  1. Don't want to alarm you any more than necessary, but this is what happened when I tried to rub out a minor scratch using Turtle Wax Scratch remover - I'm really pi**ed off and I reckon it will be difficult to repair without a respray of the panel.

How old is your car? You might not have actually done any harm, its just you have brought back to life you paint - just in a small area. When I polished my black car the area that I polished visibly a different black.

Chances are if you gave the whole car a good polish it would even out the shades

  2. If you search around you should be able to find one for 18K with around the 30K on the clock, specially if you don't mind the more common silver/gunmetal ones. If you want a rarer colour like red or black then its much harder to find a cheaper one.

  3. Nah - tried a few and found..

ScratchX was good for a hand removal

SSR1/SSR2 - Gave a nice deep black colour back to the car but did not quite remove the swirls

I have just got hold of some SSR2.5 which I have been recommended.

THe next stop was that Blackfire Sealant as I had seen a couple people mention that with good results on a black car.

'IF' it stays dry this weekend I want to give it a good pre-winter clean and polish

  4. My experience of westway is not good. 3 times I phoned up to get a price on a 30K service. Twice my number was taken and was told I would be given a call back but never got it.

I went to Sparshats which I can highly recommend. Answered the phone first time, gave a competative price and then was suprised to see a good £33 taken off for supplying my own oil.

Did the service without any problems and greased up all the points I had cleaned a bit too well :D

  5. 21.

Can other symbols (e.g. national flag, football team crest) be used on number plates?

The Government announced on 28 December 2001 the intention to permit the display of national flags and symbols on vehicle number plates. When the regulations are amended they will provide for the voluntary display of the Union flag, Scottish Saltire, Cross of St George and Red Dragon. Football team crests etc are not allowed.

  6. Current system is stock but going in is...

    Alpine Head Unit ~£200

    Audison LRx 4.300 ~ £400

    Focal Utopia 165W ~ £550

    2x Focal Polyglass 21V2 ~ £300

rought cost of this system would probably be around £1500 including cables. pulled a lot of favours for this one so has not really cost me much.

  7. There is no need for them. I have had them in my 'younger' less knowledgable days but thats before I had heard a good system. I have since had some very good 2K+ systems

A decent system with front components & sub and you will never need rear speakers. There is only 1 scenario that rear speakers are needed and thats if you are playing with 5.1

  8. Did you fit them? How easy is it to fit the tweater in the top of the door?

Er no well they are still to be fitted but once ready I will be doing it. I've already prepped the sub boxes & amps just need to put in the wiring and then time to get the comps in.

  9. Forget about the rear speakers. Disconnect them, save your money and you will have a much better sounding system. You would be better off spending the money on an amp for the front components etc than rear speakers. Its bad enough in a hatch but there is NONONONONO need for them in cab the size of the Z.

Save your money and spend it on good components or amp

  10. I am just about to put a new system into my car but want to make sure my bose system is working fine so when i retro fit it to sell the car its all fine.

I find that the Bose system is REALLY rear heavy. Even if you fade it all the way forward its still not great and that also looses a lot of the bass. With the balance set to even the front speakers are almost inaudiable.

    Is this normal?

  11. Nah in the last 1-2 years the % of illegal auctions has rocketed. The biggest problem is its too well know now lol. All the scam artits are using it. Its much harder to get a bargin on it as there is always other people wanting it.

As an auction house I think its gone down hill massivly. The part that is good is the shops which give the smaller trader the bigger market and also the chance to get things without being stung i.e. I got some velcro zip ties from one which were way cheaper than any other internet shop

  12. Looks like I won't be driving my car up as I am helping out taking a car up for a trade stand. Shame as it looks like my install will be all done by then.

As you say the D1 is now going on there so if anyone is thinking about going go. It makes shows like JAE etc look like a mini meet.

  13. no need to replace speakers........... if they are 2 ohm they can be rewired to 4 ohm......... :p

How are you going to rewire them to give 4 Ohm without loosing left and right channels?

OK, naievely/noobishly: Can't you just wire in extra 2 ohm resistors into the loop to each speaker?

Well yes you can but then you have to worry about the other feature of it. It might only be 2Ohm but its not the usual 0.25W resistor you would need. Have a quick look around for even just a 50W resistor :)

The cost of the resistor will not be far off the cost of speakers lol

  14. How about a section where people could post how much they have been charged for something. i.e. something like below would be posted

    Dealer : Sparshatts Nissan

    Job: P1 - 30000 Service

    Price: £121

Notes: No loan car as waited & Filled up washers before going so no extra charges

This would help people when they are looking for information about costs at various places. Might also be worth breaking it down into North/SouthEast/SouthWest etc
