  1. I had an '07 Focus ST-2 before the 370z. Brilliant car to drive - no problems in 6 years of ownership, great handling, awesome engine (in fact, one of the main reasons I got it was the fact a 2.5L five cylinder engine was a bit out of the ordinary in a hatch and, to me, that enhanced the character).

Pretty thirsty though - averaged about 26-27mpg, which is only slightly better than I get now.

  2. Hi, I’ve just noticed the red light flashing on dashboard when I’ve locked the car, is that what you had? Last couple of trips I’ve inserted the key in case it’s the battery, did changing the battery get rid?

    Cheers

As far as I know, the light is supposed to flash when the car is locked - it's just telling you the immobiliser is active. tattooandy67's was coming on while driving, so that's a different issue.

    Oh hells yeah!

Then of course there's running from the squat rack to the nearest toilet/bin before you unintentionally redecorate the gym floor...!

It is quite sad that we've slipped so far as a species that we have to be coached on how to do things that should come naturally, but I do agree it's now necessary in most cases - get fit to run, not run to get fit.

  4. As mentioned above, heating alone won't remove the moisture but will help prevent it condensing. I had an Ebac dehumidifier in my (poorly ventilated) flat a few years ago and it worked great - the amount of water they pull out of the air is incredible and some have a hygrostat/humidistat so they can be set to come on when the relative humidity gets too high.

As a side benefit, compressor-type dehumidifiers also put out heat due to the way they operate; not likely to turn your garage into an oven, but might be enough to raise the temperature a degree or two.

  5. How does the 370Z auto have synchro rev, when it's a slushbox? Surely, because it's a torque converter it cannot have synchro rev by the very definition?

Also, synchro rev is for wimps, real men heel 'n' toe like a pro :p

It's actually called Downshift Rev Matching on the auto (the SynchroRev system on the manual also works on upshifts). I guess it's a drive-by-wire throttle, so it can just electronically blip it to make it sound like a real man heel-and-toeing ;) . Don't think it serves much purpose other than that.

I'm a bona fide wimp by the way, and proud of it! :D

  6. It's happened a couple of times with mine too - probably just a dodgy satellite signal rather than a software/maps issue. Out of interest, you could check the GPS info next time it happens and see how many satellites it's picking up?

  7. On a side note getting a bit fed up with the 370's seeming lack of reliability...

I don't blame you mate; you seem to have had every problem going with yours! I've thought a couple of times that mine might have slipped under acceleration, but I'm always paranoid about these things so could just be in my head.

Was anything done with the clutch when you got your gearbox changed? Could it have been damaged as part of that failing?

  8. 370 auto going forward will be quicker than a manual in reverse.

...and when they're both going at 30mph, there's very little between them. :)

The manual coupé is quoted as 0.3s quicker to 62mph, but I doubt you'd really notice much difference.

They both have their good and bad points so it'll come down to personal preference in the end. For me, it was the manual 'box or nothing - not ready for an automatic just yet. It's a bit clunky from cold, and can be difficult to drive smoothly at low speeds, but once it's warmed up a bit it's very direct and both the lever and the clutch have a good weight. The SynchroRev system on the manual is pretty damn awesome too.

  9. Yeah, mine does this too. Don't know if it's the norm, but you're not alone!

I had a bit of a look and it seems to be the whole pedal assembly that moves, but I couldn't see the point of attachment. Let me know if you fare any better!
