  1. It will do that for a week or two , its very common it needs to dry out properly , they should have told you this

If its still like it after a couple of weeks go back , do NOT mess with it in the meantime

Had my evo done previously with more of a bow to the rear window by the same guy and was perfect.

  2. It doesn't look the best. Its a pain tinting the edge where the raised dots are, but usually applying heat can shrink the film to get rid of that bit. It looks like the film on the top left was creased when fitted. They may argue you have pitting on the window itself on the bottom right that they can do nothing about. Window tint is evil evil stuff to deal with though.

Its a new hood so the window is new, the glass has not been cleaned properly prior to tinting by the looks of it, no heat gun was used in or out the car for the shrinking etc.

  3. Did you ever resolve this? I'm fighting a similar problem....swapped speedo... no different....swapped sensors on diff. ..and checked fuses.... still no good.... thinking of pushing it in the sea. .. Peter

Hi Peter, was told its possibly the speed sensor on the gearbox, so im gonna PM Jon@emperor and see if he has one... worth a try

Ok, so if you registering in mph, you most likely have one of the above, which is what i have had problems in the past with, along with a few others. It will most likely be spliced into the loom behind the instrument cluster, so remove the cluster, there is a guide in here somewhere and its pretty easy, you will be left with the instrument multi pin connecter sticking out the dash and hopefully you should see one of these spliced into the loom.

Remove and re connect the original colour coded loom wires, reinstall instrument cluster and see that your speedo works.

Put some photos up if your unsure.

Jet if i remember right when had it facia and cluster out to do the cameras, i always check pin connections before i put anything back and it looked like there was no connections added to the cluster loom, but will remove it today to double check and will post a couple of pics.

  5. I think your missing the point, the digital gauge will always have the letters, kmh, regardless of a speed chip.

So, presumably your speedo registers the speed your travelling in mph and the digital gauge shows roughly the same speed?

Thats what i would have thought

  6. I think you're right, the only JDM cluster with MPH that I can find after a fairly extensive search, is the Nismo article for 800 quid from Japan.

therefore, I would agree that if he has a facia that shows mph and digi that shows kph, there must be a converter (and a change of facia) in the mix.

If you can stomach that price, scotzman, that's the one to get!!

Here's a second hand one for a little less.

Or just get my speedo fixed

  7. The digital gauge will mirror the speedo, presuming they both show the same speed and is it that in mph or kmh, not what is written?

Digital one reads in KMs and face dial has the mph... if that makes sense.. I deally if im gonna have to buy a second hand cluster obviously i would buy it in MPH as i was gonna buy one anyhow..

  8. If its using a speed chip converter my money would be on that, I bought two that never worked properly.

Hi Jet..I wouldn know about the speed chip converter unless its a De-limiter which i found hanging in the passenger footwell.. this is the same as what i found.

Does your speedo read in kmh or mph?

Hi Jet speed on digital reads Klm

  9. Another cluster. It's a relatively quick test to eliminate the actual speedometer mechanism, but like I said, it's a fairly long shot, given that the digi doesn't work either.

Unfortunately i dont have another cluster to try, i could buy another second hand one Aash then would i not be better going for one with MPH

  10. I was going to suggest swapping the cluster from another Z just to check, it's a 2 minute job and would eliminate the easiest part to change (and source), though if you change cluster you might want to have the miles re-programmed to be correct. But since the digi isn't working, maybe it's something else.

Im guessing its more than a 2 min job in my case with the cameras :) the cluster is JDM and still in KLM, there is a speedo de-limiter hanging iin the passengers footwell but im guessing its not related

I swapped mine from a US one in miles to a Euro one in kms without any issues whatsoever. In any case, pop the ignition trim out (ring around the ignition), remove the lower steering column cowl, undo 4 bolts and a plug, that's it. :) Pop the other in and just see if the needle moves, you don't care if its miles or km to see that the needle moves I suppose.

Hi Aash, do you mean disconnecting the SLD and putting the original harness block back in ie eliminating the sld... or are you meaning another cluster

Where abouts does this chip go? Mine has the same problem but ultra-intermittent (normally on hot days/after a long drive).

Standard computer fix of "turn the car off and back on"

Its not that the car needs a reboot as everytime i get in there is no speedo

  14. Speedo is controlled by a fuse in the foot well. Double check them to start with.

If the pod has stopped working too the white box behind the AC controls might be knackered?

Hi Marz, had the dash out a few times to fit reverse/front cameras/double din etc, but speedo had stopped before i did all that, checked all fuses in the footwell yesterday and all seemed ok, maybe i should double check them again as suggested as most people with this problem when they re-seat the fuses they have a bit of luck.

  15. Hi all, speedo on my 350 2005 jdm has stopped working... pulled the fuses from the foot well and behind the battery and all intact,.. speedo shot up a couple of times but now nothing, not even the digital one, indicators i get sound from..... what would be the next check after the fuses... thanks for any help..

  16. The little brackets at the bottom of the front bumper that you slide clips onto to screw the undertray on...

The edges of mine are all ripped off (as below), so the clips don't stay in place. Any suggestions on a way to repair these, a replacement bracket, or a good alternative?

Currently everything is held on by zip ties, which do a fantastic job, but are a tad unsightly and a bitch to reapply after taking the undertray off.

Could you just plastic weld an edge back on? Or fashion another bracket out of metal and stick it on?

    Picture for reference:

    fXRsDPa.png?1

Or m6 Flange Bolts, and a washer if needed.

  17. Pretty certain those headlights are for LHD cars (eBay listing shows them fitted in what looks like America for example). Worth being aware of before commiting to aftermarket.

(edit) ignore me, just noticed the listing offers both fitments.

Dont they have Vetical and Horizontal adjusters to compensate the throw of the beam though
