  1. When I had my punctured tyre replaced at Kwik Fit I stood and watched the whole process and made it very clear that a Ray would cost £1,000 to replace through Nissan. The fitter was superb, she said if she damages the wheel she pay for it. No damage was caused but she really had difficulty doing the job and I suspect that if I wasn't so fastidious and oversaw their work they probably would have been damaged.

My advice to anybody replacing tyres is to go to a centre that is used to dealing with expensive wheels.

  2. I think £1,000 is nearer the mark.

I've seen standard 18's sell on eBay for £500+, and as stated the tyres would easily be worth £400 on their own regardless of anybody's opinion as to wether they're any good.

If Seedy can sell his standard wheels for £500 then £500 for the Rays is obviously underpriced.

  3. I sent out the form, for the 10 free tickets mate. Thread should be under meets and the in the subforum called....... TRACKDAYS ;)

Won't be able to be there myself unfortunately as I'll be to the Italian Z national Meet in Umbria B)B)B)

I see that there are only three takers for the 10 FREE tickets  . Free stuff obviously doesn't rule :surrender:

Come on guys, surely there must be more interest than the three of us.

  4. No "flame" taken space cadet, I should do my sig and list mods. I didn't really feel any noticeable performance gains with the lines or pads. On the first dry track day I did the fluid boiled after about 10 minutes and I had no brakes. That was on the standard factory setup.

At the same time I did the Fluid and lines I put Red stuff pads on the front and Yellow stuff on the rear. This set up is better but I still feel a certain amount of softness after about 10 minutes.

Laguna Seca; The only difference between the DBA5000 and 4000 Series is that the 5000 is a two piece with seperate rotor. This is supposed to provide improved and even cooling, reducing the chance of warping and cracking.

Although the initial cost is higher there is a major cost saving over time because you only have to change the rotor and not the whole disc. Replacement 5000 series Rotors are £140 each as opposed to £190 for a 4000 series disc. Almost saving you the increased purchase price after your first disc/rotor change. There are other benefits to them being seperate such as a lightweight hat reducing unsprung weight, the ability to swap between a road disc and track disc, i.e. Slotted Vs. Cross Drilled.

Not sure of the exact science but according to DBA Cross Drilled are not suitable for track driving, maybe it's just their discs but I can't recall any motor sports cars with cross drilled. Also I've been studying discs on high performance cars and I've seen fractures on cross drilled discs (I saw a Mercedes SL55AMG that was really bad!!).

Unfortunately the 5000 series weren't in stock so I had to have the 4000 series.

I'm getting them from http://www.wallaceperformance.com I'll let you know what I think when they're bedded in.

  5. Good choice, the DS2500's are very good pads, the ones to use on heavy’ish M3's & Subarus etc, have used them in the past.

Not sure about the DBA4000s, my personal opinion would be to put some better quality discs on from Brembo, AP or Tarrox. The Z is a heavy car and the Brembo callipers are heavy duty and with some and hard pads like the Ferrodo will need some equally good quality discs, unfortunately that will cost a few quid.

While you are changing the discs and pads, do the brake lines and fluid – see the other thread.

RJN are having the standard discs from JP grooved, I would personally use these rather than the 4000s, although personally I would bite the bullet and put some top quality discs on instead.

I already have Nismo Lines and Motul RBF600. The DBA discs are a higher spec than the OEM Brembo ones and have better cooling properties, they are also a higher spec than the Brembo Sport discs, which are now only available in drilled (not ideal for track days).

I have bitten the bullet, the DBA are also a lot more expensive than the Brembo Sport discs. Front DBA4000 and Ferodo 2500's £427. Brembo sport discs and pads £315. AFAIK AP don't sell OEM size discs for the Z, Tarox don't have a fitment for the Z.

  6. Grant,

I went for Nismo pads which seem goot, but now are noisy.

If the disk is hosed and you happy with OEM but want cheap, try RJN as thats where I got mine at about 50% of Nissan price. 2nd hand but hardly used as they were from the JP ones for the Bedford z's

Cheers Steve. I spoke with Bob and he offered me a good price on a pair of the Palmer sport cars OEM discs which were taken off when they did the Brembo GT kit and are delivery miles only.

I've actually gone for the DBA4000 with Ferodo DS2500 pads. I'll let you know how they perform.

  7. I added mine to my insurance with LiverpoolVictoria.co.uk cost about £100 for personal cover in any car, 180 days in Europe, and it covers our horse box trailer.

There is a massive variation in what's covered on these insurance policies, so be sure to check what is and isn't covered to suit your needs.

  8. I've succumbed to a 700 - delivery tomorrow. :p

It cost £325 plus carriage. :D

I'll let you know how it goes....

Good choice, great piece of kit. I've started to add in the POI co-ordinates for Nissan Dealers, I've just done the ones around London & Essex, got about 20 on there so far. Let me know if this is of interest and I'll forward you the file.

  9. Tom Tom beats all the built in systems for functionality. You can get a hard wire kit and I'm pretty sure you can integrate it with the bose for stereo mute. Mine integrates with my Bluetooth on my phone perfectly and I can take it out for the wife to use when she needs it.

  10. I dont like touchscreens (nor ones that require you to poke with a plastic stick).

    Just my personal preference!

    JK

I've got the 700 and never use the remote. The screen has more functionality and if you don't like touch screens then you're pretty much knackered as most Sat Navs (third party ones) require you to input using the touch screen.

  11. Yeah, the 350Z key is pants. My 300zx had a solid Titanium key engraved with 300zx, it looked the nuts EXCEPT...when I collected the car from the dealer they had lost the key. So I never actually got one

  12. Tuscan, you're coming from a TVR B) These cars are are bullit proof in comparison. Nothing major to report, even minor niggles are well documented and generally there are TSB to resolve these issues. No problems to note in mine after 18k. I have a Kuro GT Roadster with Alezan interior. It has a few styling mods.

  13. Hi Andy, I was following a silver cougar tonight and I was quite admiring its looks. I have always thought that they are a great looking but sadly overlooked car. Yours look great, not chav, just about right.

You can't have those RSV one piece wheels on a 350z, they don't fit ;) , shame really because I think they look reasonable. You'll have to get something else  .
