Who are you, and what have you done with ilogikal??? That was waaaaay too nice a reply!

Leave it to me, I'll be the one to say it bluntly.

So basically the OP is annoyed that the software didn't take into account someone running not only a massively incorrect, but frankly dangerous wheel setup and is now mad that the system did not behave the way it was intended, because again, it was being fed massively incorrect information from the dangerously fitted wheel set up (that the op fitted, not the tuners).

OP doesn't like being picked up on this, so is now getting knocky. FYI, MOTs are the barest minimum road standard, so the fact it past an MOT does not mean it's safe. Huge difference, just like your missing matched wheels

  2. I'm 99% you won't be able to just swap them over no, they are subtly different in there shape so they won't fit.

You can extend the wiring, that's pretty easy and straightforward on the 350z rear bumper. Wouldn't you be better off just buying a set from a German 350z? That way you know the foglights on the right side and they'll fit?

Cracking car in good hands, always a good read 👍 makes me feel bad for putting 6000 miles on mine since August and still using her as a daily lol

Flip side is least you're using yours... mines not been driven since mid November, only started and left to run once a week. Upside is she's not gotten covered in road salt etc but ti's an expensive garage ornament..

  4. As others have said, it's timing chain on these so as long as you have no rattles on start up r running you're good to leave that.

Depends on how mad you want to go. Me personally I'd probably be thinking about plugs again if it's been two years, but I like over kill on servicing.

Coolant, gearbox, differential oil and clutch fluid is also another that regularly gets forgotten

  5. Always a tad annoyed you're probably at the opposite end of the country as I'd happily pay to get you to give my Nismo the once over as your attention to detail genuinely makes me happy. And getting them both together would be a great photo opportunity

Out of interest can I ask what you paid for the mats and where from? It's right of passage for me with a new car to get new mats but the only source I could find was torqen, mega money and didn't look the same as mine but yours are

  6. Whats the car? What year? Your forum name would suggest 350z, yet you mention 370z?

You need to be sure whether you have halogen or HID bulbs before you commit to a purchase. I'd suggest that unless you have a basic Japanese import 350z, chances are you have factory HIDs, so halogen is off the cards.

Most factory supplied HIDs are around 4300 kelvin (light output - 1 kelvin is equivalent to 1 candle, so 4300 Kelvin = 4300 candles). I Would suggest looking at newer, brighter HID bulbs like bosch, Phillips etc and choosing between 5-6000 kelvin. Light output begins to drop the higher you go, so these adds claiming 8K HIDs are completely useless and you'd actually have worse output. Not to mention the colour spectrum will change the brighter you go, with 5-6K being the brightest, whitest light with a tinge of blue.

But there's other factors as well, are your headlamps beginning to oxidise and discolour? That would reduce light output.

Lastly, LED headlamps are not illegal in the UK. Retrofitting them IS due the preexisting headlamps not being able to properly spread the beam pattern and dazzling on coming vehicles. Many manufacturers, mine, Honda for example have LEDs on the top spec models and they are BRIGHT. Again depending on what your vehicle is, morimoto can supply you with upgraded LED headlamps that are legal RHD and would be perfectly legal in the UK. But that'll cost you £1300 quid.

I can happily go on as I love lighting (I've upgraded my Nismo and love it) but more information required please 🙏

Have you had an remap mate? If so did the eml light stop coming on afterwards?

An uprev remap will stop the EML light coming on as they switch off the rear O2 sensors as part of it. The rears only monitor post catalytic performance so aren't necessary

  8. Unless he's planning on getting the car remapped to get the best gains from the setup I personally really wouldn't bother with HFC's and just enjoy the sound without having a headache every year for MOT.

Unpopular opinion I know, but when I ran torqen HFCs mated to a Injen SES exhaust I had no ends of issues which really spoilt the car for a considerable time. Having said that, if you truthfully want an answer then I would always marry the two systems together, so my vote goes for invidia

  9. Merry Christmas boys and girl's!

Small update, the lovely other half treated me to a set of GTR crystal clear map lights for the Nismo. As you'll see from the photo there's a marked difference between the two.

Here side by side for comparison. On the right, the GTR map light, and on the left the opaque white standard 370z map light. Again super shocked at what a small addition can make such a big change to the interior of the car. Light output is now super crisp and bright. Much like the GTR stop / start button.

Other then that I've barely driven the car, with one show back in August

And there I took a good friend's lad to his first prom. really hoping I'll get out more this year, and more mods!

The price has increased by £200 from £599...Ill probably do the mod sometime next year back and front lights. They look awesome. Just expensive.

I'm not overly keen on a smocked design just simply down to personal preference. I like the blacked out front headlights the Nismo comes standard with so that's not an issue. But for me I like nice clear OEM colours. Until someone produces an aftermarket light that isnt smoked I won't be changing dude

I think you should consider the oem nismo arch liners although its equivalent to having go faster stickers.

What you think of the new Morimoto rear lights?

Drop me a WhatsApp when you pick the new one up mate, would definitely be up for a meet up weather allowing in the spring! Glad to hear you're getting back in a Z again.

Funny you should mention the morimoto rear lights, I've actually been chatting to them and have said if they make a newer OEM+ style then I'll have a set. I'm just not keen on the current clear funky style

How does it compare to your old 350Z? Appreciate that’s a big question.

You're right, that's a big question. Remember that the 350z was a GT, and this is a Nismo. They are similar in places, and as willsy says night and day different in others. They're both pretty raw, especially around town. I actually prefer driving the girlfriends Audi A3 around town and it gives me an excuse not to indicate 🤣

But get the Nismo on a twisty B Road, a motorway and that's where you really see the difference come out. Cruising, it's probably the most comfy car I've owned. It's power, presence and road holding make you smile ear to ear. I've lost count the amount of photos taken as people pass because you just don't see Nismo's.

Oddly, as nice as the recaros are, I miss electric heated seats. I've never owned a car where the slightest change to my seating position screws me over a treat, taking weeks to find that sweet spot again. Any time it goes somewhere, I tell them explicitly do not move the seat. Interior is definitely a step up, however it baffles me how such a new car does not come with better infotainment, like DAB radio. Again, another point for the Mrs A3.

Power delivery is silky smooth in the nismo. You can town drive without it getting rowdy, and know when you want the power you need to hold on. It's connection through the steering feels light and agile, yet enough feedback to know its not all computer assisted. The gearbox is like cocking a rifle, with every change gliding in. The rev match feature is a cool touch, making those down shifts sound all the more cooler.

I could ramble all day, so I'll summarise here. Do I think its better then a 350z as its also a properly "Jap" car? Yes. Do I think there are newer, better cars available for the same price, 25K? Also yes. But its charm for me is that its a "New Car, based on an old car". You have enough quality, toys, features and driving style to know you have a new car, but it feels old enough that you can be connected with what it's doing, without warning sensors beeping for beeping sake.

I miss my 350z for sure. But would I want to go back? No chance

  12. An easier, cheaper and more grounded test would be to swap the bulbs round and see if the fault moves from one side to the other.

If it does, you know its the bulb failing. If it doesn't, you know the issue is somewhere on that headlight

It will all come out in the wash as the saying

    Goes.  Good luck bud

Thats the issue, how long will this wash take!

What I was getting at is in simple terms is that the OP is now royally stuck in the middle, between his insurance company and the garages liability.

The insurance company will say the garage is responsible as the car was handed over to their care, the garage will say its the insurance companies responsibility as they chose to send it to them, a whole street away from where it was recovered.

Using my own garage where I work as an example, there's been a serious breakdown somewhere, and that's what is fishy. Personally I feel the garage are entirely to blame. We have coded key cupboards, retinal scanners, 18 foot high fenced compounds, CCTV covering every square inch to name a few security measures. But then we're a multimillion pound Dealership Vs Big Ken's auto repair shop on the corner.

I feel for the OP, we're about to find out how good his insurance company is.

Ok I have an update for anybody still interested :D.

The car was assessed by a local garage and the insurance company declared it a total loss. The next step was for an independent valuation company to come in and value the car and then for nissan to read the ECU for any signs of how it was stolen.

However! I received a call from the garage the following day asking if I had collected the car as it was no longer on their site...

I hadn't obviously so phoned the valuation agent to ask if he collected it, he said no, we just assess it where it is, we don't collect it.

So I phone the insurance company and asked what was going on, they couldn't figure it out either.

Fast forward to today and the insurance company have told me they have reported it to the police as stolen again!

It is fairly clear that somebody wants the car pretty badly! Lol.

You couldn't make this up! What a joke!

So hopefully now will just be able to proceed with the claim now and get the money...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but i feel this is about to get extremely messy for you. Technically speaking from my understanding, the garage the vehicle was recovered to are now also liable for the car.

As it was stolen from their premises and I'd assume private property, there will be serious questions asked by the insurance company. All sounds extremely fishy
