  1. I just used gear oil to the correct spec from my normal supplier, not a fun job but doesnt take too long, dotn forget those axle stands, dont want any car sat on you but definitely not a 350Z, the gearbox looks like it weighs more than some cars, I am used to Golfs and stuff where you can unbolt it onto your chest, do that with a 350Z box and it wouldtn be much fun, what are they 150 kilos or something ?

  2. I did mine and at first I couldnt tell a difference but it does seem to be a nicer change now, they are pretty bad when cold as a rule, once warm its fine, I put Molyslip in.

It isnt too bad to do but you need to buy a synringe, oh, and put something on the drive as ineviatably you will throw some around.

  3. When I got my 350Z it was apparent that the previous owner was not that careful, the passenger side sill has a big dent in it so, my questions are, are they easy to come by, preferably in body colour (Grey), are the convertible ones the same as the coupe and are they east to remove ?

  4. I changed my front brakes and there were no shims, it is squealing again now so I reckon I need some but have seen them for eighty quid, for titanium ones, surely some mild steel would do the job ? Don't want to spend that much, more than the pads on some shims.

  5. Wouldn't mind a bit more but was baulking at the price of induction kits, I just cant get my head round spending £300 on one, are there any cheaper options ?

Do the panel filters make any more noise ?

  6. I went to see mine 140 miles away and arranged everything up front, agreed price (re negotiated on arrival as some stuff had been missed), found out where the local Natwest was, and the post office to task it, a few phone calls to check that the PO did tax disks and the bank was open and could do a transfer and all was well, took the owner to the bank and did the transfer, walked round the corner and taxed it, drove home, about five hours in total, with a bit of planning it is doable and worth it to avoid two journies.

  7. I paid seven for my one owner, 33k mile Gunmetal convertible with FNSH, had to replace the exhaust, £425 and it came with a brand new set of crap tyres but I guess I didn't do too bad.

Never sure about the prices of thirsty cars with high VED but are they holding ok, do they sell easily ?

  8. I have the resonated Cobra and I am very pleased, we had a little teething trouble but I cannot recommend Cougar Store or the exhaust, highly enough, you cant see the brackets if you make sure you get them

turned up to the top, it sounds really nice, isnt that expensive and seems good quality, certainly better than the oem exhaust.

  9. Am in the process of fitting my Cobra resonated system, old one off and have put the back box on but the tips seem to be splayed slightly and I cant get them to sit straight in the exhaust cut out, any, er, tips ?

Also, the Y pipe, where it bolts to the mid section, is it always such a bitch to get the studs out, have used a cutting disk to get them off and am now trying, without much success to drill the middle out.

  10. I think with the 350, with a bit of restraint you can get decent figures, I have seen over 30, anticipating lights and stuff helps as accelrating 1500 kilos with a 3.5 V6 isnt cheap, especially if you use the power reserves, I also think a lot of people in fairly mundane cars dont do as well on fuel as they think they are, even medium stuff like a Focus 1.6 isnt that economical, quite conceivable to drop those into the twenties mpg.

I tend to use mine and the 944 I had before for nice journeys, i.e. being a convertible, on days I can get the roof down, goign to the shops I will take our little Citroen C1 which offsets the consumption a bit, oh and I cycle to work to try to stem the middle aged spread, or work from home.

I think with fuel consumption the thought of it is much worse than the practice, people run diesels and pay twenty grand for one and harp on about the 50 mpg and low VED, but they spent twenty grand on it, invariably they then do 5k a year thinking its free motoring, ignoring the cost of diesel, depreciation and the expensive oil top ups they seem to need, then when it needs work, its expensive things like DPFs, Turbos and the like that need changing and they forget to factor in the two grand bills in the costs.

  11. I ride to work and manage to not cause anyone any poblems, usually in any given altercation with a car the cyclist comes off worse, I take my responsibilities seriously, if I damage someones car and its my fault then I will pay to recompense them, I ride to work to save money to pay for all the fuel my car uses !

And the road tax thing, I pay £490 a year !

  12. First mod today, carbon wrapped the scratched door switch panels, pleased with the result, wife not so keen but its my car.

New number plate tomorrow as its a bit scabby and will get the paint for the wheels.

The hood is going to get a coat or two of renovo and will deal wth the tiny nick in it.

Exhaust on way and when thats done, will get it sent in for the parking dents to be sorted.

    Then maybe, nice head unit.

makign it sound like a shed, it still feels like a new car, its just that the previous owner wasnt quite as fussy as me and I want it perfect.

  13. The wheels on my Convertible have been kerbed by the previous Owner plus a coupel have corroded under the paint so going to give them some TLC, any suggestions as to what the original paint colour is or a near approximation, probably doesnt matter as will end up doign all of them but want pretty much the same shade.

Or, any suggestions as to what shade goes best with a Gunmetal car, am thinking of leaving them silver but if anyoen posts a compelling picture of a gunmetal car on RAYS in a different shade I may change my mind !

    Cheers
