  1. I am much preferring the feel of the car on matching tyres all round now, feels more stable and controllable. Not sure how long my rears will last this winter though :)

I met up with the buyer of my S2k today to sort out number plates, we agreed to wait until the new V5's arrived to make it easier all round.

Was a bit strange seeing my old car again, I've never seen one of my old cars before after I had sold it. He seems to be enjoying it which is nice and only mod was a weighted gearknob :)

  2. Have a look for the list of compatible handsets before you waste money on the oem bluetooth. It has limited options and most modern handsets don't work with it.

If your happy with an aftermarket display/controller then a parrot kit will be fine with adapters.

If you want an all in one system then either double din headunit to replace the original but with a usable hands free option or single din is a posibility as well.

  3. Someone at work has just got a really cheap one for the van, it was about £20. It has a decent wide angle lens, 1080 recording and does photos. It doesnt have gps which is handy as he does sometimes push it all the way to 72mph ;)

My only worry is that leaving it in a vehicle leaves it obvious to criminals to steal it

  4. I wouldn't want to crash:

An original Mini or a Reliant Robin. I think both are guaranteed death traps or leg-taker-awayers at least.

Anyway, out of the "10 cars you don't want to crash" they are also "10 cars i'd never consider buying" thankfully

My now wife crashed her classic mini and walked away. The car technically had a crumple zone as the front end folded nicely where the rust was ;) she avoided a crash with a low mileage limited edition mini. She got out, shouted a bit and was fine from it all.

  5. Had the front tyres changed this morning so i have Uniroyal Rainsport 3 all round. The old falkens still had about 3mm left but in this weather they were awful.

I have also received the V5 today and my refund cheque for the S2k, so i can start the process of getting my numberplate on my new car :)

  6. i tried someone i know that is into car stereos about the possibility of having a new bluetoooth module made that could connect to the existing equipment. He did not have any useful info about anyone to contact sadly.

i spoke to car local car audio place that is a Bury supplier. My thought was to fit a new Bury kit if it could use the existing wiring, his reply was good luck getting it to work.

So looks like i will be going to down the new headunit route for bluetooth calls and music which will also keep the steering wheel controls, shame to lose the original headunit but it doesn't do what i need sadly. I will most likely go for a single din as i have sat nav built in so i don't need to pay extra for that feature and double din headunits don't look that nice.

It looks like the adapters and fascia will cost the best part of £120, so i will do some searching before i buy anything.

  7. Had the car for nearly a week and starting to enjoy it more.

Gave the car a clean this morning in the hope it is dry tomorrow for Goodwood.

I didn't find anything else obvious wrong with the paint which is always nice, it could do with a quick polish which hopefully my neighbour will be doing as he is in to detailing :)

  8. Cougar Store order was delivered this morning, which considering i only ordered yesterday i am happy with that.

I will be ordering a pair of front tyres soon as the rears are new uniroyals which will be fine for winter. The fronts are falkens which are getting a little low on thread and they have less grip than the uniroyals plus i also like having matching tyres all round. i will wait until next year till i replace all 4 for Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2's

  9. I gave my wife my 2005 Civic Type R ep3 worth about £4k at the time. I'm also looking at putting the extra money towards her next car.

I earn more than her but i also change my cars alot more frequently, so she keeps her cars for 3-4 years happily but i generally change every 12-18 months.

She has already said that if i think about selling the 350z she wants it, thats fine by me as i still get to drive it while not having to pay for everything on it, i help out on big bills if needed. Yeah it costs me more overall but she is your wife, a happy wife makes a happier husband ;)

  10. Since we have been living together we have had a joint account which covers all household bills, animal bills and food, mortgage, electricity, sky, phone, food, etc etc We both pay the same amount into the account when we get paid, that way we know that all the house and bills are sorted without any worries. We then have our own money with whats left from our salary.

I earn more than her so i tend to pay for extra things that we do from my money, i have also offered to pay for her hobbies but she wont accept it. I know it will all change if/when we have a child/children.

When we were getting married i gave her my 2005 Civic Type R so she had a more sensible daily car which can also be suitable if we have a child, she sold her mini and put that money towards the finer detail bits she wanted for the wedding. Generally i do things so that it works in her favour.

As for her buying something off me, i don't think that will ever be the case, unless something happens and we split up. We have always had banter about who keeps what animal should anything ever happen, as much as that sounds bad it is banter but its also good to be adults about all possible situations.

  11. That would explain why they are different, i will have a look but it was a Nissan booklet for RPS20.

Last night when i was out the brakes feel fine but i do like to replace them so i know that i have new discs and pads all round when i first get a car. I have ordered a set of DS2500 pads all round and some new discs. They will be delivered fairly soon, not sure when i will get them fitted but its nice to know they will be sat there ready.

  12. I looked through the history again last night and i found a Nissan Brochure for the parking sensors, so i am now sure they are genuine.

Also in the folder is the original 350z brochure, 350z accessories brochure and a pricelist for all cars from 2008. Original receipt from the second owner is in the folder as well.

I let the wife have a go in it yesterday and she loves it :) she has already said this its staying if i think of selling, so that means if i do sell it will be the ep3 Civic that goes.

I haven't fully felt that the 350z was the right car for me, but i think that is because the S2k never let me down, i didn't need to sell it but fancied a change. The car does surprise me alot still with the way that it turns in and handles considering the extra weight of the car compared to the S2k, but it is also nice and smooth to drive but is happy to rev to the limit as well which is something i was worried about. I will be happier once i get some DS2500 pads all round and some decent tyres as well.

  13. Yesterday i picked up my new car. Still a little tired as i only got home at 2am and have had 3 hours sleep before work.

The car is a 2007 350z 313 GT in gunmetal grey with black leather. It has the usual GT spec but also has NAV and parking sensors, although i need to check if they are OEM or aftermarket as they are not painted. The car has 47k on the clock and has an interesting if not sad story to it.

From what i have been told/can remember currently it was a demo car when new, hence the decent spec. I have a copy of the receipt from the second owner who did not get to drive the car/drove it very little due to illness which got the better of him sadly. The car hadn't done many miles or been serviced in that time. The third owner purchased the car and used it till 10k, and did what was needed to the car maintenance wise. The fourth owner purchased the car on 10k and has done all the miles upto now which is 47k. He has a 10month old child and therefore the car had to go.

When i viewed the car it had a nice folder with all the history in it, all MOT's were there in individual plastic wallets etc

This will be my daily drive and i do about 18k a year, so this 'build' will mostly be oem maintenance with a possible few changes like Ferrodo DS2500 pads and Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 2 tyres.

Enough of the words as they bore me in journals, so here are some pics

The numberplate was the original owner so has a nice tie in with the vehicle as such, so i am tempted to put that on retention while mine is on the car. May be a waste of a few quid keeping it on retention but i like the fact its been on the car since that second owner.

  14. The 3 cars I looked at all the oil filler caps were done up stupidly tight, so either the owners liked to make sure they were done up or they didn't undo them very frequently which hopefully means they didn't go through oil. I chose a 313 as it should hopefully be a good engine with the updated parts that doesn't need to be modified, also I do high miles so a car that goes through oil is annoying as I need to keep a stock for when I go on long work journeys, my M5 for example did 1l of castrol TWS 10w60 every 600 miles but that is still within BMW spec for that engine.
