  2. Hey Boys and Girls, Hope everyone has had a good Christmas so far!

I swear my Z is one of the most temperamental cars on the planet! As some will know I had issues last month with the Clutch slave cylinder which decided to give up, luckily saved by Chris @ Tarmac Sportz. I don't think the two are linked but it is odd how the two have coincided. Its possible its been caused by the car sitting for a nearly a month?

So basically I've had the car back on the road just over a week now, and everything seemed great. I took it for a run the day I got it back as the disks were looking a bit crusty on the surfaces but nothing a few normal braking stops would sort. But the last couple of days I've noticed what I can only assume is a warped disk. It happens at low speeds when the pedal is applied lightly, doesn't happen under harder braking from speed. You can easily hear a grinding "Donk" Donk" from inside the cabin and outside, and more importantly you can actually feel a "kickback" through the pedal. It feels like the pedal is fighting back. Braking isn't affected at all it just does not feel right for obvious reasons. The brakes themselves are MTEC drilled and grooved with HELL braided lines

Another thing to note is that at slow speeds (less than 10MPH, turning speed basically), I get an audible "Donk" Donk" which is rhythmic (gets quicker or slower) but ONLY when turning left... Id thought this was driveshaft click but its bloody loud for that

    So to summarise

Happens at low speeds, with light pedal pressure. Hard braking is fine until you slow down

Easily hear and feel a "Donk" Donk" metally sound, and feel through the pedal

Brakes are newish, less than a year old and done less than 10K miles

    Any ideas guys?

  3. So the update to this is that the clutch slave cylinder had completely shat its pants :| For whatever reason it went in semi working and came put with a new one. Thats why it wouldn't bleed.

Interestingly enough though, it does feel much much better. No where near as jerky with this deadzone alot of Z owners report. Always found the clutch was either on or off and this has cured it, I'd imagine the braided line helps too

Rather then start another topic, how have people adjusted there clutch pedals though? The biting point is very high causing some over revving on my part. Which way do I turn the rod to lower it slightly?

  4. I cant say for definite as I dont understand car sound systems enough (this is actually my first car with a sub.. lol) but I'd like to say so

Mine used to make a loud pop everytime the sub would cut out, but replacing the AMP was an educated guess that could've backfired. Forgive me for saying but if your AMP has been fiddled with already, its more then likly a recurring issue. Id replace the AMP

  5. Almost 99% sure its the amp. Had a similar issue where the sub wluld cut in and out, sometimes if left it would return sometimes a good thump would get it to return. Not that I understand its something to do with the relay inside the amp

Bought a second hand amp of Bob Ellis and its cured the issue and works a treat

  6. Would definitely say the aboves true and ive noticed it, used to get hounded left right and center in the old Honda. People tend to leave me alone in the majority of the time which suits me fine

Wish Id have more pleasant experiences with the police though. When I first got the car i was pulled over religiously. One copper even said to me "how does a lad like you afford a car like this?'

Considering id done about a years worth of night shifts, made me feel pretty crappy. His face when he found out it wasnt stolen or loaned etc with modifications declared was priceless though. Congratulations you played yourself

  8. Never in all my years did I think I'd bump into another RC tanker!

I used to be well into this with a 1/8th scale panther, and a 1/6th scale panther. Did you get this from Mark 1 tanks? I used to know those guys well and be a part of the UK tank club. Still have my Tamiya king tiger stored safely away

  9. Have to admit I really dont like country roads, especially at night time due to the Zs poor visibility. Theres all of petworth and surrounding areas around me that I use regularly heading up to camberly and I hate it. Tight, narrow and blind bends to boot combined with people wanting to fly round them.

Had a couple "races" in the Z, funniest was with a fiat punto with cherrybomb exhaust. Before it broke again I had a play with an R35 on my home on the duel carriageway. Both of us just sat there doing various pulls making as much noise as possible, certainly got alot of looks while grinning like a Cheshire cat

  10. I was servicing mine at the time and removed the Airbox completely all the way back to the throttle body so I could access that bank kf coilpacks. Near the throttle body there is a little tube that connects underneath to the airbox tube, that was simply kinked

Sadly it was one of those too simple too see scenarios so it ended up costing me £65 just to be plugged in to the diagnostic scanner and out the door 20 minutes later. Thankfully the garage took pitty and just charged me for the scanning and not any time lol

  11. i never park next to SUVs or MPVs. Had so many experiences with kids flinging the back doors open like a garden gate, which then hit my car. When voicing my annoyance, i am then looked upon as if i were Hitler incarnate. I mean, how dare i get slightly miffed at the careless actions of young teenagers that is going to cost me money.

I could almost cry at this comment. Finally im not alone in thinking like this. How dare I get angry for your inconsiderate child costing me money! And worse still you not having the decency to correct them!

Im afraid the majority around here are of that ilk... where a whacking great SUV is needed for the school run when its rained slightly...

  12. Have to admit I had this a few weeks back. Admittedly I had parked in one of the child bays bht there's at least 50 of them. Was a woman with a ruddy great land rover in the next bay and a horde of unruly children. Dont get me wrong Im grateful to not have children yet but do have views on how I'd raise my own

As I came to a stop and switched the car off she walks around the front of the Z and smacks the bonnet and says "wheres your ****ing badge". Looking back I dont think I've ever gotten out a car so quickly with both barrels loaded. I tried explaining that I was tired with people damaging my vehicle's which I work hard for, to which I got told I was a selfish ****er for having a nice car.

My reply and final word as I walked away was "why do you need a land rover. Are those estate speed bumps really that big"

(Where I live is pretty densely built up, not much country etc)

    No doubt someone will judge!

  13. Can't remember if you have come to one of the south east meets I've arranged or not ?.Where are you based in Sussex?.

I havent no pal. Was meant to come to your grasshopper meet but the night before I witnessed a rather horrific car accident that then spiraled further out of control. To cut a long story short I witnessed an audi doing 65mph + in a 30 before rolling several times. Was 3:15am before I got in so wasnt feeling the early start

    Located in Littlehampton Pal

  14. My tech initially had the same symptoms, until we religiously stuck to the workshop manual process

We followed that religiously guys. Even down to setting up a timer to count the 5 seconds accurately. Had no luck and if anything made things worse

Any update on this Olly? Was considering changing my clutch line to braided, but having second thoughts now after reading your thread lol

Id definitely recommend changing it Pal, had them on my last cars and they give a much nicer feel, same for brakes, but would I recommend that you do it? No chance. It seems that bleeding these is an absolute ballache, save yourself the hassle like I should've done and just get a garage to do it :surrender: Mine will be going down tomorrow at the expense of a trailer too

  15. So as those who've got me on facebook have seen I've been progressing slowly with all the small details that id like on my Z

I managed to get a tan leather interior which has transformed being inside the car for me, absolutely love it :p

I then managed to get a JDM indicator without the foglight, cant say how much the red square used to bug me!

I then purchased a set of Hamish's LED rear numberplate clusters. These have made a great difference to the back!

    Before with just bulbs

    After with his complete units

And then just a couple pictures after a wash. Its currently broken again as we couldnt get the clutch to bleed. Down the shop tomorrow!

  16. Am 24 (3 weeks off 25) with mods declared, 8k milage, commuting to and from work and kept on the driveway with possibility of being locked away in a garage. 5 years licence with 5 years NCB, and I paid £550 which I was ok with (it is my first RWD and ive only owned it just over a year so I let it slide this time)

Somethings wrong with the price you're paying?
