  1. Yeah only there in 1st/2nd that I can hear. The noise is worse when the car is cold. Clutch/Transmission I was thinking.

If it doesnt clonk its a like vibrating noise. If you are very smooth when pressing the clutch (Taking 2 seconds to slowly press it the noise cant be heard). Jumping on the clutch and just releasing foot off the Gas in 1st/2nd gives off a loud clunk.

Starting to annoy me now as i only had the drive shafts re greased because of clicking from the rear 3 weeks ago.

Drive Shaft Loose or Knackered Drive Shaft Joint ???????

  2. If it is overheating whilst you are driving on open roads with no stop

/starts, then it will not be the fans.

The initial things to check are the common air lock issues, thermostat and choked radiator.

Have you checked that a poly bag or something has not got lodged in the front of the grill or radiator restricting the air flow, it has been known.

If it turns out to be the radiator or thermostat then I have preowned ones that I can get to you next day.

I also have a complete set of fans and cowling but I do not think that you will require these.

    Good luck.

    Alex.

  3. got them and all fitted. Cheers...

Out of curiosity, why are they two different lengths?

Depends who the manufacturer is, I have a choice of 4 lengths here

The ones that I sent you are the longest and Nissan OEM. :)

  7. Guys, I'm not using any spacers.

I picked up a set of standard 18" wheels a while back, they came with 20No. wheel nuts, of which half are about 3/4" long and the other half are about 1 1/2" long. I'd like to use same nuts all round and as the longer ones are easier to handle I'm looking to replace all the short nut with the longer ones.

If you can put a pic up of the ones you want to match we may have some in the workshop.

Failing what Phil has to offer, I have a spare set of standard chrome nuts with 4 locking nuts and socket :) or just 20 nuts without the locking set, or 10 standard nuts to complete your set.

Are you still with me ;)

  8. Hi,

    Really need help here!

Have just got the Z back and gear selecton although slightly better is still crap going from 5th to 6th... The gear stick slides to far right when moving from 5th the 6th and i have to move slightly left to get it down into 6th which leads me further to believe that this part i've found is supposed to prevent going from 5th straight into reverse as mentioned by 3FIDDYZ.

Does anyone have a microfiche of this area so i can get this sorted as Nissan are really starting to P** me off. I want my Z back to its normal glory.

I'd really appreciate some more feedback if possible please?

    Thanks

    Russ

No point in beating yourself up over this.

Take it back to the Dealers and tell them in no uncertain terms to get it sorted.

  11. Thanks... The piece in the picture is aluminium though. i'll try upload a side profile.

Does that ring any bells as to what it could be.? going to nissan shortly to leave the car in so would appreciate any quick replies.

    Thanks

    Russ

Inside the OEM shift knob you will find the rubber seal that I refer to.

If you dig that out you will find iether a small metal bush or two metal spring washers ;)

    Hope this helps.
