  1. If I get a ballasts, igniters and wiring from an 06, then d2s bulbs and the headlights linked above, I'm good for a full HID 06+ setup, right?

The ballasts and igniters are the same on all models, you don't need face-lift specifically..

Its a lot more complex fitting to halogens, you have a 6pin wiring loom on your car compared to an 8pin plug in HID headlights. Have a read of:

    http://my350z.com/fo...ml#post10579372

He details which wire needs to go where if you want to do the conversion.

I've seen that. Can I not just buy the 8 pin harness though and be done with it? Please enlighten me if that's a dumbass question. Thanks.

  2. @OP, don't take any risks with your brakes, buy all new identical fluid. I have every reason to believe those two bottles should be the same. Would I risk it? No way, when it's only a few quid a bottle.

  3. I've always just used halfords dot 5 race fluid? dunno if that helps you though lol

I hope that's a typo... DOT 5 is silicone based and not for our cars at all!!! Surely you mean DOT 4 or 5.1?

If you used DOT 5, and the entire brake system wasn't brand new (brand new lines, brand new cylinder, brand new calipers, etc, ANYWHERE the fluid went), then you have contaminated your DOT 5 with glycol from the previous DOT 3, 4 or 5.1 that was no doubt used before. DOT 5 will also damage your brake cylinder as it does not lubricate (cylinders designed for DOT 5 have their own lube), but more than that, silicone based fluid is not recommended at all for cars with ABS, though I don't know why.

If it wasn't a typo and you really do have DOT 5 in your car, you're going to need to change or at least thoroughly flush every single part that brake fluid has gone through.

  4. If you haven't bent a steering arm too, I'll be astonished. but don't worry, I picked one up for 15 quid off Jon @ Emperor for mine, or Zmanalex will have one too I expect.

Sounds like you were lucky to see the brake lines, hope you have a word with whoever fitted them? (If it was you, sorry mate, maybe punch yourself in the face a bit? lol). I've read a few articles on brake line installation on the Z lately, and most instructions seem to recommend an extra bracket, probably for this reason. I'm sure you know more about it than I do, just thought I'd mention it. :)

Get it on a flatbed mainly since you can't know all of what's happened underneath the car until you lift it, you may end up doing more damage.

  5. I really fancy an integrale one day. The only direct competition for the GTiR really in terms of rally-bred hatches.

But I'd sell my soul for a Renaultsport Clio v6. They are quite expensive nowadays, but they are the ultimate hatch, there is nothing that even gets close to the craziness of a short wheelbase, mid engine, rear wheel drive 3 LITRE clio. I've never driven one, but owning one is on my bucket list.

  6. Yeh, it's a good price, I've been looking at this conversion for mine. In fact, while I've got some of you headlight guys on the line...

I have an 03 US base model, no HID (though someone added aftermarket). If I get a ballasts, igniters and wiring from an 06, then d2s bulbs and the headlights linked above, I'm good for a full HID 06+ setup, right?

  7. I have summarised the post at the top to what the issue was

Sorry thought I was helping keep the forum clean removing it

Top man, I sometimes wish I was still in coventry....

    ....but not very often!! :p

j/k, I do miss the old place, I'll be back at the end of December and for new years, for the first time in many years, celebrating my eldest's 5th birthday at my mum's place in Leamington. I won't be bringing the Z though, sadly. It's not ready, but even if it was, I still would have trouble fitting it in that little square cage they say your carry on has to fit in, cos there's no way I'm checking in my Z! Have you seen how they handle suitcases?

  8. I've driven a lot of hatchbacks, a lot of fast ones. The one I miss the most? My Mini Cooper S with a grand in bolt ons (200hp). There were two things about that car better than any other hatchback I'd driven, three if you throw in the bonus of 'very responsive to cheap mods'. Those are: Fastest steering ever. It;s like using a 12 inch wheel even though it's not a 12 inch wheel. It still turns the requisite 2.5 turns, but just feels faster than almost any other car I've driven, it's weird and you'll only really notice it when you first drive it, then you'll get used to it. It turns in like a monster. The second is the chuckability, the size is literally perfect for the handling capabilities and power on offer, and it's a twitchy little beast, lift off oversteer is almost as fun as drifting. ;)

Just an idea, I enjoyed it more than my EP3 Type R and it was quicker too. Make sure you get an early model with supercharger, turbo ruined it, plus its a fat pig the facelift, visibly larger. But it's still a car you buy with heart not brain, expensive little bugger in just about every way. Make sure the transfer gears for the water pump in the supercharger (yes, the water pump transfer is in the supercharger, no kidding, stupidest design EVAR!) and the steering pump have been changed (both have a service life of 100k miles max), apart from that, standard stuff when buying.

  9. Hm...he has made no progress and was apparently avoiding you. I'd say if you are not over the moon with whatever he has to say, to go and get your car back.

Once the original post is removed, there is no point locking, the thread will be removed as it's completely meaningless. Poor form to do that by the way, not having a dig, just saying (as a very experienced moderator of other forums) that to edit your content to the point of simply leaving a hole in the forum with a meaningless topic is a bit of a no-no, like posting without searching, etc. ;) Like I say, no misunderstanding mate, just letting you know in as un-condescending a way as is possible using only text. :)

  10. Not as good as stock, simple as that. It's a fine replacement, will do the job, but stock fans flow more and stock radiator radiates heat more efficiently.

That's not to say that someone replacing a 50000 mile radiator won't see an increase in cooling performance, but that'll be more down to the new fins and internals than the design of the rad itself. Even knowing and understanding this, I would still replace with Mishi, personally, due to reasons stated: A new radiator will always be more efficient than an old one, barring huge design differences of course.

  11. Hi Jon, thanks, yeh, if the right hand gauge goes up to 180, its MPH. If it goes to 280, it's KPH. As for whether or not the odometer is incrementing km or miles, I don't know if there is any way to be sure without testing in situ using gps, but I'm not too bothered about that anyway, I just want kmh on the speedometer. :)

  12. Unfortunately, Pulsars, and Glanza are highly sought after by youngsters because they're so quick and cheaply modded. Think a young friend of mine was on his 3rd or 4th engine on his GT before he offloaded it to another 20-something who promptly ploughed it into a lamp post in Rhyl.

Am I a bad person when I'm glad that idiots do this?

I sold my EP3 Type R to someone from the villages (think Greek version of Farmer John and his retard son), kid was 18 years old. I was like 'this is a fast car, make sure he knows what he's doing'.

2 weeks later I had the ****er on my phone, his son had rolled the car 5 times (never even told me if the boy was alright or not, but I'm assuming he was) and he wanted to blame me for selling an unsafe car. Since he was swearing at me down the phone, I told him to basically fk off, at which point he started threatening to 'send the boys down'. I told him to send whoever he likes, and I'd send them back in jiffy bags. :)

Shockingly, nobody ever turned up. :) I later learned that he tried to sue to the Honda dealership where he had the car inspected prior to buying it off me as well. Some people just need euthanasia.

My only regret is that the father wasn't in the car as well when it was crashed. Yeh, I'm an orrible you know what. Sue me.

  13. As title, looking for a brake caliper dust guard shield plate thing. You know the one. Sits behind the discs and calipers and stops crap eating your inside pads. From a Brembo car.

I found the other three, but Mr Righty Front is elusive, the bastard. :ninja:

I'm in Greece, but I'll be wanting it shipped to somewhere in the UK, don't worry about that. :) Or maybe you can 'frisbee' it if you've got a good arm?

Not too bothered about condition, as long as it can be rescued, I was planning on refurbing them anyway.

    Thanks in advance!

  14. Bizarre to think its nearly 10 years old now and as above, unless its a complete redesign, its never going to be a looker and i would hazard a guess its coming to the end of its lifespan in this guise and the next one will be a hybrid and all the updates in looks will go into that.

    Just had a wiki:

    R32 - 6 year span

    R33 - 5 year span

R34 - 3 year span (unless you count the z tune)

So the 35 is doing pretty well at 10 years.

Few cars reached 10 years of production largely unchanged. The S2000 is another, can't think of any others off hand (that are worth talking about, no econoboxes ;)), can u?
