  1. I don't mind spiders - they get rid of the flies and horrible midges. I'd much rather give one another chance than kill it. That said, its probably more that I know there aren't any venomous ones in this country - it'd be a different kettle of fish if we had some of them from Oz or the US.

Mind, if I saw one the size of Chris' I don't know if I'd be so brave.

  2. Cheers guys, I'm touched!

I thought I was too old for Magaluf yep (thanks for that Digsy :p ) but it was awesome - had an absolute blast. I think going at the beginning of September was probably a really smart move as most of the kids had gone back to school! As for the too attached, I have a very understanding lady that was ok with me going and I was on my best behaviour all week - and that really is the truth.

Spent the days lazing by the pool and the nights getting completely and utterly wasted on Ruskinoff & Smirkoff (both quality tipples I'm sure you can tell). I feel great but I'm sure my liver & kidneys aren't thinking the same

  3. ...from me hols in Magaluf! And I'm very proud to say I'm still in 1 piece.

Just wanted to say a big hello to everyone again as I feel like I've not been around for about a year!!

I'm gonna try to sift through the 426 unread topics I've got but to save me a bit of time hello & welcome to all the newbies!!

    :D

  4. Mine was an ex demo - had 3777 miles on her when I bought her at just under 5 months old.

Absolutely no problem at all with her and no issues whatsoever that were related to being an ex demo.

I'm sure that Nissan build quality is more than a match for a few thousand miles of bad behaviour - this is a sports car after all. Besides which you've got the manufacturer warranty to fall back on.

I'd be very, very worried if a Z could be killed within a few thousand miles by a bit of spirited driving.

Also bear in mind that there is far less need to run an engine in these days (depending on who you believe/what you read there is an argument that there isn't any need).

    I didn't, haven't and wouldn't worry about it

  5. (3) They'd be in something newer than an S plate.

Incorrect. Mrs Sarnie reguarly drives cars that are more than 10 yrs old :)

Really? I always thought it was about 5-6yrs max, maybe that's just traffic then or maybe I'm totally wrong.

  6. Don't worry:

    (1) You can have different opinions on traffic police but one thing they without a doubt are is good drivers - no way would they be up your backside.

    (2) They would have pulled you there & then.

    (3) They'd be in something newer than an S plate.

  7. I just typed in Carnuba Wax in the search engine and found a Uk supplier. Delivered it should cost about £30 if I remember rightly.

I am towards the bottom of my second tub but i have done lots of cars as well as mine and Mrs Mings

    Good stuff though

    Ming the Converted

PS Its even better and quicker with my porter cable polisher!!

I'll check it out, thanks Ming

The 3rd step of the Megs is also a carnuba, nice stuff, but by the sounds of it your's is better and lasts longer!

  8. Got quite a few....but the funniest (well for me anyway) was when I was getting followed by a newish Punto on the A580 heading into Manchester.

It was wet and we were going round a big right hander, with a slip road coming down onto the main carriageway just as the road starts to straighten, felt the esp kick in a bit as the front end's line tighten ever so slightly (was very slight btw, no excessive speed involved) and I saw this flash of blue in my rearview mirror, yep the Punto was changing direction - BIG TIME! Looked back in the rearview when I'd straightened up thinking that the idiot was heading back up the slip road the wrong way only to see it hit the wall head on, he'd obviously lost it on the bend.

Was heading back an hour or so later and saw the Punto getting winched onto a recovery truck, all the airbags were out and it was a proper mess :scare:

Rang the Police when I got back to the office and was told all the occupants were completely ok. Then I could have a really good laugh about it

  9. I can remember setting off on a journey and being overjoyed THAT WE GOT THERE!!!!!

I learned sooooo much about cars from those days of simple mechanics and necessity!!

    +1

You've just reminded me Ming, the Flying Turd's head gasket was gone too (very shortly after I got it) and I always had to have the heater on hot - when it went cold I knew it was time to top up the water

  10. Top result mate. The clarity of reflection shows the attention to detail. I am well impressed.

When you get to these levels of cleanliness then what ever you use the results are subjective. Some polishes/waxes/finishes are better on one colour than they are on others though so some experimenting, asking around is always worth it.

Personally I use 'Sonus' products as they come highly recommended from a friend who is a detailer by trade and I use P21S as a finisher.

When you have waxed a car as opposed to polished it you will not use polishing/finishing agents again.

Its odd but the car FEELS nicer and as I said at this level its all about perceptions.

I did a friends Volvo over the weekend and the difference was truly amazing and he has not washed or cleaned his car in a couple of YEARS!!!

He actually said that it looked better and newer than when he bought it and that was with only one coat of everything!!

    Well done

    Ming the Impressed

PS I agree with H5 in that it does seem to make the 'flake' look like it is on the top and there for stand out a lot more!

Again, thanks for the kind comments mate

Although I'm very impressed with the Megs stuff, as I've said, I'm getting ready to move up to "better" stuff.

Think H5 and your good self have now sold me on this P21 stuff, any recommendations on where to get it?

  11. Dan if you get the 220 give me a shout, I'd love to come up and see you trying to get into & out of that

Had the pleasure of driving one on the track a few years back - what an absolutely awesome machine, so much balance & grip.
