  1. I originally posted a hello from myself here http://www.350z-uk.com/topic/105891-hopeful-future-z-owner/ After a shorter search than I was expecting I would like to welcome my new Z onto the forum too. She joined me on Friday afternoon. Had a quick wash and wax Saturday morning before I went and spent the rest of the day enjoying the roads in the Yorkshire Dales. Apologies for the fairly naff pic I am working away this week and this is the hotel car park, I just couldn't wait to show you all, I will hopefully get some better ones after another decent wash this weekend weather permitting. Absolutely smitten with it and although she isn't 100% perfect in that the alloys need a little TLC the rest of her is mint and I got a decent deal. (Couldn't find a single stone chip anywhere !!!) She is 100% OEM at the moment (not even a stubby) which is what I was looking for, although I will likely at least get a stubby and hope that I don't get infected with zeditus. Anyway thanks for everyones comments and help when I was still looking to buy, hopefully get to a few meets and meet some of you in person and I thought you all deserved at least one pic for now .
  2. Thank you both, I am absolutely smitten. Gave her a quick wash and wax yesterday morning and then spent the rest of the day driving round the yorkshire dales. Did take a couple of poor phone pics, if I can figure out how to get one on here I will. Unfortunately working away this week all week so next weekend will give her another wash and then give her a proper welcome onto the forum.
  3. Spotted on the A1(m) south around Thirsk. Sounded and looked thoroughly lovely. I was in my freshly collected grey 350, anyone here?
  4. Well, this thread could be locked I guess. Picked up a grey HR today with a shade over 49k on the clock. Had 120 miles drive home after picking it up in which to become acquainted a little and am thoroughly in love. Best part is it is friday, so have all weekend to get to know her better. She is a tad dirty at the minute, torn between washing or driving her tomorrow weather permitting. Anyway, just wanted to share my happy news.
  5. I had half considered going to look at this with the idea of changing it back to rays and a less horrific exhaust if the rest of the car checked out. Knowing it's been up for a while could potentially be worth a lowball offer?
  6. I completely agree with what you are saying. One I went to view where he wasn't interested in negotiating price I also enquired about my celica as part ex. The reply was "Well obviously it's too old for me to sell", now I know not all dealers will want to sell all things, but I thought that was a little rude. Particularly as there was no reason I thought that should be obvious. Congrats on your purchase, I hope it treats you well.
  7. Whilst I agree with this to some extent there has to be a limit surely. For example I could find a 350 in a condition I would be happy to buy but if it was listed at £30,000 I wouldn't buy it as that would be insane.
  8. That's crazy, I would imagine at the same mileage it would be up for similar now. Best colour being black of course
  9. Ha I would imagine if all that came before price negotiation it was pretty clear you were reasonably well invested. One assumes you are pleased with your purchase.
  10. It seems a bit poor form to me, I know it's quite a desirable car but I can't imagine they are selling mega quick or anything. I may of course be wrong on that point but I have never paid original asking price for a car.
  11. I find that approach of no test drive before you have bought it to be mental if you have someone who is clearly a serious potential customer. I mean who in their right mind would buy a car without having driven it? Which Caterham have you got? I always think that they would be an awesome weekend toy. Had a go in a 2.0l westfield 7 clone at some point and that was very grin inducing. Since I can't convince the missus we need more than one car at the moment something like this would be out of the question for me but always love seeing them out and about. I had the same thing at another dealership down in Bournemouth as well. Thankfully that time my mum lent me her GT86, which is somewhat more suitable for motorway miles I had a Roadsport 125 in race spec, as I did the Academy season. They are great fun of course, but just too compromised except as a 'very occasional use' toy even for hardcore drivers (the lack of a locking boot was the thing that finally did for me). Caterham's are overpriced for what they are without a doubt as well. Is that the k series engine or the ford lump? Even if they are over priced and a bit hardcore would love to have something similar at some point.
  12. What sort of price we talking, any mention of clutch etc? And thanks for the extra info. Whilst all of my car purchases in the past bar one have been sub 60k I don't mind more miles on a well looked after car for the right price.
  13. Thanks very much for taking the time to post a link, unfortunately it says I need to log into facebook. Might have to pester the misses when she gets home from work to look from her account.

  15. Sometimes the dealers just try and cut their nose off to despite their face. One of the HR`s I saw, I offered the bloke a grand less than he wanted for a "quick sale". He laughed at me and wouldnt even entertain giving me 6 months road tax (250quid). I walked. I then noticed he couldnt shift the car and in the end he dropped about £2500 off the screen price before he got rid of it. With the 370z`s dropping in price you certainly would assume that the 350z prices would drop accordingly. 370z or 350z is very much a personal preference. I had a 3 day loan of a brand new 370z when my 350z HR was in for some work. Personally I preferred the looks of the HR over a 370z, performance wise, I didnt feel there was anything in it on the road. However, the 370z was definitely much nicer inside. The dash/steering wheel, plus the media centre were all miles better (imo) than the HR. I have to admit I probably prefer the HR externally to the 370. Not sat in a 370 but they do look, and others opinions tend to concur, to have the nicer interior. I know what you mean about dealers, I'm just trying to keep my eyes and ears open for any that do drop in price or appear as new listings.
  16. Thanks for the heads up however I don't use Facebook, have you possibly got a link I can follow that wouldn't require me to have a Facebook account.
  17. Thanks. There certainly seems to be few any where particularly close to my house, there are a couple fairly close held by the same dealer, wouldn't even entertain the idea of a negotiation on price which is his prerogative of course but when listed for nearly 13k and with 6 370s listed on the trader that are lower than that I thought he was probably asking a little much. In fact the recent price drop of some of the 370s makes me wonder whether or not the HRs will come down in price or indeed whether I should consider a 370 instead.
  18. Morning all, I am hoping to find a nice standard HR zed, the decent ones at various stealers seem to be a little heavily priced in my opinion but I'm not in a rush, would rather wait and get a nice one at the price I want as it will be my daily. I don't have a fixed budget in mind as this will depend on the car but really would like a completely standard uk GT coupe. If I had a wish list it would be black with low miles and nav but I'm open to anything really that isn't orange. Not that I have anything against the temper orange per say it's just that I don't think it would be appropriate for turning up to clients sites in. If anyone has plans to sell or knows of anyone I should get in touch with then please let me know. I am happy to travel almost anywhere on the mainland but knowing that the car has been looked after will obviously make the decision on a trip to view easier. Many thanks.
  19. Yeah, Silver was his last choice on colour too so it kind of sealed the deal. Power was investigated in April 2015 - no further history from there so it feels a bit like a dump and run job. Not my place to find the owner to be honest, I was more technical advice . By no means a mechanic but I have an interest in how it all works and have tinkered with my own cars. Exactly. Best case - just needs a thrashing Worst case - head gasket. Not a risk I'd be prepared to take personally. Thanks for the tip off. No worries. If it helps someone out then I've done my job. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk I think this thread has quite possibly saved me a trip. I have had my eye on this but it's the best part of 200 miles away from me. Had been toying with the idea of calling and negotiating over the phone prior to viewing to make sure the trip was worthwhile but am now less keen to do so.
  20. Well, it wasn't to be. Got a call 2 hours into my journey south to say that the car had sold. Luckily I was heading that way anyway for work otherwise I would have been a bit niggled. On another note I spotted this on the trader: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201602221290553?radius=1500&onesearchad=used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew&postcode=ls42sa&searchcontext=default&sort=default&make=nissan&search-target=usedcars&model=350_z&page=1&maximum-age=up_to_9_years_old&logcode=p It's a HR with GT pack and 40k miles, £6950. It's a vcar so I don't know how I feel about it for myself but could be a bit of a steal for someone.
  21. So today is the day I can actually finally go and view this car in the flesh. I have been thinking about the whole oil gallery gasket problem and wondering whether you think low oil pressure should be a deal breaker, or a tool for hefty bargaining. On the one side, if it currently is showing low oil pressure, I won't know how long this has been the case and whether any longer term damage has been caused, but if I can use that to get a large amount off the price does this make it worthwhile? The other thing I guess is that it will be a 170 mile trip back home before I can book it in anywhere to have it fixed, I don't know how I would feel about driving all that way knowing that I am potentially starving the engine of oil. I will keep my fingers crossed that all is ok, and am prepared to walk away if needs be but was wondering if you or anyone else had any thoughts on this matter.
  22. I don't know if this is standard or not, it is one of the cheaper HRs that is currently listed, but is also one of the higher milers. The higher mileage 370s seem to have come down in price a reasonable amount recently which I have to admit is starting to become more appealing. 400 miles a week sounds like quite a lot in a zed, your fuel bills must be horrendous. Although I would imagine it's also much more fun than doing 400 miles a week in a diesel repmobile.
  23. AMT thanks for your input, I will keep an ear out at the corners for suspension noises. MIGWEL wow that sounds like an almost brand new car. Sounds like a cracking deal, nice one. Will obviously be posting if I become an owner so you will all be kept up to date.
  24. Got mine changed under a 3rd party warranty. Think I paid £300 for the warranty so worked out worthwhile. The new gaskets are steel reinforced whereas the originals are just paper gaskets. In my eyes that's nissans admission that the originals are not up to scratch. That's actually really handy information thank you. Gives me a little confidence. It's unlikely that I would buy a third party warranty myself still but it makes me think that if symptoms start to show in the period after buying the car (if I do of course) then it is worth trying to get it on the warranty.
