These arguments always crop up. To each their own I say.
Personally I don't like the boxster, or the new 911's, but I'd have a 993.
I don't like Lambo's at all, i think they are hideous cars that sound bleedin horrible too.
Ferrari's... I like maybe 3 or 4 they have ever made, but they also sound horrible, screaming nasty euch.
I do love my Zed though.... and I wouldn't trade it for a 370 either, they may drive better but they have messed up the looks of the back end, eurgh. Would have a GT-R though, alas my budget doesn't stretch so far.
Such a personal thing car choice! Price, looks, engine, sound, how it drives, RWD or FWD or AWD.... V6, V8, V10, V13? Flat 4, straight six? I love the sound of a V6 or a V8 (heaven), and wouldn't give up RWD for anything now! <3

Gotta love the sound of that V13, I prefer the sound of my old diesel Golf to a Lambo or Ferrari anyday of the week....euch to their own

If the fact that an expensive sports car makes you look like a poser then yes, the Porsche brand is pretentious. The thing is that everyone slags off Porsche for being pretentious or common or the obvious choice for someone who wants to buy a car for image alone - the truth is that Porsche are on top of their game and make reliable cars that handle an go extremely well.
I've never been a fanboy of any brand as I reckon you can end up cutting your nose off to spite your face. In fact I ended up buying the Zed by making a list of what I wanted from a car, RWD coupe, great engine, quick, good handling etc etc and came up with the Zed. There were other choices but with a budget of not much more than 10 grand the Zed won hands down for me.
When I see a chap in an MX-5 or Boxter I just assume that he enjoys his driving

Welcome from a fellow ex-GT TDi 150 owner
The PD 150's not a patch on the Zed of course, but a quick sootchucker nonetheless. You won't be missing the torque too much with the Zed and you'll have a decent soundtrack to go with it!
High miler UK GT's do crop up within your budget, don't be put off by import's though

LOL, I know what you mean guys, it's a fairly cool sound but can get a bit irritating sometimes, I mean you can understand it on a stripped out rally racer......
Chris, what second skin sheet did you use, was it the Damplifier / Damplifier pro? How much of the stuff did you use?
Cheers,

I've had my Zed for a few weeks now and was wondering if it normal to hear so much gravel etc hitting the underside of the car, I guess it's stuff coming off the wheels. As far as I can see there isn't anything missing from under the car (wheel arch liners etc).
I know there are options for insulating the inside of the boot area - does this help that much?
Ta in advance.....
-
That's a bargain if the rest of the car is good, bodywork and wheels sorted and you're still looking at well under £10K

hairy muff
I always thought it was "furry muff"
It should never be that......
I always think there's something deeply disturbing about a man who prefers the ultra-smooth Brazillian approach................only children are hair free
I would have thought it makes perfect sense reading the comments in this thread - less chance of rogue hairs in the car and all that
-
Did you try to pair it with the ignition switched to the first click? I think you need to do this before starting the engine but I'll stand corrected if not....seemed to work for me last week

Thanks for the comments and welcomes guys
Welcome, nice looking Z... black is such a nice colour once you keep it clean and waxed!Keep the SAAB 900!
http://www.youtube.com/user/hakanhell#p ... 1UQxI5ZUSU
then again they are the old ones, here is a newer one:
It's the later GM900 (unfortunately) but it's quick as it's reasonably light.
I've been offered a remapped ECU (for 50 notes, exchange part!!) which is an easy diy fit job and takes it from 185bhp to 230 which is awesome for next to no outlay. But it hates corners so I'd need to invest there too - I think the cash is better spent on the Z
-
Jeez, it was two years wasn't it! At least it was worth it
The sootchucker is a term of endearment 350 giZ, I had the GT TDi 150 and while I hated the way it sounded, I did like the way it went
I just need to decide whether to sell the SAAB 900 Turbo 'hack' that was supposed to be a temporary car....
Anyhoo, I put a couple of crappy camera pics into my gallery gallery/album.php?album_id=150
And before you say it Sarnie.......I know it does

A quick (belated?) hello. Been loitering here for awhile and
after a year of postponing my Z plans, buying a Golf GTi sootchucker, then trying to find one in the right spec I finally got one. It's a black on black GT with Rays
Thanks for all of your help and suggestions, the info here was invaluable when looking at cars
-
That looks great, has anyone used one? Be nice to be able to strap a surfboard to the car.

Thanks gmmp, a good summing up!! I'm going to hang on and try to sell it privately then buy a replacement without the complication of px - the more I get out of the px the less I will get off the new car - that's a win win for the dealer and a lose lose for me. Looking at the comments and pricing I reckon doing it that way will have an overall approx gain of £4k (£2k extra for my car and £2k off what I am after).
Thanks everyone for helping me make my mind up!!!
Good plan - and you have the opportunity to buy an entertaining shed while you search for the new car. I'm currently knocking around in a temporary SAAB 900 Turbo

Can you stretch to another £500 for an RX8? It'll be high miles but there are some nice ones about, a mate of mine just sold his 96K miles 2004 fully loaded car for £4,700 which seemed good value to me.
I'm sure you're aware of the negatives and positives of the RX8....
Here's one...
-
Thanks guys. It looks like it'll end up costing a bomb anyhow, so I guess I'll have to sort it out through insurance. Just hoping I get a decent bodyshop. The local official Nissan garages "don't do bodywork work".
At least it's not all bad news then
-
Nice one Digsy, I'll remember that if i buy a spoilerless Z
So were UK Zed's available without a spoiler then?
Leeroy....
-
Thanks guys, one of the cars I'm looking at buying is spoilerless and I'd want to fit one and would be nervous at putting holes in the hatch even if the bodyshop does it.
-
Nice one blades, thanks for that. Not that I don't believe you (!!) but are the factory fit spoilers glued/taped on or bolted?
Cheers
-
Cheers guys, so no spoiler would be a good indication of a JDM, among the other usual differences. I'm looking for a Zed at the moment so this is useful info for me.
Regarding the fitting, are they glued or screwed or both?
Thanks

What's the deal with some 350Z's not having a rear bootlip spoiler? They do look pretty naff without, is it easy to retrofit the standard lip spoiler and does the tailgate need drilling?
Cheers,
