  1. I would like to thank Amy for organising the z meet.

This was my first meet and was great to see all the zeds, especially the 240z's! The veilside 350 has to be one of my favourites. I did leave a bit early but had other plans.

Looking forward to the next one. Might even venture out of London next time!

Im bad with names, got speaking to a nice guy who had a black 05 350z and parked next to me.

Good to meet you Ali and good to see you getting the other half into the ways of a petrol head!

    Get those spacers next ;)

  2. So I noticed the other that my mirrors are in different positions, drivers side folds out further than passengers side.

Now I've noticed it, it's gonna bug me as they look different when looking at the front or rear of the car..

Anyone know how to best sort.. I assume if I just muscle it into a different position I could knacker the gears on the motor..?

  3. So recently replaced my fans after them being caput.. decided to go for the Mishimoto rather than refurbing old motors on the basis the Mishimoto ones are lighter and supposedly more efficient, look quite good too.

Can someone just confirm for me that the OEM is a two phase fan, only running at full pelt when temp requires. However in the nature of how Mishimoto ask you to wire the replacements in, they only run full pelt, nothing in-between...?

  4. Not come across the DC before....

Like the fact everything is welded, no clamps here unlike the Invidia and the system looks like good quality for the price.

The only clamps on the Invidia are for the rear tail pipes ~ this is a good thing as it allows you to get the tips positioned correctly with your rear bumper and also if you fancy a change of tip it's an easy swap or if your originals get damaged again easy swap.

Also the Invidia exhaust system has no flexi joints unlike that DC system. Hate flexi joints so much as they are so prone to damage & are a definite weak point on any exhaust system.

After researching a lot before getting my exhaust system I decided the best one for me was the Invidia Gemini exhaust system with Berks HFC's from Tarmac Sportz. Sounds great, looks ace, excellent quality & no drone. :yahoo:B)

Does the Invidia not have flexi joints towards cat end..?

  5. have you considered a DC Sports true dual? im my opinion sounds a bit meatier than the invidia, and theres a trader on here at the moment (funkypower) who is doing an excellent price on them!

    EDIT: this one: http://www.350z-uk.c...em-with-x-pipe/

Not come across the DC before....

Like the fact everything is welded, no clamps here unlike the Invidia and the system looks like good quality for the price.

The cons would be the tips are straight cut, really really wanted rolled tips and also a little concerned that there are some reports from the states of it being mega raspy..? Might have to do more research.. Wonder if anyone has one that's heading to the Ace Cafe on the 20th..? Can't beat seeing/hearing in the flesh..

  6. Whats your looking to achieve? Power? Noise?

    Power - True dual

    Noise - single pipe

Definitely don't want a single pipe, just not keen on the looks.

I'm not shy of a good exhaust note, but want a quality noise thats not too raspy, the Invidia Gemini seemed to tick those boxes.. I'll be at the ace cafe meet so should be able to get some feedback on sound whilst up there..

I just figured by the time I've got a Cobra or Japspeed K2 with a y-pipe.. I'm only a couple of hundred off the Invidia system which is true dual, so is it worth the push to go true dual..

  7. So from doing a little research on what I want out of an exhaust I have seen some potentials.

The question i guess is should i do it properly and go true dual.

Requirements are close to OEM look as poss, i.e. rolled tips.

Good quality sound, not too raspy.

    Cheapside - Cobra + y-pipes

A little extra - Invidia Gemini + decat pipes

Whats your views, worth going the extra mile..?

  9. So my garage just called me.

They are a jap specialist, AutoBMC in Chandlers Cross. I feel fairly confident they know what they're doing..

So they had my car in for drop links, wheels spacers, tein springs, tyres, wheel refurb for stage 1 of my zedlist..

They have just called to say they had the car running in the bay and noticed the temp rising to the point the fans should cut in, but they didn't.

So they switched off and rang me to ask if i'd noticed anything. Well since getting the car i've not really been stuck in any traffic so haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary. They have said in the past they have seen about 5 zeds with the same issue which ended up being the bushes on the fans. Their resolve was to swap round the bushes and all is well again.. this is a bit labour intensive but still better than buying new fans.

Has anyone had any similar experience, are there other areas which they will check first etc..?

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Okay here goes, we shall start with a standard DE.

Plenum spacer fitted will exceed the spacer performance gains over that of a GT4 and Revup - because the DE tunes better. Just the way it is.

    GT4/Revup

A spacer alone will provide some gains but in order to gain over and above a plenum spacer on a DE you'll need a Motordyne MREV 2 lower plenum. A GT4/Revup will then gain more than a DE with just a spacer.

Two ways to resolve the GT4/Revup.

    1. Get a used or new MREV 2

    2. Get hold of a DE lower plenum. Shave the front two ports flat which is all a MREV 2 is.

I have a modified DE lower plenum with shaved ports and it performs exactly the same as the MREV 2

Considering what Motordyne charge, modifying a DE lower collector if done correctly will provide the necessary gains.

Abbey will I'm sure suggest you buy a MREV 2 from them to see nice gains.

To be honest the DE tunes better NA with added mods. GT4/Revup gain better power with FI, and furthermore with HR.

Although the upper hand with GT4/Revup is the higher rev limit. So what is lost in lesser gains is resolved by a longer power band. Horses for courses really.

Thanks Wasso, was a bit lost..

So basically even though they re-designed the plenum on the uprev, the best gains can still be achieved from an MVREV2 plenum (with a spacer) which is basically along the lines of a DE plenum with the ports modified.. So more dollars to do this mod on an uprev engine in comparison.. booo

  11. Below are the two different plenums.

There is more air space on the GT4 plenum.. which is in effect what the plenum spacer does I assume..?

So would it hurt to have even more air space..??

    Wasso, over to you..!
