  1. I like them!! They can't be that hard to make? I've got friends in Germany who buy Skylines from me and do a similar conversion for the TUV test also the design is of a much less fancy one.........i wouldn't mind a go at this :teeth:

  2. I've been lucky enough to own some great cars, it can be fun running a car business when it's going well :):) I owned the yellow 996 a couple of times, i had to sell it originally to clear a VAT demand then i took it back as a part ex against my 996 Turbo..........now that was a fantastic bit of kit!! I then sold it to fund an R34 GTR, i also loved that.......for a while anyway :teeth:

You are always welcome to pop in, kettles always on!!

  3. Thanks Dave!

Ian the place on City Road, that's not the replacement for AutoImage is it, owned by Chris?

They used to be great and their work is normally very good. However an incident with the owner not paying after I did a load of web work for him has ummm left me avoiding the place :(

I used to love AutoWorx in Treforest while Shaun owned them but alas he's moved on as well ;( are we losing all the good chaps around here?

It is yeah, he's done quite a bit for me & friends in the past :)

I wasn't that impressed by AutoWorx when I got a quote off them for my Z but they did a great job on another members Z.

I've PM'd you both the details, you are both welcome to see a couple of my cars they've recently painted  .

    Dave.

You'd be welcome to pop up in the GTR Ian, i've had 4 R34 GTR's in the past and loved them all :teeth:

I might take you up on that offer next week some time  I'm only down the road in Caerphilly so not too far away.

I see you also sold my mates old NSX :cloud9: That was also painted by Auto Image/Auto Body

I've had 3 Honda NSX but i presume you mean the supercharged NSX i bought from Ary :teeth: That was by far one of the nicest cars i've ever owned and was made perfect by Ary in every way!! I did catch the LHS extended air scoop on a Focus smashing off the end piece but the guys at Albion repaired it to a brand new standard for around £100, pretty good when a new one was £600 :scare:

Pop in anytime, the kettle is always on!!

  4. I've got a brand new / boxed / unused Japspeed exhaust there if you fancy that? It's a twin box type so i'd presume is reasonably loud, i some how ended up with 2 and never used either as my car already had one when it arrived :teeth:

    Looking for £120 for it.

  5. I'm in the motor trade and use a local painter who's not only excellent but also very reasonable. Another good point is that they have no interest in 'seeing how quick your car is'............another vital element in my eyes!!

I've just had some paint done on my 350 and they've done an outstanding job yet again. The blending is excellent and i've never been disappointed with them as of yet. They've done everything from full re-paints to small blow ins for me on all cars from BMW X5's to Mazda RX7's.

It may be a bit far from you though as they are based near to Blackwood but they may be worth a call?

  6. Why does he need to buy into a franchise? He could do this himself simply by a little market research on products & pricing then cold calling around his local area. When i was 19 (loooong time ago) my dad bought me a Ford Transit van that i used to start up a moblie fruit & veg shop that i built up over several years. I eventually finished that around 12 years later due to ill health but at that point i was earning at least £700 a week and had acheived that for the previous 5 years. No fancy franchise that took a percentage of my earnings nor was i forced into an overpriced leased vehicle. That was hard work especially when you could knock 100 doors to have them close in your face!!

A mate of mine recently took on a Chips Away franchise against my advice, i think he's now around £40k out of pocket as it didn't work out for him :scare:

Tell him to start a business that interests him personally as if it's something he enjoys then it's far more likely to work. I got used to cold calling but when i finally did build a solid customer base life was so much easier, takes time and hard work but at least you reap the benefits rather than giving it to someone else!!

  7. I went around 3 years ago and stayed in the Bellagio, fantastic place and Simon Cowell was stopping there at the time :teeth: If i were going to party i'd probably stay at Caesars Palace as that was a little bit madder :band: I'm definately going back there as soon as i've finished building my new house!! I agree with Lexx on the Cirque shows, we went to see 'O', quality!!

    Dave.

  8. Not a bad reveiw then of my 'quilted' leather seats :teeth: I wasn't sure whether to go down the completely mad route as i may choose to sell the Z if i get tired of it and i wanted a reasonably conservative look to them. My local upholstery guy (Steve at Autostitch) did these as he's done a few VW T5's for us and as usual he's done a first class job as the original cloth seats were looking a little shabby.

They are going back into my Pearl White Z, out of interest what colours would you guys choose??

    Dave.

  9. I often get this with my Skylines and Subarus, it'll probably just be a corroded terminal. Take the bulb back out and clean up the inside of the holder, that should do the trick but don't forget you'll need to find why it's leaking. If that doesn't work try testing the holder for live & earth, the live section is the bit in the middle then earth at the side

  10. A pic of the exhaust would help  existing one and new one...

Try ZedmanAlex for the lights and bonnet catch....

    :welcome:

Actually if you post a pic of the lights someone might fancy a swap...

One mans cheese is another mans caviar

I'll try and get a picture up today of the lights & exhaust........good point and it would make life easier

  11. Just bought myself a nice Pearl White Z with a K1 exhaust, it's too loud for my old ears so i've bought an aftermarket single stainless back box that i hope sounds nice without making me deaf. Went to fit this yesterday but the centre section of the exhaust is not compatable as it has 2 outlets rather than 1 so i'm looking for that section please. I don't mind if it's a standard of aftermarket item so let me know what you have :D

The second item i need is a bonnet catch as mine is not locking properly, a good used item is fine.

Lastly my car has been fitted with aftermarket rear lights that i don't really like so also need a set of these, the car is a '55' plate and i'd be happy with an LED type or standard set.

  12. VAT at 20% and Import Duty at 10% on the total cost is payable, when we import cars from Japan eg we pay the VAT & Duty on the total price paid and this includes the shipping costs

Insurance has been mentioned and this is a good point, a good friend imported a Rolex from the USA and declared a cost of $700. The C&E (unluckily for him) picked up on this and then charged him the correct amount of VAT & Import Duty. The watch then went astray but then returned to light but upon collection the box was now empty!! He claimed on the insurance and guess what he got paid?? Yes, he got $700

An unfortunate but very true story!!

    Dave.
