on it, then switched to looking for an UK 06' and test drove a couple but now I've seen a few 07's appearing for <£25K so I'll have to see what deals can be done.

  13. As Nick posted we had a bit of a discussion on this, I've decided that I don't like wing wings if you know what I mean. I think that the the solid spoilers look better, really like this one on Pistonheads which has the Ings with a standard rear bumper B)

    350_Ings_1.jpg

    350_Ings_2.jpg

    350_Ings_3.jpg

I was really tempted by this one as I'm still looking for a Z.

  14. The hat size on the R34 disc is bigger no good for the 350Z and although caliper looks the same it is not , different pad shape and size.

    Thanks

No real problem as I can soon sell the discs once I've swapped cars but I thought I'd check.

  15. Not even got a Z yet but I have R34 brembos on the front of my S14 and I have a spare set of discs in the garage.

The R34's are 324x30 and the 350's are listed as 323x30 so would the spare set of discs I have be worth keeping hold of as the R34/350 calipers look pretty much identical ?

    TIA
