The Megane's engine is it's weak point.
Low revving motor, compare to many.
275 bhp pretty much it's limit.
Without very major work.

Mercedes have really got the HH ground now. My mate has an A45AMG.
A UK firm are already taking them from 360 to 414 bhp with just a remap and exhaust swap. That is incredible from 1991cc of 4 cylinders.
0-60 in 4.0 and 0-100 in 9.0. Epic.
Ferrari Testarossa V12 performance.
-
It should do and the inevitable 350 bhp remap will be fun.
-
With 311 bhp the CTR certainly won't be slower than the 275 bhp Renault.
Hot hatches are now so strong, it's hard to be the best.
360 bhp Merc. 300 bhp Golf. 301 bhp Ford. 320 bhp 1 series. 350 bhp Audi.
We have seen so many mega hatches now, over the recent past.

My 182 Cup had the measure of every 172 I came across and I got it 16 months old for a song.
Great car. Daily driver I said, btw and the extras it had made it better for that, than the empty, basic 172.
-
Skoda Fabia 1.9 tdi a great stop gap.
60 mpg. Zero depreciation.
130 bhp. 229 lbs.
180 bhp, 300lbs with a remap

Just hope Honda have learned from the last CTR swap. 1 bhp more and heavier. Not good.
-
My 182 Cup was anything but rubbish. A good daily driver, nicer than the 172 for sure.
I forget the designation now but one particular 182 had top end suspension as standard.

I dare not work out what I have spent/lost on cars and bikes..

Clio 182 Cup. Great car, mega suspension, low depreciation.
Then get your CTR but let's hope they get it right this time. Last CTR rubbish.

2005 Lancer Evo FQ300.

The Escort engine is an inefficient fossil, in fairness.
-
With the development time the 2.5 has had 350 bhp with little lag should be possible.
It felt a slow relic after the A45AMG.
-
The 350/370 might not be the last word in power and speed, but I drove a Subaru STi this morning, a friend bought it 3 weeks ago new. 296 bhp and 300 lbs-ft it has. 2.5 litres of turbo flat 4. He changed from an early 350Z.
UGH, springs to mind. Laggy, poor throttle response and not that quick. All over by 6,500 and nothing below 3,000 rpm.
That is one engine which needs a total revamp.
-
Exactly, what to do!
£500 is quite a lot for no real improvement according to many.
Nissan service history will add value to your car come sales time with most buyers. (PH survey on official v independent fsh).

The more I read the more I think leave it standard, to be honest.

Spinning and kickboxing I coach. That was a spin class.

20% of women are having some sort of psychological help at any one time in the UK.
Scary statistic, hey?
Scary, because it means that 79% are out there, untreated!!

The C63 AMG, what a car, what an engine. But drinks like a certain lady prime minister's old man.

At the gym yesterday. About 50 car spaces free. One disabled space only. I park the wife's S3.
An almighty noise which can only be a low capacity 4-pot with an exhaust you could hide in arrives. (2004 Clio 1.2).
Yep, 2 lads about 18 park IN the final disabled space.
I try to be polite and point out their error...get a right mouthful
"One day, you'll take your 90 year old mum or dad to the supermarket, doctor or dentist and two numpties in a tatty heap of crap will have just taken the only disabled place. What will YOU say to them?"
Was my parting shot.
Horror of horrors when it turns out I'm training them in my class!

Good reading, thanks.

That's right. Many cars are geared silly high in the top 2 gears, either for noise or other regs or for stated economy.
I have geared my Caterham R500 down, using lightweight 13" wheels instead of 15s. But I would not want say 16s on the 370!
hot hatch? New Type R?

I loved the Honda NSX, facelift 6 speed 3.2 model.
Just needed 50 bhp more. 276 just wasn't enough in that chassis.
