  1. I've got an ARK GRiP on mine, which seems to fit your sound requirements. It also looks great IMO. I'm running standard cats, and would say it's on the loud-ish side but far from offensive, so would probably be what you're after with a louder cat set up.

  2. As Rabbitstew mentioned, you need to check for the 2 airboxes under the bonnet (or the 7500rpm redline) rather than assuming anything '07 or later is HR.

I believe the oil burning issue was on the RevUp engines. The oil gallery gasket issue is one to look out for - that affects oil pressure rather than usage though. The gauge should be near the top when the engine is started from cold. I didn't realise this affected all HRs though - can anyone else confirm?

  3. Well I'm just about to get MPS4S fitted, so if they're crap I'm going to come back here and call Dan some rude names.

I did manage to order the fronts in the wrong size, so not off to a great start but sadly I think that one's on me :(

  4. Pretty inevitable move really - cars are always getting more powerful and NA engines are all but a thing of the past in new cars. I liked the original GT86 a lot though - it was light and nimble, and had great steering.

Lockdown compared to Italy is not being allowed to leave your home. Only being allowed to go to the shops to get urgent supplies. That being local. The Chinese lockdown basically didnt allow anyone to leave a catchment area unless they were medical staff, police or military. Its up to you whether you take it seriously or not. No ones saying you need to go out and buy 500 pasta bags and kitchen rolls etc. Just be wary. Judging by the amount of events such as Euros being postponed till next summer I think its kind of serious.

I live in London ive seen the real empty shelves. Its happening more so here than anywhere else. Yes I get it people are stupid for panic buying and overreacting. Thats human nature, no one wants to die in a worse case scenario. What did you expect? Not everyone will react the same. Ive seen people with one or two items leaving the store, while others had their baskets packed.

We dont know what the future holds, dont judge people for being scared and worried. How do you know its all based on media. It might just be reactionary. Seeing how others are buying everything they too want something for themselves. Just because youre not worried doesnt mean others are not allowed to be. Weve had waves like this before and there are going to be more which could be more severe. Either way theyll let us know what the next step is.

    Thats just my two cents.

Some people will overreact and that is what it is, but I see it as my responsibility to tell them to calm down for everyone's benefit. Let's not turn a bad situation into a disaster.

Yea I agree. It's just very hard to make an informed opinion based on the information we have at the moment. I believe it's either going to blow over within a few months, the press will get bored and we will go back to business as usual or it's going to turn into a catastrophic sh*t show. I really don't know which of the two at the moment.

Remember when we thought the internet would make us all better informed?

I must say I went from being completely unfazed by the whole thing to fairly concerned very quickly.

So much contradicting information in the press and even from governments and victims.

We are being told the death rate is very low and only a real concern for elderly or unwell people. Then on another hand I've viewed loads of verified videos of European doctors on twitter in complete meltdown mode, some having nightmares when they sleep and showing lines upon lines of dying people on ventilation. I've saw doctors crying saying they can't help these people and that it's way more serious than governments are suggesting, they're also saying being young does not make you safe.

So yea, it's all a bit confusing at the moment. Like everyone else I have bills to pay and currently work in an office with over 60 other people in an open space. Not a great deal I can do but keep cracking on until anything changes.  I worry about the financial fall out as much as the virus itself.

I feel a bit like this. Latest I'm hearing suggests that we're basically heading towards full on lockdown, and the only reason to do that is until a vaccine can be found or we achieve herd immunity, both of which will take a very long time. All I can say is that if we're going to completely destroy the economy (which will lead to a lot more sick people not being able to get healthcare) then this thing had better be a whole lot more serious than what I've heard so far. I can't help but worry that short term panic is the driving force here, but I don't claim to be an expert - I'm just trying to process the information available to me.

Talk us through the measured response then.

Carry on as close to normal as possible. Observe good hygiene. Do what you can to protect the vulnerable. Don't panic buy. Don't go out if you get ill. Pretty standard stuff really.

May as well not have any health care at all and just accept death is inevitable.

No one is questioning the sensationalism but it can be sensational and a threat, they’re not mutually exclusive.

A measured response is what he's talking about, which your reply was not.

Some people have claimed it is not as bad as flu while others have died. Which is it....

I haven't heard anyone claiming it's not as bad as the flu. The truth appears at the moment to be that it's like the flu, but spreads faster and has a higher mortality rate. I have a feeling that the numbers aren't any where near being accurate though, as we haven't really got an accurate idea of how many people are infected. Maybe once it's 'bedded in' rather than this initial phase, we'll see a much slower spread and less people dying.

Reading the stats of how many people sadly die year on year from influenza in the UK, US China etc is shocking in itself to which this is never reported on in the media. Start reporting on it heavily, give the virus a scary name and it not hard to cause panic for something that on the whole already exists. I believe this to an experiment to understand how the deployment of information controls the masses, being the prelude to the actual plan.

It does feel like some people are embracing a level of panic that is not proportional to the scale of the problem. No doubt social media and the knock on effect that's had on the mainstream media is a large part of that.

  11. Hi, and welcome. Buy what you can afford - you don't want to stretch to a ropey HR only for something to go wrong that you can't afford to fix. They're pretty reliable cars but nothing's 100% bulletproof.

Also consider how much you want to modify it. I don't think there's much point getting an HR if you're planning to go forced induction for example. Good luck with the search!

She’s a kid who’s never had to live in the real world. Her goal is fine, no issues there, but it’s not realistic so it’s become a religion more than anything. Her patronising tone of voice appeals to the young, but does nothing for those who can actually make a change. That’s her biggest issue, ultimately she wants to be popular like any child.

So, like a smaller version of AOC?

Can get a G37 over there in the states or Q60 unless youre in the City like New York no need for a car

I was planning to get a C6 Corvette Z06, but no need now as I'm not staying. I am in NY but was going to move up to Westchester so I could have a car. You don't need a car as long as you don't mind never leaving the city, but that's not my style.

  14. I've been living in the US for the last two years and nearly sold the zed, but in the end managed to hold onto it with some help from my mum who's looked after it while I'm abroad. I was planning to stay out here for a while longer and would have almost definitely sold it had I done so, but now I'm due to come back in a few weeks so instead I'm going to spend a bit on some upgrades :D

I've always fancied an older R8 and it might still happen one of these days, but I don't see myself selling the zed any time soon so I would have to be in a position where I can afford (and have space for) two impractical cars, which I'm working on.

  15. Hi guys, I'm looking to get a full paint detail (paint correction + ceramic coating etc.) and was looking for recommendations in the South East - I live in Orpington so anywhere that's not a complete mission from there would be good. If anyone has any then I'd be very grateful!

    Thanks!
