  1. Thanks for the kind words. I love the white ragtop z in the Tokyo pics. It's a shame the springs have collapsed ;)

I had a crack at giving my car a clean and I used AG SRP followed by AG EGP and it looked great. I have a tin of Colonite in the garage but I find it a bugger to use. I must be doing something wrong. The AG products are simplicity itself. I did find glossing up my Twilight grey Z less rewarding than the Azure blue one I had before but it doesn't show the dirt so much, so that's the trade off. The paint still feels silky smooth so no need for a clay session yet.

Blimey the Bridgestone 050 tyres are noisy on the road. My Pirelli Pzeros were whisper quiet by comparison. Same sort of grip on the limit in the dry. I do like the anti kerbing edge to the tyre.

I'm going to get my GT4 wheels finished in 'black chrome' as I think it will look great with the Twilight Grey car. I'll post some pictures when they're done.

  2. Hi CS, The spacers arrived safely thanks. I have some wheel repainting to do on some GT4 rims and then I'll be adding the spacers. I'm also awaiting Pop chargers, white reflectors or side markers and then I'll get to grips with my first mods. I won't be adding a spoiler or body kits though because I love the standard look so much, but top notch I.C.E. is definitely on the cards as the Bose is woeful.

  3. Hi,

I've just ordered a pop charger for my new 350Z and I've got a feeling that I've read somewhere it needs 2. My last Z had just 1. If it is 2 that are needed do I need a different model of heat shield too for the left unit? I looked at the guides etc and only one is mentioned but my instruction manual clearly shows 2 air filter boxes. I'd go and take a look but my car is in a garage overnight. Thanks in advance.

  4. Okay here are some pictures seeing as you asked. When I get a chance to clean her up a bit I'll do a real set for you. This is the car that will be at the meet on 28th June with me (trying to keep this thread on topic). I've noticed a few differences between this car and my old one (apart from the roof and the colour that is) 1. It sounds nicer, more throaty and better exhaust note. 2. Softer suspension, less go-kart like. 3. It seems quicker, even though it is heavier. Obviously there are a few more BHP but there are less torques aren't there?

  5. Thanks for that, I'd got through over 100 posts and I still didn't know the time of the meet and I'm still not sure. I'm going into Bristol for 10am to drop off my daughter and then I'm free. I need to be back in Bristol by 3pm to pick her up so I'm sure somewhere in there I can have some fun with you guys. :)

My car arrives tomorrow :) while I'm out on a photo shoot :( So my wife will sign for it and then she'll go out for a blast no doubt.

  6. I'm struggling to get to grips with this thread. It's very drawn out with 130+ posts and it's hard to find exactly what is happening at what time on what day. Is it possible to cut down the 10 pages of banter to just one post with the list of who is coming and when? Or perhaps start a new thread with an invitation to a specific meet up? I am keen to meet you guys and bring my new 350z roadster and I'll gladly put my name on a list if I could find out how.

  7. I love the wheels. So much so I have bought a set for my Twilight roadster. I want to change the colour to the same as yours before I add tyres and fit them to the Z. Can anybody tell me what the colour is? A paint code number or a name. I like the slightly chrome, bright gunmetal look. It's fab. Thanks in advance.

  8. Beautiful! I think a Z like this in it's standard guise looks fantastic. Just as the designer created. Yours is truly fabulous. As you can guess I'm not one for bolt on plastic bits. The Z is perfect straight from the factory. Enjoy it!

  9. I replaced my crappy Bose units in my 02 JDM with 4 Infinity Kappas, front and rear. The difference was astounding. I kept the Bose amps and the original wiring but put an Alpine head unit in so I could use my iPod in the cubby. I kept the Bose sub as it is fine. I used two PAC boxes, 1 as an interface between the Alpine and the Bose amps and the other to enable my steering wheel controls to operate the Alpine and iPod. The sound was sweet and not at all tiring to listen too.

    I hope this helps.

    Damien.

  10. For me it came down to money in the end. I was not prepared to pay £3k over the odds for a Night Blue car. I spoke to the sales director of the Nissan dealership and offered cash there and then if he price matched Evans Halshaw and he wasn't even prepared to budge £500. I expect they may have paid too much for the car and are hanging on to a dream rather than cut their losses. Or maybe my dealer made a boo boo on the sale price.

I'm quite liking the look of the Twiglet (twilight) Grey after all. It will be easier to keep clean with no swirl marks etc.

After setting this controversial post on it's way I have read the banter with interest and from what I can make out the most obvious answer to the question has yet to be raised. If the proportion of buyers that select each of the car colours when new is the same as the proportion of buyers selecting similar colours on the second hand market then everything should be fine. For example, if 8% of new cars are ordered in the Chili Pepper colour, then 8% of the second hand market buyers should be looking for the same colour and 8% of the supply should be Chili also. That argument assumes that the supply level is regular for all colours. If for instance owning a grey car upsets more owners and forces them to sell their car early we may see a pulse of low mileage grey cars on the market at the same time outstripping demand. This in turn will force the price down and I get lucky:)

    Damien.

  11. I just sold an Azure 02 JDM with 65000 miles on the clock for £8450. It had 1 month MOT but was a good car in good condition. Expect a UK car to be at least 1K more. My car was as old as they get as it was first registered on the launch day in Japan. Another JDM sold for £7995 on Pistonheads the week before last. Loads of early cars are coming in from Japan at 9.5K at the moment with relatively low mileage. You'll get lucky I'm sure.

  12. I'll do some pictures next weekend and post them up.

I'll do my best to get to events this summer. The Wales run is my kind of event however I'm photographing a wedding in Cornwall that weekend:( I've taken my Z to Japfest before and I'm always up for impromptu get-togethers if the diary allows.

I now face the longest wait of my life.

    Damien.

  13. I bought Twilight grey in the end. The offer was too good to miss. I got the roadster I wanted in a non swirl showing colour ;)

I assure you I didn't rush it. I advertised my coupe on Friday sold it on Saturday and bought my roadster on Monday to be delivered on Friday. I'm worn out now so it must be time for a beer:)

    Damien.

    I'm very very very excited.
