  1. i understand that something might of thrown a code up, but something made my car cut out, surely something need replacing.
  2. Dance anybody know how to do the pedal dance? I have searched for it in the forum but I get 100's of posts talking about the pedal dance but none saying how to do it.
  3. it seems like alot of people have had the 2 traction control lights on and it just been a sensor, but nobody has said that there car has cut out because of it. in 5 years though this is the only problem i have ever had so not to bad really, well unless it cost thousands. then it will be horrible lol
  4. hi all, on the motorway today i was cruising in 4th, went to put my foot down and my car felt like it was holding back power or almost forgot to do anything, i instantly took my foot off and put it back down again and it was fine, then i noticed it only had about 90% power, i pulled up turned the engine off, then turned it on again to make sure it started ok, it took a little longer than normal for it to tick over and then it started and the engine light came on and also the traction light and also the traction control off light (car skidding with a line through it). i turned it off. came back to my car an hour later, it started straight away, engine light came on but not the other 2, i drove about 4 miles and then it cut out, i turned the engine back on and all 3 lights came on this time. ive managed to get it to the garage who will hopefully be able to code read it tomorrow if they have time. Any ideas? couldnt tell if i had any power loss once i got back in it as i didnt want to drive fast enough to find out.
  5. the main dials, if it was a straight bit i think id look into that, but in front of each dial (revs, mph etc) it kind of curves out which isnt straight forward i doubt. £280 + vat nissan wanted, must cost no more than £2 to make i reckon, literally a clear bit of plastic about 30cm x 15cm, ok its got a few curves but cant be that expensive.
  6. i doubt anybody will have 1 of these laying about but i cracked mine when changing the led's and nissan want about a quarter of my cars value for a new 1. if you guys hear of anything floating about please let me know. thanks
  7. that button next to tcs on my import is for fog lights, i cant find a button to make my mirrors tilt, guessing it was only on some specs
  8. your a good man alex. much appreciated.
  9. so i understand what your saying on post #11 but do you think changing the oil will cure it, i currently use 5w-30 castrol i think, i think ive had an oil change and it still make the same noise but i dont think it was for a different thickness, so i know fresh oil wont make a difference. ive got a few flat spots when accelerating so taking it to a local garage in marlow where they have a rolling road, so will get him to take a look at it.
  10. hi, heres a video of the noise it makes
  11. i'm interested to know what facts you base this on as they run the same engine? If you look about you will see that imports usually have a few more bhp when dynoed and remapped. I think because they are used to running on 100ron. Also the import has more charecter, square rear plate, square front plate. Folding side mirrors, dipping side mirrors on reverse. Some stuff in the engine that arent there on uk engines. The writings also in japanese so it looks much cooler. JDM for the win. I feel I should disagree. IMO the square plates make it look like an import (ie a cheap 350z -oooh, controvesy) and I'm pretty sure all 350z have folding wing mirrors. My UK certainly does. What is this 'some stuff in the engine' you speak off? Crank? Mine has one too And the Japanese writingdoesn't look cool, it looks hard to read if you're English. Do you own a JDM by any chance? makes it look cheap??? its the same car, if you want to pay an extra £5000 to have rectangular number plates then thats up to you, i just went down to the stealer and paid £80 for the brackets.
  12. hi, when replacing my stereo the other day i found a black wire that came up with the aerial cable. it had a brown plug on the end of it and from there went off with a green and white cable into an aftermarket bluetooth adapter for my pioneer stereo, i have now installed a new sony stereo, (which is awesome btw) but wanted to test it worked ok before putting it in the dash, so i plugged all the harnesses in and nothing!! i then traced the earth wire which ended up going to nothing as it looked like the 350z wiring didnt provide an earth down that harness, i then did a continuity test between that black cable with a brown plug on it and the metal work and i got continuity, i therefore connected this onto the stereos earth wire which then made some noises from the stereo but didnt turn it on, i then eventually put the aerial in and wollah!!!! everything worked. i put everything back together job done, the radio has a very poor reception and after reading a few posts on here, i believe that black wire with a brown plug that i used as my earth is in fact an aerial amp wire and that the aerial itself gives me the earth i need. as that black wire originally wired into my bluetooth adapter on my old pioneer unit, i still dont know really where i should of connected it, Does anybody know if this should be joint onto my new sony wiring harness and if so what colour cable should i be looking for? thanks guys
  13. £1000?????? jesus, think i'll put up with it, you say VQ35DE tends to rattle on startup, so your saying if you bought a brand new 350z (if they were still being made, to stop any sarky comments) and it made that noise when you 1st picked it up, and the chap in the show room said, ''its just that engine'' you'd accept it and drive away?
  14. Yeah i'll try its only when the engine is cold. If i was to turn it off after it made the noise to do it again it wouldnt do it unless i left it for a couple of hours.
  15. hi all, i have a 2003 jdm, done nearly 60000 miles, its making a rattley noise on startup for about 3 seconds, my mechanic thinks it could be the cam chain tensioner, but it apparently has 3, and to do them all could mean the job becoming quite large and might aswell do the cam chain aswell, has anyone had the chain done and remembers the price roughly, just so i can prepare myself. lots of peoplesay its normal its just the engine, but im pretty sure if you bought a brand new 350z and you went to drive out of the show room and it made that noise you would give it straight back, its a bit embarrassing having a nice car and when someone walks past looking at you funny as if to say ''your car sounds a bit f**ked cheers
  16. hi, starting to get lots of condensation in the mornings now, since having a new door i notice there must be a slight gap somewhere, where the glass touches the seal as i hear it whistleing quite loud when im on the motorway, i put the door on myself so its obviously my fault, would a body shop be able to sort this out as i put the door on and it takes ages taking the door card off adjusting the window tilt etc, putting back together again and testing etc. thanks dazzer
  17. i have a blade silver 1, got a nismo sticker on the bonnet (well more like nism now as it has started peeling) just sat in my garage as I bought the 2008 bonnet, I live in high Wycombe.
  18. Awesome cheers. Guys, think I'll get it booked into the garage.
  19. hi everyone, had this issue with my car for a while but not really had an oppitunity to leave my car at the garage to get it looked at. when i start the car (only when its cold) it makes a tapping sort of noise under the bonnet near the belt at the front/bottom of the engine for a split second. if you turn it off and do it again it wont make the noise again until its been left for a few hours. dont suppose anybody else has ever had this problem or knows anything around that area that could cause this, like pistons or something. im not very mechanically minded but it doesnt sound very healthy. cheers guys
  20. 1 question, because they are metal do u hear every stone tapping against it from in the car?
  21. If anybody has 1 of these goin, original or aluminium I don't mind aslong as its in good condition.
