  1. Following on from this topic viewtopic.php?f=25&t=47641&start=15

Out of interest, what would be cheaper. Putting a 370z engine and tt kit into a 350z to get 500bhp, or forging a 350z engine with tt to get 500bhp?

I'm guessing the 370 engine would be better as the engine itself has not been fettled with?

I know these are probably pointless questions for me as I'm not planning to do anything, but someone will at some point I'm sure.

  2. Is this the true cost or the cost the missus thinks it is? ;) Can't really remember the costs of everything

Mods I've still got on the car:

    Wheels £1200

    Plenum spacer ~£200

    Lowering springs ~£100 + fitting

    Leather trimmed interior £500

ACT clutch and flywheel £600 + fitting

    Stillen engine damper ~£100 (fwiw)

Mods I've bought and now taken off:

    Veilside V1 body kit £400 + £600 fitting

    Carbon fibre engine cover ~£30

    Carbon fibre interior kit £80

    Carbon fibre dial cover £20

    Pipercross CAI ~£120

    K1 exhaust ~£350

Not too bad compared to some :) Lot of wasted money though. . .

  3. Where have you been Chris...? Long time no post...!! Dont think i've spoken to you since Wales '09?

    Leather looks great mate. B)

Yeah been away for a while, had a few problems, but all sorted now :) Got a baby due in the next week as well. Not getting rid of the Zed tho, and hoping to be able to make some meets later in the year. Your Zed's looking good by the way B)

  4. Plus I always got the impression fitting cams moved the power band, and gave you more top end power but lose some bottom end. Seems more of a compromise than an upgrade. You still thinking about it Androo?

  5. Always looking to see if there are ways to legally get a younger child into a Zed but I dont think there are

Where in the law says you are not allowed to take any under 12 yo kids in the Zed? I know is safer not to because of the airbag but is it really illegally?

I don't know, I've tried to read up on it. I know you cant have the rear facing seat in front because of the air bag. Can you legally have booster seats in the front? I looked in the 350z manual and it just confused me. It doesn't take much, I think I need a government state minder to look after me :)

  6. That looks great  , what was the total cost?

About £500 total. The amount of time it took him to do it though, means it's a bit of a bargain. He had to cat away at the console with a stanley knife, shaving about bits of the plastic to allow enough room. Then he'd try to fit it, and they're be another part that wouldn't fit right, so he'd have to pull the leather off again and start shaving more plastic away. Door cards were easier, they were probably £200 on their own, but love how they look. Hated the plastic before.

  7. :scare:

Front page of our local paper under "freedom of information etc" stated that last year 95% of burglaries in our area went unsolved and no one charged or arrested!!! :scare:

    95% :scare:!!!!!!!

Its all down to points for prizes performance related b*ll.

Same points for catching a speeding motorist as it is for a crackhead burglar. Which would you rather try catching?

What is happening to this country :headhurt:

    Rant over, Sorry

It's hard to catch a burglar. Even with DNA in the house, or fingerprints on the point of entry, usually need a confession or corroborating evidence to convict a Burglar. So many easy excuses and the CPS accept them and decide it's not worth wasting public money on a trial. If the CPS do not belive their is a realistic prospect of conviction (more that 50/50), they will not authrise charge. Only 1%-2% of rape allegations get a conviction, which is even more shocking.

The police are rated on charges on Burglary, Robbery and Vehicle Crime, and reduction in Anti Social Behaviour. No prizes for catching speeders. It's down to the individual bobbies. There were a team of traffic officers who used to compete to see who could give the most tickets to other police officers! But then, if someone dies as a result of speeding, people ask 'well what were the police doing about it.'

Anyway, does sound like a pretty crappy day :) How old's your son? Can't find out if a child can sit in the front of my zed or not, websites are all confusing

  8. Think on the US sites when I looked, when someone posts up asking what power gains theyll get, everyone says not much, and they don't seem to bother. When you look at all the effort and work and mods Adam (z1auto) put in to get 300whp, can't imagine there'd be much point in just headers and cams when for 5k you could supercharge and get more. I know you said you don't want that, and FI and NA can't really be compared, but guess that's why people don't do just cams. Would love to know though, so make sure you post results if you go that way :)

  9. Very sorry for such a long delay! I've not been around, and to be fair this project hasn't been long finished. It took so long, that the colour of the stitching had faded on the bits already completed and the leather worn slightly that they don't quite match now  I'm mostly pleased with the result, but it's amazing how difficult it is to add a few millimetres of thickness to the centre console - never imagined it would be that hard. The poor fella who did the work had to scrap it and retry countless times before he got it right! I've seen leather trims before, but never the centre console with the cubby all done. It still opens as well, which is a bonus.

Anyways, heres the pics - please don't comment on the filthy carpet, I know I need to clean my car :)

The company that did the work are called KRJ Trimmers in Middlewich, Cheshire. They mainly work on TVR's and old classic cars, but Ken is very skilled at the work he does.

  10. Sounds like it could be some sort of security setting. Have you lowered the security setting in the browser. Also, try turning off your antivirus / security software - then try accessing the site. You can turn it all back on after, but that will help narrow it down as to whether its norton or mcaffee or whatever being too strict.

If it is security settings, then you can always add http://www.350z-uk.com to a "safe" or "exception" list in the browser / security software which may help.

Good luck on keeping the zed when the little one comes along. My missus is on about babies atm (panic!), and im dreading having to sell the zed and get something "more sensible". My mate managed to get around this by getting a subaru wrx which is tuned to around 400bhp, but its got 4 doors so his missus technically couldnt argue.

I wish computers we not so complicated. Don't know why they don't just do what I ask them to! Am I getting old?

Think so mate. Happens to us all. I used to understand them too, but now I struggle to work the sky + box even!

Sky + box? Is that the magic device under the tv? I'll be shaking my fists at youths soon. . .

  12. welcome back

Cheers Ian. If I didn't have a baby on the way, I'd be getting a 4k loan out right now. Can't belive the amount of people who have bought supercharger kits and body kits to sell them shortly after. I take it you'll be sticking around when you get your R34?

  13. Hiya mate, long time no talk. Good to see you are still about and big congratulations on the new addition. Pop over and say Hi at LakeZ if you can sneak away.

You still got the boat mate. :)

Might take you up on that Mart when everything settles down. Not got the boat anymore, selling the boat freed up around £600 pm by paying off loans and not having river licence, mooring fees and insurance, so it had to go unfortunately. Missing her already :byebye: Better selling the boat than the car tho.

  14. welcome back Chris, what internet browser are you using?

Try this and it should sort it out

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner

I tried that - very good program. Didn't help though. I've used firefox, IE, opera and safari. All do the same, which makes me think it's my computer and not the browser. Get's stuck when it says 'transferring data from 350z-uk. . .' and does the same if i try 370z-uk.net. Sometimes loads if keep refreshing, but last night was trying for around 2 hours and it wouldn't load. Just get a blank screen. When it gets past the log in page, seems alright it's just passing that point.

  15. Hi everyone, not a new member but have been away from the forum for over a year I think, so thought it appropriate to post up. Sure there's hundreds of new members who don't know me.

The reason's I've not been here are that I've had quite a rough last 18 months. The missus has had real problems at work and it just knocks it out of you. Life has been pretty much on limbo till it got sorted out, but we're back fighting fit now. Another problem I have is that my laptop just won't log into the site. I've tried every which way till Sunday, done clearing cookies, changin firewall, disabling programs, cleaning registry, using other browsers, but just won't do it. Been like that since Beavis was a moderator. No idea how to resolve it without formatting my hard drive and starting again (using a friend's laptop at moment).

Not all miserable news tho, got a baby due in 2 weeks :yahoo: It will be the first one, and Im adamant that I'm keeping the Zed! It's not financially viable to sell it, so it'd be cheaper to buy a third car, like a Volvo diesel :scare: (that's my argument anyway).

Won't be able to make it to the drive this May (child care issues) but hoping to get to some meets later in the year.

  16. I was quite chuffed with the budget. I didn't notice a positive difference when VAT was down at 15%, so I'll be surprised if I notice it going to 20%. And public sector wages being frozen is much much much better than them being cut, as was rumoured :)

The cuts come next mon ami

Say's they're being frozen for 2 years - do you know more than me? I know they're planning to increase the pension contributions :headhurt:

I don't have any children tho, and some of my collegues are looking to be £170 a month worse off becuase of the child benefit things.
