  2. I always love reading what people say about the motor trade when they obviously know nothing about it!

If you want to know just a little bit of truth.

    general dealer markup is 20%.

there will always be more margin in a vehicle the dealer bought at trade rather than a customers trade in. If you can establish which it is you will have a greater ability to bargain with the dealer.

they are not trying to pull your pants down, they are making a living, if they were actually robbing everyone blind they would be retired by now.

Dealers pay 20% VAT on the profit they make. Most people dont ever think about this and slate the dealer for trying to make a fortune.

CAP and glasses are trade guides, they are prices often based on what a car would make at auction or a sale to the trade (especially CAP). Dont assume the value you might get shown is what your car is worth, its worth what the dealer is willing to pay.

Dealers do also get it wrong, more often than you might think and can loose thousands on a bad deal.

last but not least, if you think a dealers job is easy then give it a try yourself and see how many sleepless nights you suddenly have...

    Calm down dear :D

  3. Roadster prices are not as strong so in theory yes but you will always lose out as the dealer will pull your pants down on your car then sell you his at a higher price.

Roasters don't look right anyway. 370z roadster...now your talking :D

  4. I don't necessarily think it's got owt to do with the size of wage packet, but moreso how long you've spent on the wrong/emergency tax code.

It obviously has to have some relevance to your earnings. If you earn £25k per year you aren't going to get a tax rebate of £70k are you??!!

  5. Jap import so it's much better than the crappy UK spec!!

Really? I didnt know this. Please do elaborate.... :snack:

Well my JDM came with full nismo system

    Nismo anti roll bars

    Nismo radiator

    Nismo oil cooler

Not sure if these are standard Japan spec or if I was lucky?

Also square number plates that look miles better

Hardly any rust compared to the UK versions

    8 - 10BHP more :)

So you bought a jap spec car with loads of extras. Means nothing does it unless you compare it to a UK with loads of extras.

The UK cars are a much better drive in my opinion. I drove a few jdm cars and the suspension setup just didn't feel right at all.
