Whacky's problem was he loved to tell "stories" and people, including myself, called him on them. He lived in his own little world and most likely needs psychological help.
He seemed to be around a while with over 12,000 posts, its a shame when something like that happens,
everybody likes a good story, with a happy ending.

Whacky fell out with a few people ... we had a poster who was a complete D!ckhead and he and Whacky were hammer and tongs at various times ... some people got fed up and took sides ... the D!ckhead left (got barred ?) and so did Whacky ...
Oh dear , nothing like a good forum punchup, seems like whacky is missed.

130i is a cracking little car, best mentioned so far.
I agree, I am trying to persuade him back to a Beemer. Its a nice drive as well.
Cheaper in every way instead of the TT.

If only, if only, I did suggest it. his choice so far is a BMW 1 series, another Golf or a Audi TT, which is now looking
favorite.

They can carry more speed into the corners, due to the aero and the wider tyres. This means they're braking later, so less chance to outbrake someone. So less overtaking, which is compounded by following in dirtier air.
They are also wider which doesn't help..like street circuits or Hungary.

I still think Massa is a pussy for coming back. It's not like Williams are exactly ploughing forward and challenging at the top, is it?
Be good to see Bottas in the Merc, but I think he's going to massively struggle. Which will give RB (and maybe Ferrari?) a bit of hope, if they can steal enough 2nd places and Lewis breaks down then they could challenge.
I assume no-one realistically thinks that anyone other then MB with Lewis is likely to win the title this year? Could well be the most boring year for ages.

IIRC on the mk1s a single exhaust is the 150bhp FWD version, personally I'd want the Quattro at least pref with 225bhp, gotta be doable in that budget I'd hope. Other than that, it's the dash clocks which go screwy and cost a fortune, check/budget for replacement.
Mk2 a thoroughly better car, are they in budget?
Yes can just about get a 2006 or 2007 Mk2 for about that money.

Hi All Members.
Need a bit of family help here as I'm not up to date on Audi cars,
but my son is in the market for one. Got between £5k to £7k
to spend on an Audi TT, (Bank of Dad).
Anybody on here have any experience of having one, and what to
look out for when buying one.
I know there are many variations, so any help on deciding would be appreciated.
