  1. Ok, maybe I was a tad harsh on the hatchback comment but the way I see it is; a sports car should be 'special', something you don't see all the time, something that makes an occasion out of every journey and is quirky in some way. Most achieve this through a 2 seat, 2 door format with un-compromising engine that is there for the fun and enjoyment of driving.

An M240i is essentially a 1 series with a boot, I must have seen over 50 1 & 2 series on my 20 mile drive home just now. The public couldn't pick out a M240i from a 216d M Sport. How many people turn to look as a M240i goes past? I would bet it as a small fraction of the number that watch a 370Z go past. Can you compare the 2 cars on paper? Yes you can, but that isn't why you buy a sports car.

  2. I've had my 370 for just 2 weeks but already wishing it had an auto-dipping rear view mirror. My Alfa has one and it makes night time driving much more pleasant.

    Has anyone retro-fitted one before?

It looks like you can buy them for other Nissans (eg Nivara) and they have the same screen mount - so would just need connecting up. Is it that simple?

  3. There seems to be some confusing figures in this topic.

New car - 23k 'cost', then pay 11,192 (monthlies + deposit) over 3 years. If you trade in/hand back after 3 years you have paid 11,192. If you sold it privately, I think it would probably be worth 17k, pay off the GFV of 13,800 and you are left with 3,200. Car has cost you £7992 over 3 years.

Used car - pay 15k now, worth 8k in 3 years, which is 7k. If you put some of that on finance there will be a cost for the interest. Also factor in warranty/additional maintenance against a brand new car.

To me, the current deals make buying a new one a no brainer.

Oh you mean in that weird American year thing. I'd forgotten that they'd even bothered with another facelift this late on tbh, sorry.

It is an automotive term, just that the Americans take it too literally. I use the MY terms everyday, but I work in automotive industry though.

  5. You have to remember leather is a natural product so the quality will always vary. There will be checks and processes in place at all steps throughout the manufacturing process (leather supplier, sewing shop, seat assembler and Nissan), but some defects will always get through. It can happen on a 10K Dacia or a 200K Bentley, but the dealer/OEM should sort it with no hassle.

  6. It looks like there isn't one of these for the the 370Z yet - so list your cheap mods here

Rules are simple - a cheap mod is something you can do for under £150. It could be spacers, lights, badges etc.

Post them up, with pictures and prices - simple as that!

Lets see what you have got

Nissan UK confirmed today that Caster Angle is outside tolerance.
Their technical department will advise my local HPC on how to adjust the Caster Angle.
Hopefully HPC will contact me in the next few days to arrange to undertake the necessary adjustments.

'How to' - bigger hammer?

  8. So I have a manual GT on order and should be arriving in March, but I have been chatting to someone who suggested I should get a drive in a GT model as I have only driven the Nismo version.

Has anyone driven or owned both a Nismo and a GT/Base of the facelift models? How do they compare?
