  1. Other than kicking a fuss with the original dealer, I don't think you will get far with this, who's to say you did not change them during the time you have had the car.

This is the value of double checking everything on delivery of some new item, including servicings (check oil is clean etc... basic but worth it...and with tyres I always walk around the car, torque check and check pressures with my own gauges...as I had a prik-fitter forgetting to torque my wheel nuts once on an old car and nearly lost a wheel)

If you kick a fuss it might make them a bit more aware the next time and give the spotty teenage technician a clip round the ear, he'll pay more attention next time...

  2. 36k miles gets you a P3 service (the most expensive service)

    280 quids gets you...

    Oil

    Filter

    Brake Fluid

    Air filter

Standard Gubbins checks (greasing hinges, screen wash etc...)

They will run a Diagnostics and check the ECU (not sure they do anything after checking through... )

They'll tell you if you need your pads replacing... ( which is extra money in their pockets if you change them... )

If you are very caring over you car etc... you could have the T/M oil and RR Diff Oil replaced... ( it is indicated for 36k service, but Zeds actually don't need them...) but this will be extra cost...

Overall it feels like the dealer has inserted a bit shaft up yours and you gladly payed for it... while he's laughing at you.

If your car is not in warranty go to a specialist...

you'll probably get all of the above better done and at a lower cost...

If it is in warranty figure out if you think you are going to need the warranty left unchallenged... (personally I wish I took it to a specialist)

  3. I also say that the Zed has had it's day in that the production figures have peaked in the UK.

    :yahoo:

we are at the start of the cult car status for the 350's...

suddenly these will start to become desirable and worthy of a second look....

Who says inmortality is not possible :p:teeth:

  4. I know it does not sound cool or impressive but mild soapy water is all you need, rinse with a clean wet cloth and let dry naturally...

You have to be very carefull with cleaners... they might do a good job but later on after a good summer season the leather will start to dry and crack irreversably...

Leather in car interiors have to withstand heat and cold and UV attack, for this reason they have coatings applied, which will protect from this. (Imagine if you leave your leather jacket in the sun over a summer season, baking in some cases over 40deg C (cabin temperature)and see how it comes out...)

Also Nissan will test against other common chemicals including sweat...

Some cleaners are too acidic, have spirits, or elements which will take the flexibility out of the leather...or other chemicals which can damage the treatments applied by Nissan...

My advice... warm soapy water, clean with a very soft bristle brush and rinse with clean water (wet cloth, don't soak it) ...and let it dry naturally...

theres a nice GT spec Chilli on this forum... high mileage and a bit over your budget again... but I would say don't let that put you off, as the engine will do double that and still feel NEW...

Unfortunately a lot of people will be put off by that...but the engine and high mileage on a well maintained car is never going to be an issue...

you are more likely to have "niggle" issues at lower mileage in this car that you are of having durability issues... The only durability issue i can think of is T/M related so ensure you take it for a good test drive and check the gear change, specially sixth gear on models pre-2005.

(Niggle issues examples, CD skipping, window drop and wind noise, a small rattle and squeak, paint chipping, these are not mileage related, but just setting, or design specifications, or parts quality... )

  6. common guys lets not be too critical and give credit where its due...

the scoobies and evos are phenomenal road tools...no one can argue with that... if you want the fastest road going car for real driving situation you will choose evo or scoobies... if you want to factor coolness, looks exclusivity etc... then you move on a different league of vehicles...

that is where ZEDs come in ... a good balance of design , styling, power, handling, exclusivity and appeal.

  7. on uk twisty a-roads, car vs. car impreza will probably win every time.

the only differential is driver skill... If you are a better driver than he is, and you can use the 350z better than he can the 'prezza... B) then you have a chance of beating him... specially when adhering to speed limits... guvn'r...

on a track... could be a different story... and "on the pull" completely different again!!! :teeth:

  8. :ninja: since i sold my sticker to explain how to fit the golf bags... I have now taken on golf and am struggling to fit the golf clubs in the back...

I don't want to risk it by adding another club to the golf bag...

for this reason... I am out. :p

I have got a colleague who just achieved his target of 18 handicap... and he is going to treat himself to some new clubs.. he might be interested...

  9. Hi I'm a bit of a noob to the site and I have a few questions to ask.

    1. Is there anywhere I can download a workshop manual?

    http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2945

    2. I had some registration plates made but they are not a good fit at the rear (import 350z). Is there anywhere in the scotland area that I can get these made up properly without having to saw off the sides?

Ask to have motorcycle (square type) plates made... any HAlfrauds etc will be able to do them...

    3. My car's an import. I have the service book but its in Japanese and kilometers. Can I get a replacement in English from Nissan?

Yes... can be ordered, but they will not transfer the details from the japan book to the new one..

    4. What does JDM and OEM mean?

Japan Domestic Market (made in Japan, for Japan)

Original Equipment Manufacturer (means nissan, honda, vw etc...)

OEM parts are parts from Nissan dealers , not third party copies etc...

    Thanks for any replies

    hope this helps...

  10. In my limited "Englinese".It's more about the development and the features it contains.

But no detail explanation of setting changes...

    Looks a very impressive unit!

I only know a few words in Japanese, and I would have to see them to see if I could figure them out and maybe change the settings, but in my past experience of Japan units, they will not have English settings...

but if you can find a similar version for US the menus could be in the same position on the display so just follow the sequence and ignore the text... have a look in here...

    http://www.eclipse-web.com/download/manual/index2.html

but the specs of non Japan items tend to be lower spec, lower tech units ...

    good luck!

(and if you give up and put it for sale on ebay let us (me!) know...)

  11. yep... i am thinking this ... the only way I can 100% be sure is to do a bit of dismantling and remove the aerial base and check the opening edge...

    Maybe this weekends job...

Thanks for the advice guys
