Hey guys! Quick update, had it done the day after I did it at Infinity / Longlife. Cost 150 quid inc VAT. They removed the old one and built up a new one whilst I waited. I was there a few hours but boy was it worth it. Highly recommended! Instead of 2 flexis on the Y tops I have 1 flexi on the straight section.

Ah right, sod more than one layer then lol. Ive got arriving the following: DJ Lube and Clay Bar Meguiars Scratch X 2.0 DJ Purple Haze That should see me right I'm hoping! Any decent and affordable Quick Detailer spray waxes?
-
Well at £6 I'll buy both lol. Can you do a coat of DJPH then a coat of DJSN???
-
Ah right, it's just the Purple Haze panel pot is only £6 and that sounds very cheap to be able to give the Zed a few coats? Shan't complain though and will hit the buy it now lol
-
Nice one, ta mate. Im assuming that the dodo juice 30ml panel pots are as they say and only good for a few coats on one panel? Or would it cover an entire car? Also Poorboys Nattys Paste Wax looks quite good and over 400ml only costs £12 or so via ebay? Would this be a good wax to use after I've polished the car using the Scratch X?
-
Ekona I just purchased the Megs Scratch X 2.0 from ebay on your recommendation thanks mate. The car has a few scratches and a scuff on the rear bumper thats very light but quite large. I'm hoping it will make these marks look alot better. Should I purchase ANOTHER polish to then go over the entire car with or can I use the Scratch X to polish the entire car before waxing?
-
Its not that bad or that noticeable and the dealer managed to get most of it off to be fair. When I viewed it it was worse but the fact its getting better makes me think a agood detail should have it all gone as long as I put the work in.
-
Also need a decent tyre black if anyone can reccomend one?
-
Being exceptionally new to detailing this does interest me alot. Can I get in on the code discount or does full price await me lol
-
Ekona, is it possible for the holograms to never be removed? As in are they likely burned into the car? I could get a professional detailer to do the car but I eant to try myself first for a laugh lol
-
There are very light scratches on the tailgate, and what appears to be some light machine polish attempts that seem to show through on the drivers door that I can notice. Maybe I have OCD though lol. Surely a decent polish attempt can't hurt it though so its worth a go lol
-
Nah no swirls at all that I can see mate. Its actually in exceptional condition and my 7/10 probably doesn't give it the justice it deserves lol
-
I'd say out of 10 the paintwork is at about a 6/7 out of 10. 10 being showroom new and 1 being a red Astra from the 80s lol. It looks fine to be fair but there is sone very minor fade on the drivers top half of the door. A few light scratches by the rear boot hatch etc. All hardly noticeable apart from to me lol. I don't want to machine polish and dont mind getting stuck in to make it look amazing.

Thanks guys. Whats the best polish to use for after the claying and second wash then? I'll be using a few coats of Purple Haze after to lock the shine in.
-
I'll get another clay bar incase I drop the first one then, lol Do DODO JUICE do a polish as well then guys? So far I've got 2 buckets, a chamois, a clay bar and the lube. I think a few items remain such as polishing cloths, a wash mit, the polish, and a good detox shampoo.
-
Thanks for that Tiger, my car is black so I'm assuming purple haze is for dark colours and banana for lighter?
-
Thanks for the advice guys. I have bought the Dodo Juice Basics of Bling Clay Bar and Lube. Apparently the lube comes so that you have to concentrate it? Also the clay bar is a 55g. Hope that's enough to do my car lol For the polishing and waxing what do you guys reccomend? Will I be okay using a decent spray wax for the waxing or am I better off spending more on a wipe on-wax?

Out of interest guys there is an Exedy clutch and XTD light flywheel combo on ebay for under 400 quid that sounds like a good deal. Is the XTD flywheel a dudd though lol
-
Am fine with waiting as I use the car as a daily driver and the weather doesn't look like it's going to get much better any time soon, lol
-
What I want to do ideall is buy an entire kit so I don't have to get all the bits separate. Poorboys and Dodo both seem like good bets, Meguiars seems a bit overpriced in my opinion for full kits? Or am I looking at the wrong sites, lol
-
Thanks guys! Apparently when using the clay bar you also have to use a 'Quick Detailing Spray'. I have Demon Shine spray wax, cheap and cheerful stuff, would this be a good lubricant to use when using the clay bar? I have a tonne of it in a tub which I pour into a spray gun and used to use that to wax all my old crappy cars, would it do the job?

Hey guys, have had the Z for a week now (2004 UK GT) and the initial shiny bling appearance the dealer gave it has vastly vanished, surprisingly so in fact. It now looks quite washed out and dull. I think they did a basic wash and spray wax or similar to be honest, as the beading from the rain it had the first and second day I had it doen't happen at all now. I have heard alot about claying and was thinking this is the ideal car to apply it to, all my other cars have merely had a simple wash and spray wax, and although they came up nice it wasn't a shine that lasted. At all, lol Has anyone clayed their Z and does it do the wonders of dirt removal it is supposed to? Is it best to buy a FINE clay bar or MEDIUM or what? Advice needed all round really please.

Guys, my 2004 350Z has 117,000 miles on the clock with no reciept for a clutch change. The biting point in first gear is VERY high, but I have read that alot of them are. Also, it pulls away in 3rd with no issues (Smells a bit for a minute though!) and when giving it 'beans' it doesn't slip at all. Are the chances that it HAS had a clutch replacement at some stage? Or can they last this long? Alot of information points to them going at anywhere between 30,000 and 60,000. Any more miles than that and your'e either very lucky or running on borrowed time, lol Is this just a case of 'Its fine, shut up and enjoy it'? It's just I bought it with the expectancy of having to change the clutch as I thought the biting point was oo high, but I'm getting used to it and have been driving the car alot in this first week. My mate bought a 60 plate Corsa a week before I got my Z and paid £1000 extra. I know which I'd rather have, lol

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. Budget wise I want to spend about £400 maximum. The brakes are currently good and do their job well, but when the time comes I want to upgrade and not downgrade, so if those ones I posted are of a dodgy quality I would rather spend more and actually upgrade, lol
