  1. Thanks for reply. Doing it in the dark was definitely where I was going wrong. I totally missed the hole and when i pulled it back out it was totally dry so i knew something wasnt right.Used the fingers to guild it in in the end. Got a bit of a mess on my fingers but these things happen.

Absolute filth! You are working on the car, aren't you?

  2. the fixed spoiler is only on this version - all others have the spoiler recessed which then raises at speeds in excess of 74mph

Prefer the fixed to be honest. The mini spoiler which pops (which I'm sure is purposeful) looks horrible for me.

  3.

At last they've taken note to put a spoiler on the F, rather than some cut down tray that's supposed to look like a spoiler!

Sounds nice to me, agressive, but not quite dirty....

  4. Not been there but have been to one at Prestwold airfield, run by Everyman Racing.

If you have Tesco Clubcard vouchers, it's worth a look as you can redeem 3x your voucher amount to spend with Everyman - so i drove a GTR and a Gallardo for about £45 in vouchers, although this was about 5 years ago.

As for the day itself - it was alright, not amazing. 4 laps in each car over a basic circuit, it was over before it started really.

    What's your next project car?

Fair cop, also done a few before myself, although haven't been to Bovingdon and always best to get some insight as to expectations. Went to a track years ago (well I call it a slither of tarmac) was great driving the cars all of 100 yards in the rain and to be told to "take it easy", Therefore from one bad experience I'm one step ahead of a "bad day".

Well, next project is going to be a big one..... either a Ultima GTR or Ultima Evolution.... although I'm wanting to build this myself (with I'm sure a heap of assistance) and so this won't go ahead until....

    1) I'm bored with the Zed

    2) Move house! (current residence does not have a garage or anywhere to work on cars)

The Bovingdon track has the Ultima Evolution and there's no harm in having a spin, to see if it suits my preferences. I've heard it's mega loud in the cabin - but totally awesome and loved these things for about the last 5 years!

  5. Feel like treating myself to a driving experience day for my birthday.

Anyone been to Bovingdon Airfield (Hertfordshire) providing any feedback of their day.... worth it, organised well, issues?

I'm super tempted as they have my next project car as part of their line up, no harm 'testing' a project car before you buy.....

  6. What about in the 1990's 2JZ TT, they were stock c 300+ horse and that was nearly 30 years ago. With today's tech and development I'd have expected a little more. But then I do understand the need for today's red tape in relation to emissions and reliability.

  7. RX8 front wing and as Hugh pointed out, too much crossfire going on.

Sorry each angle = bag of sh!te....

I think Nissan are trying to make the Z range ugly as they move forward. 3.0 v6 bi turbo and only 400 horses, tame, chuck the economy out the window and make it fun!!

I'll stick with my 350 thanks.... still the best looker of the family.

    IYO

Correct, I wouldn't be voicing anyone else's opinion.

  9. Ahhhh it was Abbey who set the initiation point, then I got bored and moved it 3k. Straight back at ya Mr K :p

*dont read Keysers dyno plot and think you'll be getting 150lbft Torque, he's kinda excluded the fact of running a fully built engine and a SC. (With added meth!)

  10. The same question comes with "how much fuel does a Zed use". It's all relative to your right foot.

    Conditions to consider:

    Jet size

Initiation point in the rev range

Progressive value of NOS being fired once initiated

Throttle position initiation point (in my case 75%)

If I recall my RPM initiation point was 4K progressive to 6.5k. Unless you are continuously in this rev range, or less than 75% throttle you're not firing.

Let me example a rough gauge of heavy usage. 3 laps of the Nurburgring used 1 10lb bottle.

General town usage a bottle would last me a month. I may have used more NOS in that one month IF my local filling station was round the corner. As this wasn't the case I used to only use NOS for when it was really needed.

Consumption is therefore relative to your right foot. Increase the jet size and you're squirting more NOS. Take your car to a 1/4 strip you're going to need more regular refills.

  11. Been £5 per pound for more than 10 years , its cheaper if you rent a big bottle and decant at home but used to cost me £3.60 per pound when I did that back in 2005

I used to get mine from a drag car company as above, was never charged £5 per lb that's for sure.
