  1. Hi, If it is connected to the "Rearview Camera" RCA plug generally you also need to connect the reverse wire on the head unit to 12V so that the RCA input is enabled. For automatic operation the reverse wire on the HU is connected to the reverse light circuit so that every time you put the car into reverse, the HU switches to the reverse cam input. If you have other spare RCA video inputs you could plug the cam in there (temporarily) and switch to one of those manually just to test the camera. I hope this helps.
  2. No problem. If you turn your lights on (car parked) and jiggle the wiring for the horn and/or lights it will probably lead you to the problem fairly quickly. Let us know how you get on.
  3. I would say it's definitely not the horn at fault then. I have just checked the wiring diagram for the horn and if the 15A fuse has been removed, there should be no current able to reach the horn from the horn relay. If the horn sounds when the 15A fuse is removed, there is 12V reaching the horn from elsewhere. The only thing I can suggest is tracing the wiring from the horn to the horn relay and see if it is damaged anywhere. If I think of anything else, I'll post it.
  4. From the checks you have done I wouldn't have thought the horns were at fault. If the horn fuse is out and when the lights are on bumps etc cause the horn to blip, I would have thought that somehow the voltage for the lights is reaching the wiring for the horn. Possibly bad insulation at some point. Does it ever happen over bumps with lights off? I hope you get it sorted.
  5. Definitely all started with it's looks. Side profile and front/corner view are superb It's still one of the best looking cars on the road and I think it will be a classic in years to come. First one I saw was in New York in 2003 and loved them ever since.
  6. Funny you should mention that.... Dominic the Service manager of Marshalls called Nissan customer services to express his view that they should be Pro active and call me because of the issues..!! How about that? A dealer willing to help without a prompt!!... Well impressed..... Nissan have called me with a tolken offering but I think given the circumstances they can do better... I shall let you know what is agreed once it is finalised. Really impressive stuff from Dominic at Marshalls... Just when I started to think that customer service was dead in the U.K car trade. Good stuff. Just don't expect too much from Nissan CS.
  7. I hope you get it all sorted quickly and without any further hassle. Have you contacted Nissan Customer Services at all? I had ordered my Z last August for delivery 25th October. I arrived at the dealer on the day of delivery to be told that Nissan "forgot to build 6 350zs" Delivery was then due in November so I delayed it until January. Nissan sent me £300 in dealer vouchers. Not a huge amount but better in my pocket than theirs and it will go towards the first couple of services. I think you would be entitled to something whether you agree to a fix or a replacement car. Cheers, Austin
  8. Hi, Great video. I definitely want to do the same trip in the Z sometime. If you don't mind me asking, how have you mounted your camcorder? It seems rock solid and picks up the sound very well. I want to get a mount for the car but no idea where to start. Thanks in advance. Cheers, Austin Hi Austin, Bought mine on-line from Hague Camera Supports. Model ref SM1. www.cameragrip.co.uk. It's the one in the left hand picture on the Home Page. It takes most camcorders and comes with an extension bar to cater for the larger camcorders and different orientation preferences. Have not tried it on the outside as yet but would expect good results. Might appear a bit cumbersome for some but it worked well and did not lose it's grip on the windscreen at all. Cheers Steve Thanks for the info Steve I think I'll order one up. As you mentioned it will work on the outside also which is a bonus. Thanks again, Austin

  10. Hi, You can get them on eBay.com. Search for "metra 350z" and then check Metra's website for the correct part number for your year of car. I bought 1 in January and it fits great. Hope this helps. Austin
  11. Just a quick update:- Nissan finally found the alarm problem and issued a re-call last week. The Body Control Module was changed on my car last Friday. So far so good but it is early days. Austin
  12. I received the alarm recall and had the work carried out last Friday. it took about 1.5hrs in total. All keys had to be reprogrammed also. Austin
  13. Hi Mike, I got an answer from someone on the other forum that they had their alarm fixed by getting a module replaced. I'm just waiting for confirmation on whether it was the alarm module or the BCM. I'll post here if and when I get mine fixed. Thanks for your help. Austin
  14. Thanks for the advice Mike. It was a new car in January so I don't think it's the battery. It sometimes won't happen for weeks and then can happen a few times in 1 week. Various members on forums have had modules replaced which seemed to have helped which leads me to believe it's a common fault on the MY07 cars. I just need to find someone who has had theirs fixed and find out what was done. What about putting in an aftermarket alarm system (or don't you guys do that much in the UK)? They normally go through the whole system as they work to make sure everything is okay. Kind of expensive, but peace of mind. Hi Bronzee, It's not an option at the minute as the car is under warranty and the Nissan alarm should work. Thanks, Austin

  16. Hi, Did you ever get your alarm fixed or did you get rid of the car? I got my Z at the beginning of January and I have the same alarm problem. The only way I can cancel it is by removing the negative lead from the battery. I now carry a 10mm spanner with me! Just wondering if anyone definitely had a fix for this. Thanks in advance, Austin
