  1. thanks for the recommendation. Bit of a trek for just regular servicing, but if I'm after anything more involved, will keep it in mind.
  2. Hey all... not quite sure where to put this, but... Does anybody have any good recommendations for a specialist in the West Midlands (I'm in Leamington Spa)? Thanks Piers.
  3. anybody know of a UK supplier of these by any chance? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NISMO-DURACON-PLASTIC-SHIFT-KNOB-SKYLINE-GTR-SILVIA-GTiR-180SX-6-SPEED-BLACK-/161207797325
  4. like the momo one... presume that's a universal-fit one... did it come with adapters for different threads etc, or just screw straight on? Just found this which I quite like the look of: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Richbrook-Satin-Ttitanium-Push-Down-Standard-Reverse-Car-Gear-Stick-Shift-Knob-/281166779040
  5. great so far! :-) Hope the Mini's keeping you entertained.
  6. will have a look for hte rockingham thing... I've done a drift day at the Oulton facility... in a 200sx with a welded diff... was lots of fun!
  7. Hi all, So I'm going to be getting the wheel re-trimmed (found via another thread on here) in alcantara & leather, and get a gear gaiter, and hopefully handbrake handle done in alcantara at the same time... Of course to go the whole hog, a new gearknob is required too... Anybody know of good suppliers? who's tried/fitted what to their cars? got any pics to post up? is fitment more-or-less universal? Current favourites (as examples) are... Porsche GT3 alcantara style Honda Alu Ball style
  8. where did you get this from, out of interest, and did it fit without any issues/modification?
  9. Will look into the carlimits days... although I was hoping to find a wet-grip place so that I don't need to buy a spare set of wheels/tyres beforehand... Just seen the Rockingham give you "free sessions on our wet grip facility" if you do a trackday there.... so that might be a good option?... http://www.rockingham.co.uk/trackdays/track-days-rockingham.php
  10. Hello all, Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, as it's speculative rather than an actual event, but anyway... I'd like to do a car control day in my new Z... Now I've had a bunch of rwd cars before, and am not opposed to a bit of, er, oppo... but the Z is a big old thing, and substantially more powerful than my previous cars, so I want to have a good play somewhere where there's plenty of space to get to know it Something like this is what I have in mind: Does anybody know of anywhere that does these sorts of days? I know there was a Porsche one at silverstone, but in their cars etc...
  11. stalker! that's on my PH profile! :-P I work for an Activision studio, Freestyle Games (who did DJ Hero back in the day)...
  12. doh. Is this all fully subscribed now? Should've checked the forum events page on THE DAY I bought my Z I suppose....
  13. anybody have pics of these gaiters (from topgaiters on ebay) ?? I like the look of hte alcantara with grey stitching, gear & handbrake, but would like to see one fitted (and hear if it did fit well etc)...
  14. Thanks! Midlands based... pics taken just up the road from Banbury. RE Mods... yes, it has a couple already - Milltek exhaust & Takeda intake... Probably won't do much to it, aside from feeding it's drinking problem, and giving it some new boots every now and then... although maybe a re-trim of the steering wheel & gaiters? Would like to do a couple of trackdays too at some point, maybe get back to the 'Ring before it all gets closed-down...
  15. Hello all... Just bought my first Z last weekend (from a forum member here)... Thought I'd say hi, as I imagine I'll be here a lot more now :-) Coupl'a pics from the first hoon
  16. +1 for that ^^ would love an alcantara wheel, gear gaitor & handbrake....
  17. [Mine's for sale if you fancy a drive.] Whereabouts are you roughly? Was really after a GT, but you never know...
  18. yup, I will have to compare. Was just wondering if you'd expect to hear much mechanical (but not engine) noise generally... I've also been looking at a Z4 coupe (am I allowed to say that here :-P )... which was basically silent apart from induction noise when you put your foot down.
  19. Hello all, Just been to test-drive a 350Z ('56 296 variant)... There seemed to be a lot of what I think was transmission noise in the cabin.. a whiney sort of noise, distinct from engine noise. Is this normal, or does it point to something wrong? Also, the bite-point of the clutch was quite high-up in the travel which felt a bit odd to me. Again, is that how they all are, of is it awaiting some big bills? I plan to go and try another one to compare, but thought it'd be worth gathering the collective wisdom here too... thanks :-)
  20. yeah.. that's what I thought. Not so worried about the suspension.. as you say, I might change that anyway.. slightly more concerned about the smaller rad, cooling for LSD, and particularly the lack of oil-cooler, although again, I guess that's not the hardest thing to retro-fit...... I guess it'll come down to budget and what cars are available at the time more than anything else... thanks all... Piers.
  21. Hi all.. I've just been recommended over here from Pistonheads, as I'm considering a Z for my next car.. I'm thinking about an import as they seem like very good value, but have a few concerns over the differences, as seen in the 'sticky' on this forum : UK models have/is: = larger fuel tank -how much bigger? does this badly affect range? = bigger radiator -it will get driven 'enthusiasticly', is this an issue? = uprated suspension -what are the differences, what's 'uprated' = enhanced cooling for LSD -see rad comment = different (larger) air intake -presume this is of marginal importance? = oil cooler -I'll be at the 'Ring twice a year.. will a jap car suffer without the cooler? as you can gather, the car is going to get used as it was intended, doing a couple of trackdays a year, some continent bashing, and a 'Ring trip or two, and some of these differences make me wonder whether I should really go the extra mile for a UK car... any info/tips/suggestions/advice welcome! thanks all.. any help much appreciated Piers.
