    Squeaky brakes??

Im not saying you cant i dont personally use anything and have never had a problem. But i was just pointing out how careful you have to be mate you can contaminate the pad material without realising once this has happend then the trouble begins most people do still use it with a little finger nail splodge on caliper piston and the rear of the brake pad..... But have to say to elimanate this i dont use it and have never had a problem most of the pads that i have fitted(EBC as this it what i retail in)have the shim fitted....along time ago i had EBC greens and had squeal problems explained what i had done.....this is when EBC sent me another set and told me to fit them without which i did and guess what no squeal....so ever since i havent used it lol
  5. If you want some more mate look at the NEW BLUES mate from EBC you wont regret it
  6. EBC yellows you know it makes sense lol ignore what you have heard in the past from peoples reactions to EBC pads it is all change now just look on sites like scoobynet ect......all the new material are being raved about "Yellowstuff fast street and trackday - code AF93/94 on box end (base code DM 1793) Street legal to ECE R 90 regulations. Just starting to come through Surface Scorched now which means these bed in FAST.(EBC toast the surface in a special infra red tunnel to take away the bed in fade and loss of track time bedding in new pads for you) " You wont regret it or money back!!

    Squeaky brakes??

The only time i use grease is to lubricate the caliper sliders i have never smeared any onto the rear of the pad.in the bedding procedure you can sometimes get minor noises which occur in early pad life...bedding in procedure is normally 500 miles also you can get pad noise from some pads that do not have a chamfers these do help to reduce low speed brake noise. Also the bed in coating EBC apply to alot of there pads also helps to bed pads in quickly and again to reduce brake noise. But i suppose if grease works for you then dont change something that isnt broke

    Squeaky brakes??

sorry not worded correctly here you go this might make sense lol “Molybdenum Sulphide greases are not recommended by EBC brakes on any part of a brake system because of their very abrasive particle content and their low thixotropism (means they are thin) . Also their low melting point means they can, in our experience migrate under vibration onto brake pads or the rotor hub and then “Spin out†up onto the pad surface. EBC has received numerous sets of returned brake pads and discs that showed streak lines where the grease had radiated out from the hub and pads that were black and polished on the surface and low in friction .After analysis the pads were found to have absorbed sulphides from such greases.â€

    Squeaky brakes??

keep oils greases and lubes away from the brakes as the two don’t go together happily. Brake pads must be kept clean and grease free, even the grease from your fingers can sweat into the pad surface and reduce the brake pad effectiveness.
  10. If there is anyone out there that needs any technical advice on pads or discs or goodridge lines please do not hesitate to ask us we will help where ever we can with over 30 years experience with EBC i hope we know a thing or to now lol

    Squeaky brakes??

Try and stay away from any grease near pad materials if they contaminate the material this will cause more problems....something like a anti squeal kit should suffice click here http://www.ebcbrakes.com/brake_noise/no ... d_in.shtml New disc pads take some time to bed down, even if you are using new or turned rotors and during this time when the pad is bedding in to match exactly the geometry of the rotor the pads can make noise. The normal way to minimise this is to add noise reduction shims onto the reverse side of the pads which dampens the vibration caused by the pad which will "Chatter" slightly when not seated perfectly. This noise would go away after 300-500 miles but to avoid irritation noise shims are used to reduce this sound. There is no safety issue when a pad makes these noises during bed in, it is merely a cosmetic problem of the new brakes. You can obtain these from www.brakes4u.co.uk you would need part number ASK1 Hope this helps
  12. Just some info for you chaps....... This post has been made to highlight the massive improvements in EBC product quality for the faster car driver over recent years since EBC took over their Bristol manufacturing plant. YES all EBC pads are made in the UK !!! Read these guidelines to make sure you get the right pads for your car. Greenstuff - Fast street for lighter cars - AF44/35 (Not Impreza or EVO etc)on box end (base code E 344) Street Legal to R 90 regulations. Greenstuff is designed for cars up to 200 bhp and weights up to around 2 tons. For smaller hot hatches this new Green material is very impressive and bites hard from cold. Redstuff fast street (not a race or trackday pad ) – . For all sizes and weights of car. Latest compound code shows AF88/26 on box end (base code E 388) and is street legal to ECE R90 regulations. This is the latest compound of the Red family for fast street use with reduced (and easy to wash off dust) but not really for track use Yellowstuff fast street and trackday - code AF93/94 on box end (base code DM 1793) Street legal to ECE R 90 regulations. Just starting to come through Surface Scorched now which means these bed in FAST.(EBC toast the surface in a special infra red tunnel to take away the bed in fade and loss of track time bedding in new pads for you) If you buy a set and it doesnt say PRE BEDDED on the box end label, take 300-400 miles steady highway driving then start to hit them harder for 15 – 20 stops from 60 to 10-15 mph until you get them really hot and then let them cool overnight. DONT track them out of the box unless the box end label says PRE BEDDED OK ????. This is your fast street and occasional trackday pad. For all sizes and weights of car. New Bluestuff NDX Fastest Street, trackday and full race any car - AF66/16SC on box end, SC stands for SCORCHED or pre bedded. NOTE THIS IS AN ENTIRELEY NEW COMPOUND AND NEEDS TO BE SPECIFIED BY ADDING NDX AFTER THE PAD NUMBER. Make sure you don’t get shipped the OLD Blue which was purely track driving and much harder. Impreza and EVO pads may be street legal to the new ECE R 90 brake safety regulations in NDX Bluestuff shortly, meanwhile this grade is "Officially" for track use only although its bite from cold is fantastic and makes it perfectly safe for street use (USA Canada and rest of the world just use them and enjoy, these European Regulations don’t affect you at all). It needs to be said that almost ZERO race pads being sold at the current time carry R 90 approval anyway so EBC is no different here .At least EBC have DONE the safety tests and passed them, waiting for long winded paperwork plus, read the next part. This pad also DOES NOT REQUIRE TYPICAL RACE PAD WARMUP because of the pre bedding feature making them great for street driving where vehicles have to come to a complete stop (rather than some race pads which are just designed to scrub off speed in cornering) and a good pedal response from cold in traffic is important. Bluestuff NDX material is however quite DUSTY. It is designed for the guy who wants the best in braking and is not worried about the frills. Bluestuff NDX was recently in a shootout on scoobynet and beat every other pad used hands down. You can read that thread here. http://bbs.scoobynet.com/wheels-tyres-a ... ost9503339 EBC has Time Attack cars and good drivers who have thrashed the New Bluestuff NDX around the Nurburgring and found it an amazing brake material and great value for money. Available for any quick car. Everything you need to know is right here http://www.brakes4u.co.uk/EBCBRAKES_BLUESTUFF_.asp This is a massive improvement in quality from the EBC factory and not to be ignored as the last remaining true independent British Brake Manufacturer.
  13. Hello Mate Yes i can....the turbo grooved are gold anodised and have the a set of 3 grooves(full sweep) and dimples where as the Ultimax are Black EP coating with more finer slots which cuts down on air noise compared the turbo grooved but both work as good as each other in terms of performance. I noticed the comment about EBC on this post maybe three years ago i may have agreed but they have come so far forward in terms of the quality of there product. The pad compounds have changed dramitcally...The main problem is customers dont know what material to use for the model or get the wrong advice or just to make a sale sell what they have.....this is where the major problems come from haveing a pad not designed for that vehicle or driving style see below for pad fitments this may help or if you need any more info drop us line at sales@brakes4u.co.uk or give us a call number on website..
