  1. also make sure you have the name and addy of anyone driving your car. My neighbour recently advertised his car in the local paper (only an old fiesta) test driver took it down the road, got zapped by a mobile speed camera, returned the car and cleared off. 14 days later my neighbour has a summons and ends up with a fine and points.

  2. If the red one that martin is on about is available then you should think very seriously about it. Mark is a top mechanic, very good with nissans, and looks after his cars. I could never understand why it wasn't snapped up when he offered it for sale.

  3. Hello peeps

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 4 May, We hope to see you all again after last months great turn-out. Bring your friends and let’s make it bigger and better.

Remember: let us know what you think, comments, suggestions and constructive criticism is appreciated. We have already received requests for a second monthly meet. e-mail: nottscarshow@hotmail.co.uk

  4. It should be a very interesting event at North Weald with the special facilities they are allowing us for the heads up eliminator. Never been done before. The more that enter the better the chance of carrying it on in the future.

    Spectators also welcome.

  5. Please note that this is not an attempt to 'pinch' members from this club but you will need to be a member of the Z club to compete. I understand a special membership rate will be available at North Weald in order to enter the challenge.

full details of the rules of the challenge are displayed on www.zclub.net. Don't forget your crash helmet and I believe you will also need a long sleeve shirt to cover your arms.

This is an attempt to further improve the good relations that exist between the UK Z Clubs.

(and of course for the 'senior' cars of the marque to thrash the arse off you modern buggers :drive1

First ever head to head Z eliminator in the UK

Z Club Drag Challenge – North Weald 8th May and 4th September

This year’s Drag Challenge has been extended to a massive ten round extravaganza and takes in three of the established drag venues around Britain – not just Santa Pod this year, but a round at Shakespeare County and two at North Weald in Essex.

It is the North Weald rounds that have turned into something special – for the first (and possibly the last) time, we have been granted permission to run our very own “heads-up†eliminator. Not only will individual runs count for points in the Drag Challenge, the fastest eight (or if really popular, sixteen) cars will compete against each other in a side by side, Z specific, elimination contest and big bonus points in the challenge will be the reward.

You think you have a quick Z and ZX? Always burning off the opposition in the traffic lights Grand Prix? Then this is your chance to shine and prove to the Z community that you are King of the Pile!

The eliminator rounds (and the Drag Challenge overall) are available to Z Club members, but we open the challenge to members of other Z and ZX clubs who can join the Z Club at a specially discounted rate on the day.

Arrive early at North Weald (just off the M11 at the Harlow junction) as the number of cars signed on is limited and the venue is very popular. Sign on with the official of the day (Mike Feeney), get your car scrutinised by the track officials, pay your entry fee and line up for your practice runs. N.B. you will need to wear a crash helmet for this venue. All times will be gathered up to a cut-off at 2-30pm and the fastest eight (or sixteen if response is good enough) will be arranged into a competitive ladder system. The first round of eliminations will begin at 4-30pm and entrants will have privileged entry to the track in pairs. The winners of each round will then line up again in their new pairs until we have a pair of finalists.

Strict drag racing rules will apply. First through the top end traps wins. First or worst fouls will apply and eliminate the offender – red light, crossing the centre line etc. Reaction times will be key, especially with closely matched cars – as they say “You snooze, you lose!â€

Giant killers welcome. Further details, questions etc., contact Mike Feeney (Mr.F).

Other dates for the year include:

    18/19th June – Santa Pod JapShow 1

    2nd / 3rd July – Retro Show Santa Pod

    23rd / 24th July – Shakespeare County (Avon Park)

    21st August – Santa Pod

    17/18th September – Santa Pod JapShow 2

    2nd October – Santa Pod

23rd October – Santa Pod (30th October is Rain-off Contingency Round)

    ZED – FEST 2011

Once again I am pleased to announce that the above event will be held at Sherbrooke Scout Camp, Mansfield Lane, Calverton, Notts. NG14 6HP on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 12, 13 & 14 August 2011. Please note that the date has been brought forward to avoid the clash with JAE.

For those of you who are new to Sherbrooke there are 22 acres of grassland plus a five acre wood.. There is one clean but basic toilet block with loos, wash basins and showers. There is a modern barn and social centre with outside patio area and picnic benches. Oil drum BBQ’s are freely available.

We will have a licensed bar and excellent catering on site. All main meals plus snacks will be available at reasonable cost between 8am and 10pm. We will hold an inter club sports competition with some “easy†motoring related sports.

(The Z Club AGM will be held during Saturday afternoon). Your cars will be on show for the whole event and judging will be held on Sunday lunchtime followed by prizegiving. Fancy dress on Saturday night is optional.

Background music for the entire event will be provided by our very own DJZ complete with lazer and smoke show. There will be dancing on Friday and Saturday nights and on Saturday live bands will be playing for us.

There will be an entry fee charged of £10 per person for the event. You can pay at the gate. Camping will be £2.50 per person per night. Caravans & mobile homes admitted at extra charge ( hook-ups available). Small children and pets free. Local hotels and B&B’s are available but you are requested to make your own arrangements.

TRADERS; All club traders are invited to attend. You can set up your own display, big or small for a donation of £20 for the whole event. Come and meet your customers in a friendly convivial atmosphere. It’s good to see the voice on the phone or the finger on the keyboard. If you don’t want to set up a display a gazebo and a banner will suffice just come along and show your customers who you are.

Free car booting for non traders to get rid of those useful parts you no longer need.

Once again I will need the help of volunteers to assist with the smooth running. It is always good to see new faces helping out.

There is still much to plan and new ideas are always welcome. Please mark these dates on your calendar, this will be a weekend to remember. Further information will be circulated as it becomes available.

Please note for the more adventurous of you. This year we will have access to the Climbing Wall. There will be an extra charge for this and qualified instructors will be available. Please let me know in advance if you want a go.

All enquiries to me, “Arkwright†email: shop@zclub.net

  8. The first meet is over (breaths a sigh of relief) and we had over 90 people there. A superb location on a beautiful sunny evening. Some lovely cars on display. Good food, a bar, 2 bands and great company.

Next meeting is Wednesday 4 May 2011. See you there?

  9. YOU have got to decide if it's the car for you. No-one on here is going to drive it, many will probably never see it. See if you can knock the price down a little more as you'll be going with ££ in your sweaty little mits. If it's cheap, runs ok and you're happy then what the hell. You've got a smart runabout for the summer. It's 6 years old, who's bothered about service history now? You won't get any more because of that if you chop it in next year.

If you buy it spend the weekend polishing and fettling, change the engine oil and filter and check everything you can think of or take it for a MOT, a cheap way to find any probs.

    Good luck.

  10. IMPORTANT NOTICE - Z011 cancelled

I am very sorry to anounce that Z011 has been cancelled. The committee did not take this decision lightly but the lack of confirmed attendees has made it impossible to justify the investment of time and money required.

Apoligies to those who were looking forward to this event, we will do our best to make up for it at our other 2011 events.

Having said that our flagship event, Zed -Fest, will go ahead as usual at Calverton, Notts on the weekend of 12, 13, 14 August 2011. We hope to see many of you there as usual. (Full details later).
