Not sure on the difference between years, but there's a connector on the ABS module (near brake fluid res) that you can unplug to disable all stability aids. Install an inline switch into one of those wires and it should sort you out.

This is accurate for an 04 - I have one and have done this a few times.

or just do what the @The Chubby Ninja suggested to me on my first drift day and just unplug it when you want to hoon and plug back in when you want to be safe.

Just want to double check if this is the usual axle clicking problem?

When I'm driving I get a constant click (maybe 2/3 a second) but I don't seem to have the click when I set off from stand still, is this a slightly different problem or the usual axle issue?

getting in on this as I have the same thing. no clikcing at set off but then clicks whilst moving....

Not sure why I've never read this thread before but it looks like your zed has found an enthusiastic owner.

Thanks for sharing and keep on posting

ahh OK, to be honest I like the idea of keeping the 3 point with a bucket seat (it's still my daily) so was curious how well it worked/is it as safe as a normal seat with 3 a point.

realistically, it's not quite as safe as with a normal seat but it will be just as safe as a harness without a submarine belt you could probably slide under the belt a little.

Gonna ask a daft question here so bear with me, how does a normal 3 point belt work with a bucket seat like that?

I haven't got harnesses yet so needs must, but basically the belt on the door side is still attached as normal. and the buckle of the belt on the inside is attached to a mounting point on the seats subframe.

it was either that or wrap harnesses around the rear strut brace thing.... im not the smallest of guys so it still holds me in the same places and i don't do a lot of miles really so.....

will be upgrading to a harness bar and harness in the near future.

are you planning to put seats in?

if so what have you got in mind?

    Yeah I did.

I’ve put a couple of pics of it in here.

Not it got a lot more done in the way of mods but I had to do a few repairs so that’s all been done.

  9. How did I never see this post......

Yeah she looks better now! not so smashed up. i had a little incident with a lamp post and some ice!

this was only a few days after my first drift day aswell.

  10. Not sure yet probably the crail day in june if i can get it off. but i dont think the diff will be done by then unless you know anyone that can do it a lot cheaper

Going up there with C. Ninja is a great idea, he will be able to tell you if its the car or not and also be able to give you some advice, very few people just jump in a car and can magically drift.
And trust me, the worse the car the better you become as a driver, I learnt in a properly knackered old S12 that kept misfiring and had no handbrake, when I finally got into a sorted S13 it was a revelation.

However, you still havent told us if the car will burnout, donut or FO8 ...........

I thought I’d answered that. Lol. Yeah she does but the transitions are a little sketch.

Im sorry mate but that isnt whats being said here at all, if anything the driver isnt drift ready yet - a standard 350Z with lock mods is arguably enough to take a win at BDC Pro-Am with a capable driver, you probably dont need to do anything other than learn to pedal.
Far too many drifters fall into the trap of thinking they need 500hp, hydro handbrakes and Wisefab to do anything, when in actual fact most of the guys that you see and marvel at learned their trade in 100hp Volvo/BMW's on cut springs with no handbrake, I had my 130hp MR2 on the lockstops flat in 4th the other day.

Your diff could be knackered but I think its unlikely, as per my earlier post if the car can donut and FO8 that isnt the problem. If youre struggling to get the rear to break traction add more tyre pressure ......... but to be totally honest the best bet for anyone who wants to be able to drive sideways is to get some tuition, at a normal day (Santa Pod is on today) or at L2D, FlatoutFactory etc., teaching yourself on the street is expensive and often painful. I know this the hard way ;)

Apologies if this sounds condescending but Ive seen ££££'s wasted when in reality all you need is a reasonable RWD car and a bit of practice.

    9

I know what you mean, I definitely need a lot more practice. all I was getting at is that I think I will learn quicker if the car is set up as good as possible. hence trying to find out if there was anything car related that I could do.

I completely agree about not needing the 1000hp to drift, hence learning in a 04-DE-Z that realistically has about 260HP at the most.

I would love to get tuition but the cost of it at driftland is nearly £400 for a half day.  that's quite a lot of money. Guess I'll just need to get @The Chubby Ninja to give me some tips next time we are there.

  13. Thanks for all the reply's sorry it took a while for me to get back,

I think the more I read up on it along with all your replies it's becoming more obvious the Z just isn't ready for proper drifting yet.

I'm going to get the diff welded and see how that changes things - it will need doing at some point so figure ill try that first.

again thanks for the help guys

  14. I have to be honest here and I think the meets section on here is rendered a little obsolete by the likes of Facebook events and WhatsApp.

Realistically we probably had the best meet for a while last week in central Scotland, and as far as I am aware that was all because of the WhatsApp group.

I don't see any harm in these pages and to be honest, I think once a meet is sufficiently organised, posting them on here gives other members the opportunity to join in.

I think if I'm honest the best way to get a meet well sized is the regularity. for example, a once a month meet on a Sunday night once a month. it gives people the ability to plan in advance to attend.

Alongside planning it means you can come from further away and know its actually going to be worthwhile - take the Tartan tarmac meets, for example, everyone in Scotland knows they are the last Sunday of the month and they get crazy levels of attendance. 400+ cars on a good day.

I am not being critical of the new system, or the system at all, just trying to think of a better way to use it, I really don't think we need the regional subsections at all. I think if you were to have 2 subsections, maybe something for National meets - Modded Nats, Japfest etc. and then a separate section for the regional stuff. just so if I'm looking to get info on a big event - I don't have to sift through lots of posts about regional stuff.

I understand that from Kyles point that he is going to struggle to find Irish meets, but again, unfortunately, I feel like that is probably the minority of the users on here - not that I'm saying you don't matter, just its always impossible to please everyone.

     just my thoughts....
