  1. the dealers advise on pad change with a view that you will return after 9k miles....so they approximate the wear and tear on current pads....having said that..

majority of the people at nissan service havent got a clue on what they are doing...and the dealers who do know their stuff are brilliant...and get a lot of business from Z owners who swear by them...

so mised bag of fruits....most of them rotten though!

  2. I wouldnt think that a turbo and SC set up would work...firstly due to space restrictions, secondly due to massive torque spread....there is no way you can do somethign like that without rebuilding the internals...

imagine a linear torque curve from the SC changing into massive torque when the big turbo kicks in....unless you want to film it for an explosive stunt on you tube...its all good banter but not workable IMO!!!

check out Zmanalex's work...pretty good..or else give kevin a shout about the new PE kit...pretty much the best kit out there for moderate gains with least lag.

  3. I get 18-20 in london....motorway driving would stretch it up to 28-30....its not too bad...except when u drive in town too much and watch the fuel gauge drop....

but then again the take off from the traffic lights...thats the reward!!

  4. i changed my y-pipe....the exhaust sounds louder, deeper and mroe free flowing now...throttle response is better.....best mod for exhaust if you like the stock sound!!!!

sorry m8 thats not true...u dont have to change the y pipe for an after market exhuast

you dont have to...but its better you do...the y-pipe change does make a difference and improves the sound on any aftermarket exhaust....i doubt there are many owners running aftermarket exhausts with stock y-pipe...if they are?? change the y-pipe and enjoy the difference..well worth the £150 odd..

im currently running the 5zigen with a stock y pipe... when my amuse r1 titan arrives i will be running it with the stock y pipe... personally i have been told from 07+ it makes next to no difference to add the after market y pipe as the 07+ have a redisgened y section...and i feel that the comment on throttle response is the placebo effect happening in your head as the ecu would minus any gains at all so throttle response wouldnt be improved...

    -ho

dont know about 07+ y-pipe...but the previous year cars do benefit with a change in y-pipe...i guess we shouldnt go on about this as it is my opinion vs your opinion on the matter and its not fair on another member here who has asked us for recommendations...

as far as I am concerned change the y-pipe along with the exhaust and you will be happy...unless you go true dual...the end.

plus...the y-pipe change is needed if you want to upgrade to any other exhaust (unless true dual)....so give it a go if you are on a budget!

  7. LOL am going to take the z4 out for a wee test drive i think! I dnt want to part with the zed its just killin me on the old petrol front! I think the z4 gets about 32 mpgs which is alot better wat am gettin in the zed 19 lol

I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but havent got around to it... perhaps i should start a new thread so everyone sees it...!

I always, without fail get between 300 and 315 miles out of a tank of fuel (approx 21mpg), doing a good mixture of town/country/motorway driving. BUT, last month, after also being sick of spending £90+ a week on petrol, i decided to start driving differently!

I now drive a lot more fuel-conciously... i mean, now i hate having to put the brakes on! I stay on the speed limit, but then if going down hill or something, i'll drop into neutral, until my speed starts to dip.

Also, when approaching traffic light or a queue of traffic, i'll slow down much further than before (mabye 50yds?), and then roll upto the back of the queue - keeping my speed at a level which means i wont have to come to a complete stop - as the queue should have started moving by the time i reach it.

And my favourite - i now go around roundabouts much quicker! Instead of approaching fast, braking, and going round at a reasonable speed - i now approach at a medium speed, allowing me to see the traffic in advance, and then get round the roundabout without even putting my brakes on! It sounds daft but its more fun... im cornering harder!!

So, all in all, i now get approx 400miles to a tank (approx 29mpg), my lowest being 399, my best being 413. Thats 25% more, or another way, about £80 a month for me!

It sounds ridiculous, but its not - i was shocked!

    hmmmm food for thought.

  8. Just watched some NASCAR on FiveUS.

They're on an actual track this time instead of their usual oval.

OMG! How bad is this sport!!!

One driver has even put some tape on his dash which says "look ahead" to remind him that each corner sets up for the nxt one!

F1 is more exciting than this!!

When American independance is revoked by Jeremy Clarkson PM, NASCAR must be scrapped! and all references to it burned!

saw that...i was very surprised to see them turn corners...

  9. Just updated my Signature: I have got Oil cooler and bigger oil pan - car sits below 90c and on hard accelartion over quater miles reaches 110c at most and cools very quickly.

    If so what internals?

i have a feeling its one of those dynos.....35whp equated to 57bhp at the crank etc....

around 380ish at the wheels is where you must stop if you dont want trouble for your standard engine!!!

    bobby

  10. you cant blame opec for sticking to their quota...they have a resource which is finite in terms of number of years left in reserve....if they want to preserve their quota...then so be it...

there are plenty of non -opec exporters out there that the oil companies dont want to deal with due to political pressures.....the oil companies getting supply is not a problem..its the political pressure of which supply they can use etc. that creates shortages..

but road tax, fuel duty and VAT on fuel+duty totalling 70% of pump prices....what are they trying to do???

im goin to chop off my little finger and get on the dole....the way things are goin now...i can run the Z better than with a good job!

  11. blackberry curve 8310 with gps but no wifi...

8320 with wifi but no gps.

    brilliant phone

camera, full organiser capabilities, internet use. pretty much does what you want it do and doesnt look too flashy..proper business phone!!!!

  12. i dont now much about the zeals...but they do sell for a high price in USA...and im still searching for reviews on them...but at the kind of no reserve price that ive bid on...im going to take a risk on it.....lets see what happens with it! im sure it will be enough to improve on stock ride and handling...not exactly KW or tien material...

  13. ok so what is the safety limit for stock internals? every turbo manufacturer give their own amazing hp increases for their systems but as u mentioned they cant be sustained long term on stock internals..

I would say about 380whp for a turbo and about 400whp for sc kits.

those numbers have been reliably done with a good tune and are still going strong without any issues.

anything more and the stress on the internals are a bit higher than what you would like!!

  14. hi all..

252.5hp at the wheels....hmmm...we had a dyno day at TDI a few months ago with about 5 Z's...

    stock 276 machines produced 240-245whp, 07 z's produced 270whp- 275whp.

the 10-12% power loss was standard across the engine ratings of all models..

with that experience and figures in mind...you might want to double check if the equipment readings are different in anyway to adjust the numbers...im afraid i dont know any details of equipment used by TDI .

    Thanks

    Bobby
