  1. I have just bought a 2006 with full history and its only done 25000 miles but the last three services says intermediate I guess its because it had not done many miles since the P3. What is a P3 and is it expensive. I live in Gloucester so can anyone tell me my nearest honest and inexpensive garage who knows how to service a 350Z or is there no such garage.

    Regards keith

  2. I wouldnt worry about 97, but 95 is asking for trouble.

Its been a long time since I saw bottom Ron I guess he is prob dead now or should be after all the things he got up to Lol

  3. I had a 2008 350Z in the past and ended up with a floppy clutch but the clutch would bite as soon as it was off the floor. I have started looking for another 350 Z and found one I like. I did ask the owner about the clutch and he said it was perfect but it does not bite until it is almost at the top of its travel which I have always thought it meant the clutch was on its way out, but he said he has mentioned this on this 350Z site and was told this was normal on a 350Z. I do not want to buy the car then face a bill of over £2000. I would like member's thoughts on this please.

    Regards Keith

  4. Hi guys, owned my '53 plate 350Z GT about 5 years. It had a new clutch before i bought it (not including a flywheel) it. Not had a days trouble with it ever since (37000 miles ago).

I Just got back from driving through Switzerland and the Stelvio Pass in Italy. Had the dreaded floppy clutch quarter mile from the top of Stelvio mountain. Let it cool down for half hour and the clutch returned to normal behaviour. Nursed it for a day then was fine for the 1100 mile journey home. After a few hours driving, between 3000-5000rpm it will make ticking noises while driving. Noise is only their in gear.

Can anyone suggest what needs replacing, most garages round here want me to supply my own clutch kit and if needed flywheel.

Do what Alex said " Fresh fluid, braided line and new external slave cyl will fix the fault."

    Regards Keith

  5. My car was a 2008 so would it have been a HR engine. I think I remember Nissan of Gloucester saying the clutch and flywheel were more expensive because it was a HR engine. I guess the HR engine suffered from floppy clutch pedal as well. I do wonder how many clutches were replaced by Nissan of Gloucester when all that was needed was Fresh fluid, braided line and new external slave cyl .

  6. Common issue Keith on the DE.

Fresh fluid, braided line and new external slave cyl will fix the fault.

    Alex. :)

Thank you Legend I had never heard of anything like it before and surprised Nissan of Gloucester did not know about it. I will now get back in touch with the dealer who sold me the car and see if he had put a new clutch in the car like he said he was going to do before he sold it on. I am so angry that I got my money back on the car because I thought I was facing a £2500 bill.

    Regards Keith

  7. A few months ago I bought a 350Z from a dealer but after three weeks of ownership I went to overtake a car and had my foot down hard when the clutch pedal went all floppy and flopped to the floor and there was a horrible burning smell but after a few seconds the pedal returned to normal and drove normally until I accelerated really hard so I assumed the clutch was worn and to cut a very long story short I took the car back to the dealer and got my money back thanks to trading standards. I was put off the 350z because of this as I was told by Nissan dealer not only would I have needed new clutch + flywheel and with labor charges would cost £2500.

To bring you up to date I got the urge for another 350Z and looked on all for sale sites for one and found a really nice one but on asking the owner if he had any problems with the clutch he told me that he had experienced the clutch pedal flopping and he thought it had been a worn clutch but here is the interesting bit when he took it to his mechanic and not a Nissan dealer he was told that the problem was the hydrolic fluid and he said that once that was changed the clutch worked perfectly. I was a bit skeptical about that and did not buy the car but have any members come across this problem as I would love to own a 350Z again.

    Regards Keith

  8. Dealer told me today he will give me all my money back except for £300 which is not too bad as I could have waited for ages before it went to court. I consoled myself over the £300 loss and looked upon it as a 3 month car hire.

I would like to thank all who put input into my topic.

I am now looking for a nice 350Z with a good clutch. Lol

  9. I think this is just an extension of Zeditus - Your "ex" has come back to haunt you - had you kept the Zed and spent more money on it as all Zed owners should it would be parked outside your place to be admired and to be loved, Now it tortures you as you pass it by each day knowing that it is in the hands of an uncaring master.

Or it's just one of them things and someone thought "yea that looks nice it will do me" and happened to live close by

It has come back to haunt me, spent the last 6 months convincing myself i'd done the right thing, so much so that once the wedding is done next April i'm off out to by another zed!! Its gonna be an exciting April in 2015!! :D

I will have a nice Z up for sale once the new Clutch and Flywheel are fitted. LOL

  10. Thanks for everyone for their input. I have found someone in Gloucester who has given me a estimate total of £1263.60 for supply and fit 3 piece clutch assembly + dual mass flywheel and they are almost on my doorstep. I just have to wait to hear from the dealer who I bought the car from to see if they are willing to put their hands in their pockets to pay for it.

  11. Are you not listening to anything everybody is telling you???? The parts have there own warranty the same as the Nissan one.

I really think this thread should be locked as you are not listening to anybody and always correct!

I think you are the one not listening. I took the car to 3 separate garage's within 25 miles of where I live and they all said they would fit a new clutch but would only guarantee it if it was with parts recomended by Nissan.

  12. I wondered if the 2007 350Z HR has a higher top speed than earlier models.I know it red lines at 7500 instead of 7000 and its speedometer goes up to 180mph instead of 160mph. I guess if anyone says they have seen the top speed of their car on a uk road they leave themselves open to prosecution and jail so tell me it was on track or in Germany or other.LOL

  13. Thank's for all your advice. No one would guarantee any clutch fitted unless I use the Nissan HR one. I am still waiting to hear back from the car dealer who sold me the car.Trading Standards has told me that as I was not able to overtake a car without the clutch slipping the car was not fit for purpose. I have been told by Trading Standards that I have to do all contacts with the dealer in writing. I have sent them one letter but so far no reply. I will let you know how I get on.

  14. Did you not do any research before buying the car? Like running costs, potential costs for repairs just so you have a rough idea? Would have thought it'd be common sense.. I mean why would you spend that much money and not understand basic costs of it? Seems mad really, you've only just found that you have a HR 350 as well? No disrespect to you, just curious and probably not the only one thinking it.

When you pay almost £12000 for a 6yr old car with only 40.000 miles on the clock you do not expect to be paying out over £2000 3 weeks later.I did investigate running cost's Petrol,Tax,insurance etc but did not look up the replacement cost on every part of the car besides which the cost for any item can vary by as much £500 depending on who you go to.I always knew going to Nissan dealer would be most expensive.

  15. Just been confirmed my 350Z is the HR version and as such to replace the clutch is £1036.16 and the cost of the Flywheel is just over £1000 without fitting. I have also been told my gearbox does not sound so

good between 1st & 2nd gear so another big expense.I have wrote to the dealer asking for all of my money back seeing that I had the clutch slip the first time I did a fast overtake just three weeks after buying the car.

  16. I really don't know why you are surprised that a clutch is approx £1000? Its a 1.5 tonne car with a 300ps engine, the clutch is always going to be expensive. People buy these cars because they are cheap, but the running costs are the same (if not more) than what they were when the car was new.

    Why are you so surprised?

I am surprised that it needed a new clutch at 40,000 mile's and surprised that a new flywheel may be needed to be replaced as well.

  17. We supply either a replacement DMF for £345 or a Competition Clutch lightweight SMF for the same price. Should not add to the labour charge as its just a few bolts and they will be in there anyway.

You would think it wouldn't cost extra Ewen. But I recently (Saturday), had a quote to replace the clutch, which they supplied, I then asked the question "Would there be any additional cost to fit the flywheel at the same time" response was an addition 2.5hrs charge.

Guess they wont be getting my business ......

Would you mind telling me how much the quote was to replace the clutch.as I have been quoted just over £1000.

  18. Had my car a month and clutch slipping under power. I have 3 month warranty but was told it don't cover wear and tear.I phoned trading standards and was told I should be able to claim my money back as the car was not fit for purpose.I will let you know how I get on after the Easter break.

    Keith

  19. The 350Z runs a dual mass flywheel and nine times out of ten they are worn as well. Just replacing the clutch as others have said is false economy as you will more than likely still get issues and then the box will have to come out again.

Thank's for the info I will see if the dealer will let me have a new flywheel as well. I guess if the flywheel is not covered by the dealer I might have to pay for that separate so any idea what a flywheel and labour charges on that would be.
