  1. I'd say they're comparable in a way, in that neither are going to bought by the man in the street who doesn't know a whole lot about cars. Granted, one's a 2+2 and one's a full saloon, but still they're both cars that go very fast, handle very well (probably, can't see lotus failing on that one) and are going to have iconic status, if they haven't already.

Put it this way: I suspect most of us on here would pick the GT-R over the eagle for that kind of money, and we're all car nuts I'm guessing.

But yeah, overall I will happily concede that they're not direct competitors for each other. I'm daft, but not yet totally stupid. ;)

  2. 3:45 a.m on a runway! i.e. a road that just ends after 1.5 miles. Not only was the driver an idiot but all his mates are now dead.

    +1

The only people I feel sorry in that are the families of the dead, as they've got to live with not only the fact that their kids/siblings/whatever are dead, but also that they were completely devoid of any common sense.

  3. My wife occasionally reads this so about £50 ;)

Funny you should say that number, a mate of mine (who sadly passed away last year) was an absolute mentalist when it came to modding his cars: He spent a fortune but always did such a great job that you really couldn't argue the cost side. Anyways, whenever his missus used to ask him how much something cost his stock reply was always "Oh, only £50 love!" and it used to get left at that, regardless of whether it was a brand new turbo unit, a set of 19" Rays or a bit of alcantara for the door panel!

Good ol' lad was Perry. But BOT, I've not spent a single penny yet on my Z, but then that's probably because I haven't even got it yet :p

  4. Guess they're almost ready to go then with the Rapide, given the almost total lack of camouflage on that one. Not sure it looks right if I'm honest: Wheelbase seems a tad too extreme, although obviously it's needed for the extra doors and rear legroom.

Actually, from side on it's not a million miles away from the RX-8.

  5. I'd have quite liked a grey one... :shutup::lol:

No can do on the Wales run, as I'm booked to go up to Scotland for a long weekend with the MR2-ROC (where I'm still a moderator). Shame really, but I'm sure there'll be other opportunities to give her a good run with you lot!

Thanks all for the welcome, I feel at home here already. B)

  6. Welcome and you will love the Zed.

You a vx220.org.uk chap then. Meet a few at LoT days. The Zed is heavy for track and bad on brakes for if you intend to take it out, I recommend

New Fluid, braided lines and upgraded pads.

See you at a meet sometime.

Yup, been calling vx220.org my home for the last 18 months or so, never did get a chance to go out with the LoT boys though. Thanks for the recommendations, that's certainly something I'll be looking at doing now. Mate of mine had a coupe a few years ago and had some interesting moments at Elvington with his due to a bit of understeer and some very hot brakes!

    Whereabouts are you from?

Good point, better update my profile! I'm from Braintree, in Essex.

  7. Not actually my first post as I've been dipping my toes in the Tech forum already, but I'll use this as something a bit more official. ;)

Anyways, my name's Dan and with any luck I'll be picking up my MY06 Roadster GT in Azure Blue next Friday! I've come to this via a heavily-modded MR2 Roadster (complete with turbo conversion) and my most recent toy, a stage 2 VXR220 (257bhp + 290lb/ft in a car that weighs just 930 kg is just ridiculous fun!), so it's a similar step across without really overlapping anything. Whilst the 'Z certainly doesn't handle anything like my last two cars, it's got so much personality and engine note that I'd have been daft to get anything else really. I didn't want anything too close to the VXR either as otherwise I'd end up making unfair comparisons, so the Z won out over my other choices, an S2K and a 986 Boxster S.

I've been searching this place high and low for the last week or so to try and get some background knowledge on the car, and I can honestly say that you lot have a truly brilliant forum here: Friendly and technical, which is a rarity on the interweb nowadays.

I look forward to hopefully meeting up with some of you at some point, and certainly seeing a few of you on track (I'm addicted to trackdays, hence my last choice of car!) sometime this year.

  8. Hi Dan and welcome. Never heard of this problem I use mine a lot for various reasons and after 2 years its spot on. Its programmed to drop a little for opening the door, does it do this properly

IIRC it does drop the few mm, but I'll check that for sure. Am I right in saying that as soon as the door catch goes, the window should drop? No delay?

Gonna be a wtee issue with Nissan probably. so get the owner to sort if before you purchase.

Car is being bought from Nissan main stealer, so they'll have to if they want the sale. ;)

I did mention it to the salesman when haggling and told him I wanted it sorted before I take the car, but wanted some advice on what was actually wrong in case he tries fobbing me off.

Thanks for all the advice, is much appreciated. S'pose I should really go and stick a post up in the newbie section now!

*EDIT BEFORE POSTING* That's exactly the problem on that second post on that link, nice one M13KYF B)

  9. Hi all,

The driver's window on the MY06 Roadster I'm looking to purchase has a slight issue, and I wondered if it was normal/TADTS? Basically, you hit the button to lower it one-shot and it's fine, do it again to raise it one-shot and it goes to the top, touches the rubber of the roof seal fully, and then lowers itself to about halfway. Tried it a number of times and it did it every single time, but if you hold the button it closes normally (no wind noise at all when driving). It's as if the safety lockout (too much force when closing, so it opens itself in case you've got a hand in there) is coming in to play.

Apologies if this has been covered before, I did search, honest guv! I appreciate any advice/ideas anyone has.

    Dan
