  1. I was at Monza last weekend helping my mate (well just being there really and doing a bit of filming) he was racing in an Aston V8 Vantage N24 in the FIA GT4 series. We shared a garage with the guys from ProMotorsport who run a 350z.

The conditions were rain for the whole weekend, making it entertaining for the spectators and scary for the drivers.

The Z unfortunately had a huge problem - the pedal box was built too big meaning that the brakes could not be fully depressed.

Any way here are some pictures and a couple of short vids of the Z - sounds nice.

  2. No secrecy anymore Grant. Posted a thread here: http://www.350z-uk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10316&highlight=

Im def. coming to this, but will prb book a bit nearer the date. Want to see what the weather will be like tbh.

Even if you really get it wrong, there's nothing to hit at Bedford.

    Apart from another car....

    :lol::lol:

Sorry I forgot to mention - you might not hit anything but someone might hit you :scare:

No, It's really safe at Bedford, because it's so wide the chances of someone hitting you are quite slim.

Come rain or shine Bedford is superb, if it's wet you can practise your drifting. In fact if it's wet Bedford is a great place to find you and your cars limits in safety. Even if you really get it wrong, there's nothing to hit at Bedford.

  4. www.Easytrack.co.uk are doing Bedford Autodrome the full GT circuit on February 9th for £99. That is an absolute bargain, the circuit is 4.2 miles long, nothing to hit plenty of run off, very well suited to the Z and they are happy if you practice your drifting. I'm booked on it with a few friends also.

Are they ATDO affiliated/ certified? Are you doing this? If so, Id definitely be up for it. Got to learn to drive the new baby.

As I said I'm booked on it - noise is strict at Bedford - no problems with mine even with my Invidia dual Exhaust (and a slight blow!).

Bedford is kind to the Z, it's wide and there are lots of fast sweeping curves. There are a few nice hairpins as well. They are quite happy for you to practise a bit of sideways action :D .

Rish, what's with all the secrecy on the car?

  5. I went with my co-director to pick up his Gallardo Roadster this morning. We drove around London's West for a while before heading back to the City. We went through the Piccadilly underpass and he nailed it - what a sound!! Everybody and I mean EVERYBODY stares - mind you we did have the roof down and the colour is pretty loud.

  6. Yep, that was definately Grant. Heading westbound around lunch time IIRC - and that would have been him at Bridge House Xerox.

That's the one, my (former) work place - what took you to that delightful place??

Xerox is a potential trading partner - the security guy at the gate there always tells me how much he loves my car, so I get to park right out front!

  7. nice grant wow sucks for cannonball did they get their money back from the event?

No, and it cost him €2000 to get his car back.

On the first evening it was announced that the German Authorities had banned the rally and that the participants would be advised to remove all the Cannonball stickers. Like they only just found that out ;)

  8. Chris B did the Cannonball 8000 two years ago and he said whilst it was fun as an event it was not worth the money. Also, like this year, the German authorities banned the event and effectively blocked all vehicle movement. My Co-Director did the 8000 this year and had his car impounded in Germany, returning home with many others on the first day (Friday). I was on my way back from a European road trip and saw one of the Cannonballers returning home on the Friday night through the Eurotunnel.

These type of events, whilst fun are going to get clamped down on.

Briefly; my trip involved two nights and a day at Nurburgring, the Porsche Museum Stuttgart, skimmed the Alps - through Austria, track day on Most Circuit Czech Republic- back through Germany, evening in Bruges, home via Eurotunnel. Went out on Sunday PM came back Friday Night, under a grand each. No silly stickers - high speed all the way - Just over 2,000 miles.

If anybody is interested we're doing one next year probably around May time. One of the stop offs will be Most Circuit, http://www.autodrom-most.cz/ where we'll be doing a track day and staying in a castle overnight. Here's a link to the castle

I'll see if I can post some more pics shortly. Here's some of the circuit - and my tyres after a few laps. It's a very fast circuit.

  9. Sharon Stone drove one in Basic Instinct 2 - smashed it up IIRC. I first saw the car being driven around the circuit at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix in 2001.

  10. with 285, you will rub on the rear depending on the tyre. Ul have to either roll your fenders or get them trimmed. . .

    Jamie

    I ran 285's with no problems....... :)

me too on 11's and lowered appx 15mm

Also second BigPhil on the KW - definately want to get the rebound on the standard Z sorted out, which the KW does nicely. It is a firmer ride than standard but no way is it unbearable. Even running 20's and Stillen sway bars it's driveable. The KW's are set on the factory set up and the medium setting on the sway bars.

  11. bit unfair as curcuit is Folembray in France. Pretty good in the dry but difficult to get power down in the wet.

Grant see you are doing the big circuits now, how does the car do against others.

I still thing it would be too heavy, but I probably did not have the skills to use the brakes as little as poss.

Z is too heavy in general and a bit underpowered for the big circuits. Saying that it is still a great car on the track - immensely enjoyable.

  12. Its just a "Caterham" Roadsport A but with R400 engine.

Does the job, but there are far far quicker drivers than me (and 6 stone lighter) however it always make me smile when driving it.

PS yellow / black very common, and all the black bits are actually Carbon but just extremely dirty as always.

    PSS

Extra points if you can guess the track, big hint in the picture as not many have a occupied house smack bang in the middle of the track.
