  1. Thanks for all the advice and experiences. Will probably give Aldershot Nissan a ring and see what's what. I drive to Aldershot on a weekly basis so works well with my schedule.

Abbeymotorsport -thanks Mark, read and heard many, many great things will keep you in mind perhaps for non-servicing bookingsðŸ‘ðŸ¼

  2. When I was living in Epsom, post the warranty period I took my Zeds to TGM Motorsport at Fleet (ask for Tom).

OK, so they are in Hampshire just off Junc 4a of the M3, but they have a god reputation on here for servicing and bodywork on the Zeds.

    Thanks Ebized,

I've actually got family in Fleet so will look into that one. Cheers

  3. DD monthly is 5% so if your tax is £300 per annum that £15 over the year extra you pay, which is about one seventh of a tank of petrol which is quite frankly something you do not blink an eye at.

£15 is £15... It's nothing to turn your nose up at. Up here you could get a couple rounds for that, though I guess darn south you'd be lucky to get half a shandy.

And for those of us (un)lucky enough to be in the higher tax bracket, that £15 becomes £25...

It's not like it's harder to pay annually, if anything it's easier, why throw away money for nothing unless you have some desperate need or better use for that £300?

furthermore if I were to start my tax now I believe (but don't quote me on this!) that I'd end up paying the entire of January regardless of the fact I'm only starting it from the 18th.

I believe that is correct, but if you've already bought it, does that mean there is no tax on the vehicle now? Or is it currently SORN?

    SORN

You mentioned that you specifically wanted to get paid post Christmas before paying tax so presumed that you were not in a situation to comfortably pay before that hence the monthly payment option being mooted.

Ah, never presume my friend. I'm comfortable this year to pay it before I get paid again but who knows what my situation might be in future years. Just covering my back really for the future, furthermore if I were to start my tax now I believe (but don't quote me on this!) that I'd end up paying the entire of January regardless of the fact I'm only starting it from the 18th.

Looks as though there's not much discount for paying it upfront (for a pre 2006 anyway) and for £15 your quite right, it's barely worth paying it annually if your primarily doing it for the discount. I just prefer to pay things annually than have continuous monthly outgoings throughout the year, just my preference really, any pennies it saves me are a welcomed added bonus!

  5. Ok pretty low mileage but (no offense intended here!) - I just can't imagine someone caring that much about it now, as long as it's been serviced, sure, and proof of it but by Nissan specifically ?

You have guys like Sly at Kaizer Motors who worked at Nissan for 10 years or something, plus plenty of other places (closer to you) that have experienced people who have been working the cars for years, unlike Nissan themselves most likely

Still just a service, do a search on here, see if anything comes up.

Don't think the vast majority of prospective buyers care too much about it but I think it is just a bonus if it does have FNSH. A full dated record from the manufacturer on the system of what's been done can't be a bad thing 😊

I know I could save some pennies but it's just convenience, would rather just carry on the servicing with them. And hopefully block book in a plan so it's all done and paid forðŸ‘ðŸ¼

I have a local (10 min drive) garage to me who has done all my servicing on my daily at fairly good rates but I feel I'd be cutting the Zed short if I was to stop the existing track record. Just my ideal preference really, we shall see 😊

  6. Depending on the age/mileage - is that really worth it ???

Just to change oil filter etc

Thanks buddy, it's only done 50K miles. I know Nissan will probably rip me a new one but it is attractive for prospective buyers when I come to sell her on in a couple years. I'm only 15/20 mins from both so it's pretty convenient for me as well 😂

  7. Normally wouldn't go to main dealer but my Zed currently has full Nissan service history (believe it or not) so ideally I would like to keep that going, was thinking either Epsom Nissan or Guildford Nissan.

Anybody any experience with either of them?

    Thanks in advance 😎

  8. Willsy and Coldel, good ideal but I just like to pay everything off as much as humanly possible, so no need to worry about it again for a while. If I could pay 2 years upfront I probably would.

I'm not about that monthly game

  9. The important question is, have you gotten it insured and enjoying it!?

All in good time Olly, all in good time 🤓

In other words, will be starting it from 1st of next month, so when it comes to renewal in future years I will have been paid again after Christmas ready to fork out for the insurance and tax all in one go ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

  10. Don't get the cheapest, get the one that covers you the best.

I agree but when I was younger, so much younger, I had to go cheap. Although I couldn't afford a Zed at 21. I could hardly afford the clapped out Capri I had. Times were different then.

Worked my bum off and been saving for a very long time to get my Zed 😠Every penny I have is money I've earned. Will probably go with Admiral, £1500 fully comp. not too bad considering I'm 21.

I know we discuss this on the forum time and time again but I can't help but think that is extremely high. When I got my first Z, I was also 21, I never paid more than 850 with admiral or eleplant.

Do you live in a city centre? Or anywhere near Luton

Hmm premiums have probably increased, but that does seem a jump!

Nope, I live in a village in leafy Surrey 😂

  11. Yeah Black box is a no go, basically downgrades the car to a 1.2. I would consider it if it was considerably cheaper but for the sake of a couple hundred, I'd rather pay a bit more than have the hassle of a black box.

  12. Personally, i'd go with Admiral out of those. Don't get a black box either, yeah you save 300 but the restrictions will ruin Z ownership.

Also, I see 4 years driving but only 1 yrs no claims ? Have you had a claim ? If so that will be the issue on prices as those are double the going rate.

Black box was never an option. I just wanted to put it there to show how much better value for money flux Direct policy was, but there's always a reason something is far cheaper.

No I've never had a claim, I've only got 1 years NCB because when I went to University for 3 years I sold my car. I've been named driver on other policies here and there but never main driver.

£1200-1500 is double the going rate ? So you reckon I could get it for £600-750 fully comp on a V6 at 21 years old ?

As much as I would love that it would be brill 😠but I think that's fairly un-likely given my age. I'm in a really good postcode too and a minimum risk job. I'll probably go with Admiral see if I can get them down any more over the phone ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

  14. I am with Chris Knott cannot fault them, although again age might be a challenge

Yes I think age is a restriction with Chris Knott and also believe you need atleast 1 years experience of driving that car already. Thanks anyway

  16. I'd go with Admiral, they aren't great, but gonna be the cheapest.

Should come down £300+ if you opt for multi-cover too (other car doesn't have to come onto the policy immediately, but you get the discount straight away.)

(Other car doesn't have to belong to someone in same household either, any direct family member is fine IIRC.)

Sounds good but the other car isn't up for renewal until June, will look into it though, thanks for the tip ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

  17. I had my skyline insured with Flux, they charged me for extras I didnt want or need without asking me if I wanted them, when I cancelled my policy after a week they tried charging me 90% of the policy for a weeks insurance. Ended up going through the ombudsman to get my money back. Would never get insurance with them again

I think your personal experience alone has concreted me not taking a policy out with them. Always suspicious when something looks too good to be true. Thanks Ian

  18. Hi Guys,

I'm getting insurance quotes from Money Supermarket:

    •Flux Direct - £1200

    •Admiral - £1200 (With Black Box Fitted)

    •Admiral - £1500

    •Elephant - £1500

Flux direct is coming out far cheaper and without a black box. However I've read some horror story reviews from them.. one review saying as they processed their policy it changed some of their details, (suspecting they did this to void a claim in future) this also happened to me when I was re-directed to flux direct website it took off one of my additional drivers and changed my home owner details.

Has anybody any experience with Flux Direct ? Was keen to go with them until I started reading the reviews.

I'm 21 yrs, held license for 4 years, 1 years NCB. Named driver on another policy.

Thanks in advance for any advice ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

  19. Dyson all the way! Easily the most powerful vacuum on the market, yes it's a fair chunk of cash but 100% worth it. You get what you pay for in this world.

They do tool kits for using in the car, extension hose is really useful to get inbetween the seats and dashboard etc. The V8 cordless one runs for 40 minutes.

It did make me chuckle though that you wrote "Make: Rabbit".

Like someone might mistake it for a puppy or kitten.

No offence intended btw, thought it was sweet. :D

  23. It has to be something you bought for no reason other than it made you smile.

    Rules:

It has to be NON-CAR related!

It has to be NON-PET related!

It can be anything else you like,

    It can be expensive,

    It can be cheap,

Prices do NOT have to be disclosed, but they can be if you wish.

Where is the pet thread? 👀

  24. Mines been on pistonheads for over a month now and not even had a bloody call. It's the 3rd cheapest too and has history etc etc. Don't know what's putting people off

As a perspective buyer I'd say it may be because the GT spec'd ones are more popular. Although yours is at such a good price for the mileage if it's the J88 one?
