  1. Just emailed HKS about replacement life on these, they're recommending 3-5k so I make that every 3000miles or so, This is ridiculous as it makes them an expensive option. Anybody else running them longer?

  2. By the way, if you do go and look at the Rav4's and it has a spare fixed to the boot dont be put off that the door only opens 1/2 way which makes it awkward in getting stuff in the boot. There's a mod that you can install which extends the opening and let's you open the door fully. Hard to explain but's it's on the forums.

  3. Had a Kuga as a hire car last year - I was looking forward to driving it as I liked the looks, but then hated the drive - very wallowy.

If your buying from a dealer ask if you can put dogs in boot try for size etc, if not then walk away.

  4. Rav4 3rd edition - look at 56 plate onwards. My Mrs has one - it's absolutely fantastic. Ours is petrol, 30mpg not bad but it's a brilliant all rounder, bomb proof and fantastic in the snow! Flown through MOT's 3 years on the run now. Perfect for our dog in the boot, you'll easily get 2 medium size dogs in there. Rear seats drop down and great for skip runs. They see to be holding their price as well. It'll be a sad day when we move on from it as Mrs keeps hinting for an Evoque.

Looks better than an estate as well ;) and you'll stay Japanese.

  5. That's correct guys, I did a 250 mile drive yesterday and part way I swapped my modded cassettes with my originals and put it this way with the originals there is no intake noise - just like OEM but with the modded cassettes that's a different story - WOW...I'm so impressed, the best cheapest mod by a million zillion miles. Now when booting it over 3.5k revs it sounds epic.

I'll try and take a close up pic of what's been done this week.

  6. Well I've got mixed opinions on the K&N drop in filters, mine came with them and to be honest they make no difference. You have to oil them as well which personally I'm not a fan of. I just managed to source a pair of the cassettes which have been cut out to let more air in, they also came with nearly new 500mile HKS green filters, so a quick 1 minute job of dropping in the new cassettes with the HKS. Took car for a drive today and it sounds awesome when giving it beans really meaty and loud over 4k, reminds me of my old K&N CAI on my 350z but without the £500 price tag.

I'll probably get flamed for heat soak etc but cant see it being any worse than the cone filters and let's face it I'm quids in.

I'm going to test my K&N's as well and see what they sound like with the cut out cassettes.

I've also got a long drive on Sunday so will see if any performance issues. I've also read up on head soak and there seems to be a lot of talk about it affecting turbos more than n/a but I'm a novice when it comes to these things. I also read about the metal pipes from the induction creating additional heat soak as opposed to staying with the oem plastic. But the guy who sold me the cassettes had them in his 370z nismo without any issues.

A great mod and I'm surprised there hasn't been more talk on it.

  7. Tesco Pet insurance have been great for my Rough Collie who's had a couple of problems. They always pay out as well. PITA pet insurance though as when something goes wrong its classed as Pre existing condition and difficult to change provider.

  8. Epic - better than the original meets. Thanks for coming to my playground....

Who else agrees the evo triangle is over-rated, too many ditches for my liking. Took a lovely drive from Denbigh to the Horshoe pass some fantastic twisties there. Photos & dash cams to follow!

  9. I agree I wouldn't disable the ESP either until you get it fixed! I remember my old 350z was a bit twitchy when the tyres were on 3mm especially Falken FK452 - not a fan of them TBH and wouldn't use them again.

And yes, ESP brakes the car, depending on which tyre is slipping is where the brake is applied. From what I remembered, the ESP on the 350z is sensitive, I remember mine coming on sometimes when taking the long sweeping slip lane from the M6 -> M56 at 70mph, that's a bit of an experience I can tell you!

Process of elimination this one is, could be tyres, what about the alignment if you've got uneven wear?
